Very important to dress nice. Slacks, button-up, tie/bowtie are expected. I would advise wearing a jacket as well.
Sit down 1 on 1 with a manager with strong knowledge of whatever paticular department is needing people.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Nebraska Furniture Mart (Kansas City, KS) in October 2018.

    Interview

The sales manager for the department you are applying for asks you some questions about previous job experience first, and than they ask you to do a "mock sale" to sell a tent. The interview can seem a bit intimidating, but the managers want you to feel comfortable and be yourself during the interview.

    Management Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at Nebraska Furniture Mart (Omaha, NE) in June 2018.

    Interview

Pretty straightforward process. They ask mostly for examples of specific situations and scenarios. However, they almost always know who they want for the job before they even post it (internal transfers only). Management interviews are long, so it ends up being a total waste of time if they already have someone chosen.

    Interview Questions

    • Sometimes getting employees to work efficiently is difficult. Give me an example of a time you thought you were guiding an employee in the right direction, but failed.   Answer Question
