    Project Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Plano, TX
    No Offer
    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Plano, TX).

    Interview

I was called for a phone interview. The interview scheduler set up the call for me in EST and for the interviewer in CST so there was confusion right away. The call went well and they asked me to have two more calls the next day. The following day they called and asked me to have a face-to-face Interview in 2 hours! The recruiter kept telling me that the team was very excited about me joining and that I would be a great addition. I was told that my salary requirements were in alignment with what they planned to pay. The face-to-face interview went well and I was told that they would be contacting me within 24 hours. I have not heard from them since (2 weeks). I was shocked at the unprofessional behavior!

    Technology Analyst Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Plano, TX) in November 2017.

    Interview

I went to a job fair. They reached out later and I got an interview. There were three rounds. First round was behavioral. Fairly easy. Second round was technical. It was java questions and an algorithm problem. The java question was something about passing by ref/value so study on that. I forgot which one but it's definitely been on glassdoor before. The last one was a speech. I just talked about my old internship project. Best of wishes!

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Dallas, TX) in October 2017.

    Interview

The interview process was formal, yet friendly and the interviewers were inviting and warm. They asked mostly fit questions, and a few technical. They wanted to know my story and why I wanted to do Private Banking, so make sure you have that down if you get an interview.

    Lead Software Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Dallas, TX

    Neutral Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Dallas, TX) in September 2017.

    Interview

The interview process was quite long.

    1) Technical assessment

The technical assessment wasn't very hard, but they wanted you to solve problems coding problems through their HireVue app. The first problem was pretty straightforward but took a while to get used to HireVue. The second question was much harder, but still doable. The third question required you to describe the first problem. There isn't any penalty for using outside help during the interview. I had google open the whole time as a reference, but be sure you can explain your solutions.

    2) Discussion with recruiter about salary, work history, etc.

This was pretty straightforward as well. I told them my salary and what I was looking for. They called back a few days later to schedule my next interview.

    3) Video conference interview with hiring manager for the group I was interviewing for

Behavioral interview with a few technical questions. The technical questions were mainly how you would approach something and didn't involve any coding.

    4) Video conference with hiring manager for another group

    Same format as #3

    5) Video conference with another development lead

This interview started similar to #3 and #4, but the interviewer was mainly focused on your technical experience. In my case, the interviewer was argumentative (I think on purpose), to see how you'd react. There was a short coding challenge at the end with a very easy problem (sort a list).

    6) Final negotiations

Recruiter called and we went through the final negotiation process.

Overall, the interview process was pretty easy, but it was not convenient at all. The scheduler was not flexible with my schedule at all. I had to either take off or leave work early 4 different times. The scheduler provided different time zones several times and led to scheduling issues. I applied to a lead position, but at some point during the process they decided my work history better fit a senior development position. I was never told about this until after the interview process was complete. I probably wouldn't have continued to interview if I had known this, so everybody's time got wasted ultimately.
