Intern Interview

Anonymous Employee in Wrocław (Poland)
Accepted Offer
Positive Experience
Difficult Interview

Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Wrocław (Poland)) in November 2015.

Interview

There were 3 interviews, two interviewers on each. An interview consisted of two parts: first a behavior question, second - a case interview. Typical for McK, there were interviewer-led cases, where the interviewer provided me with the details and then asked questions.

Interview Questions

  • Behavior e.g. Please tell us about the situation, when you showed your leadership. Please tell about the situation, when you had a conflict and how you resolved it.
A business case to solve   Answer Question

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at McKinsey & Company (Frankfurt am Main (Germany)) in July 2016.

    Interview

In total for an internship position you will have up to three interviews: you will start by having two interviews directly in a row. If those two interviewers give the go-ahead, you will have a third and last interview that, if you pass, will directly result in a job offer. The structure of the interviews is always the same: it starts with the usual get to know, followed by you talking about a personal experience where you showed desirable qualities like leadership and ends with a case study. In total each interview will take around one hour.
The interviewers were nice, but in a professional and distant way. Although they will tell you beforehand that the interview is going to be "interviewer-led", don't be fooled: For the case study your questions need to be precise and on point. There is no "nudging you in the right direction".
