    Support Worker Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Newcastle, OK
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Mears (Newcastle, OK) in January 2014.

    Interview

Applied online, they take on literally anyone as long as their DBS is clear, people who have been carers before and shouldn't be allowed to look after any vulnerable people as they are incapable. They accept anyone who's willing to work asap. I interviewed in January and didn't start working till March, the other employees I spoke to before starting work advised me to not work for the company and to get out whilst I could.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Mears (Melksham, England (UK)) in November 2016.

    Interview

Lots of questions about paste experience, a written test of Math's skills which seemed inappropriate and not needed for the kind of role that it is. However very friendly and honest recruitment staff and made to feel comfortable during interview and induction.

Interviewed by an unpleasant gruff, miserable old woman who failed to ask many relevant questions about my past experience as a home carer.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Mears (London, England (UK)) in March 2014.

    Interview

interview process was well constructed. I was interviewed initially by 2-panel team and was later joined by a third member of staff so became a 3-panel team interview. The organisation where I work seemed on the face of it much smaller organisation to where I have previously worked and I did initially have reservations but Mears where sharing the client's office and the client and customer service team in particular were a joy to work with.

    Interview Questions

    • asked about previous experience in a similar role(s)   1 Answer

    Negotiation

I was unable to negotiate as I was told 'Mears' are cheap and if you want to work for Mears you have to accept low salary is part and parcel of Mears.
