    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Universal City, CA) in July 2015.

    Interview

After completing and submitting the online application, I heard back about a month later when I was asked to complete a video interview. The video interview consisted of a series of questions that I had to answer in a limited amount of time whilst recording myself. After completing the video interview, I heard back about 15 days later when I was told that I was selected for the panel interview. So after having to purchase my airline ticket and acquire accommodations for my brief stay in Los Angeles for the panel interview, I arrived in LA for my assigned interview date.

About three days before the panel interview, I and the rest of my panel interview group were given an article to review in preparation for the interview. At the interview, we started off in a group (there were eight of us) to answer questions in front of a panel of interviewers. Then we branched off into groups of two. One group of two would go into a room with two interviewers to discuss the previously assigned article, another group of two would go into a different room to complete a writing assignment, another group of two would be split for individual interviews. The final group of two had a moment of "down time" while waiting for the time to switch places.

After every group of two completed the three separate interview "tasks", all eight of us regrouped and faced the panel of interviewers again for our individual final presentation.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Studio City, CA) in July 2016.

    Interview

The online interview is the worst. Questions pop up on a screen and you have 30 seconds to come up with an answer. It is very stressful and not personal at all. I think everybody must feel awkward doing them though, and the employers must know that.

    Interview

The first round of interviews is done electronically. A series of questions will appear on your computer screen and you have 2 minutes to respond to each one via webcam. No person is on the other side of this interview which makes for a really awkward experience. If you do well on this, you will be asked for an in-person or phone interview.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions depend on the department you are applying for (entertainment, news, parks and resorts). Know a of of background and what the company has been doing lately in that department. I worked for the news group and they asked me what my favorite recent segment was   Answer Question

    Application

The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Universal City, CA).

    Interview

Online app, video interview with 4 questions and a minute per answer. Few weeks later was called in to interview with supervisors. I had applied for every position relating to marketing and got called in to interview for the department I was least interested in. Interview in person was one of the tougher ones I've experienced.

    Interview Questions

    Reasons for Declining

Office in Universal City is very far from my school, hours are 9-6, very corporate atmosphere

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6+ weeks. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Burbank, CA).

    Interview

Applied through career site. Recruiter from NY called for a screening interview about 2 weeks later. Then I was brought in to meet the Director and Manager of the team. At the on site interview, I was introduced and interviewed by a few more members of the team making my interview an hour longer then estimated, which was fine. The team was friendly and upfront about the position and the office seemed to have a really nice culture. I was brought in a second time to meet my would be direct manager and the VP. Then went through a reference check where they called previous supervisors. After all of this they scheduled me with 2 more interview calls with 2 managers in New York. The last two seemed excessive (especially for an entry level role) but everyone was so pleasant and it seemed like such a great place to work so I did not mind any extra steps! Whole process was about a month. HR was very upfront about process and were easy to work with.

    Interview

First I get a "canned" email that HR wants to interview me. What I get instead is a recording app of which I must give my permission for this to happen. It's very poor method of presentation and I would highly advise not to. When I decided this was not for me, I was told by HR there's too many applicants...

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ weeks. I interviewed at NBCUniversal (Los Angeles, CA) in January 2014.

    Interview

Most of the questions were high-level, until I made it to the Director. The director asked more detailed and mature questions. At that point I thought it was a good place to work, but as I came to understand how things work, I realized that its the same-old club mentality. if you not part of crew, you have no shot of moving ahead or working on choice projects. This was a disturbing trend I started to notice. For the most part, if you're okay with just doing the same task year after year and dealing with a lot of politics then stay away
