Global Capital Markets Summer Analyst Interview

Easy Interview

Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (New York, NY) in November 2015.

Interview

I applied for the accelerated analyst program and had a very rushed recruitment and interview process. My first round was a one hour phone interview that was mostly behavioral and resume oriented, but took on a very colloquial feeling through out. Shortly after finishing my interview (15min) I was called by headquarters and asked to fly to NY to be at a super day by 8 am the next morning. The super day was intimate with only 20 finalists who were each interviewed by 6 different members of the capital markets and lev fin groups with acceptances handed out to 3 individuals that evening via phone call.

Interview Questions

  • Q: I have a company selling hats that turns a $200k revenue each year. How do you value me and in the given economic climate what mixture of equity and debt do you suggest?   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (New York, NY) in January 2012.

    Interview

Asked to come in for a first round interview in-person in NYC -- they don't do it over the phone so everyone gets equal footing with those who do first round on campus.

Interviewed by two people for thirty minutes each, who asked mostly behavioral questions (strengths, weaknesses, example of time you showed X) and a few technical things regarding valuation and current press.
