Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pets at Home (Swansea, Wales (UK)).

Interview

Group interview session. Introduced ourselves and said how many pets we each owned, then asked to briefly describe your dream pet. Split up into small groups whereby we had to build a bridge strong enough to balance a can of dog food using newspaper and cellotape. Then had to discuss a new product idea in groups and present it. Lastly we had a quite one-to-one interview with staff member which consisted of mainly close ended questions and a few example/scenario questions. Overall the group session was quite relaxed and the interview was very general and quick (not too tricky). Only downsides were the fact you had to work with people, some whom were overpowering and didn't give you a chance to fully project yourself, and also the person who took my one-to-one interview didn't seem very interested and seemed in a rush to get it over with, I feel like I was more likely to get the job if interviewed by someone else so it was quite bias and unfair.

    Interview

4 long stages for a part-time position. At first it's online application with standard questions such as why do you think you will be a good candidate to if you were an animal, which and why. Plus a few competency-based questions like give me an example when you've provided a good customer service. Took around an hour to fill. Then after several days got invitation for an assessment day on Sunday. Decided not to go for it and withdrew application after reading reviews here about the company's preference for younger staff and favouritism. As well as the demand to work a day for free during the application process (the third stage) and a competency-based interview (as the last one). Too much for a part-time low skilled job.

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Pets at Home (Waltham Abbey, England (UK)) in May 2016.

    Interview

Firstly we all had to say what animal we would own and why, talk about it for one minute and then the manager would ask questions afterwards.

Secondly we had to split into teams and build a bridge out of newspaper tape and scissors. Didn't enjoy because one of the other people applying for the job, over powered the candidates and wouldn't let them have a say.

Finally perform a drama piece of a TV advertisement, everyone had to participate.

Just before we all had to leave we had a one on one interview about avalibility and some general questions.
