Manager Interview

It's been said that an interviewer makes up their mind

about a candidate within the first 5 minutes of the interview. Do you agree?

Interview Answer

Not necessarily. I believe the interviewer comes in with some ideas based on what's on the resume, and spends the interview process determining if their ideas about the candidate are true or not, but their mind isn't made up within the first 5 minutes unless something is grossly off (e.g. candidate very late, inappropriately dressed, inappropriate language, etc.). Otherwise I think it takes the majority of the interview to get a decent sense of an individual, and minds may not get made up until other candidates have been interviewed for comparison.
