I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Union Gap, WA) in Sep 2013
Interview
The support manager interviewed me and in the course of the interview determined I'd be better suited working for another manager in a different department (which sounded like a better job for my personal needs). It was the pre-holiday hiring season so I think they were basically looking for anyone who didn't seem to be a complete moron and they'd be happy to take them on. 12-20 hours a week retail. You can't screw that up.

Very typical interview including some of your basic interview questions (which, after researching how to do an interview a year later I realized I pretty much bungled =P)
I applied online. I interviewed at Macy's (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
The manager interviewing people was friendly. She would ask why you wanted to work there and what skills you had to contribute. Also she asks questions on customer service situations like how you would deal with an unhappy customer.

What would you bring to our team environment?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Macy's (Marlborough, MA) in Oct 2015
Interview
It took about 15 minutes
They asked basic questions, just answer confidently.
For me it seemed quick but since I answered confidently she already told me I would be hired after I passed the background check. If they ask you a question and you have never been in that situation don't lie and tell them that you haven't been put in a situation like that before and they will happily move on.
