    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Indian Prairie School District 204 (Naperville, IL) in August 2014.

    Interview

I applied for the job and didn't hear back for almost a month, even though they desperately needed Teaching Assistants. Also, even when I had accepted the job it took more than a month to be placed and start working. The whole process was very chaotic. The woman who interviewed me was taking me back to interview and stopped to talk to a colleague about their personal lives for a good 2-5 minutes, while I stood awkwardly to the side.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Indian Prairie School District 204 (Aurora, IL) in August 2013.

    Interview

The interview process was well organized, structured and to the point. The managers were straightforward, and tried to give a realistic preview of what the job duties were. Due to my current employment and short notice for a second round of interviews, I had to withdraw my candidacy for the position.

    Interview Questions

    • There really were no truly technical questions. I received a lot of questions about frequent interruptions and learned that a fair amount of after hours work is performed due to a lack of digital systems.   Answer Question

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Indian Prairie School District 204 (Aurora, IL) in January 2013.

    Interview

I interviewed 1:1 with the Assistant Director of Student Services. She asked a variety of questions pertaining to situations a special education teacher may have to handle. Not all of the scenarios would have occurred in the same classroom setting. The AD asked them to make sure she placed me in the best classroom setting. Once the interview was over, the AD said she would call back within 5 days to notify me if I made it to the next round. I received a phone call 1 day later with a verbal offer and I signed the paperwork the following work day.

    Interview Questions

    • A student is becoming increasingly defiant when asked to complete classwork. The behavior started with a verbal protest, but has escalated into yelling and throwing items. How would you ensure the staff and students stay safe in this situation?   Answer Question
