Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in February 2016.

Interview

Skype since returning intern to different team. I did not have to fly in or anything. So, I was lucky because on campus interviews can be brutal. Especially for my position.

    Interview

I applied for Hardware Engineer Intern for college students directly on Microsoft career. For application, I just submitted my resume.

2 Months later, got a phone interview by an engineer, basically bahavior/project questions.

After 3 weeks, flew to Redmond for an on-site interview. Microsoft organized a mixer the night before, and talked to a lot of engineers at dinner (some are interviewers for the next day).

On the day, 4 hours of back to back interview with everything you would and would not expect.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Microsoft.

    Interview

30 minute phone screening, then a full day of interviews a few weeks later.

Phone screening was primarily easy tech questions, a single brain teaser, and a few general behavioral questions.

The on site interview consists of 3-5 interviews with members of the team for which you're being considered with a lunch break with one of the members.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Microsoft (Seattle, WA) in November 2018.

    Interview

I applied online, and got a call for first round interview. Then, I flew to Seattle for an on-site interview. The travel was nice, and I had a tour of the company visitor's center and ate at the cafeteria. Then, there were four rounds of interviews. Some were technical, some were not. They told us we should hear back our results in two weeks. They did not get back to me for eight weeks. I had to tell them that I have an offer from another company when they finally got back to me with a rejection letter. Throughout the process, the recruiter responds in about a day or two for all emails. Some people who had the same interview heard back with a rejection letter in a week, and some hadn't heard back for almost two months like I did. I'm not sure why it needs to take this unnecessarily long amount of time just for a rejection letter. I would have given a thumbs up for this review only if they had gotten back to me in their promised time. Poor way of treating their candidates.

    Interview

The interview lasted for an hour. It was with the manager of a design team. The questions were mostly technical covering the resume. He went over the resume project by project and also asked me about my experience.

The recruiter, however, took ages to get back. The sent out a reject after 5 weeks of the first round interview. Each week I sent follow up, they kept asking for a week of time.
