Senior Associate Scientist Interview

Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Pfizer (Andover, MA) in May 2015.

Interview

I applied on their website, was contacted through email by hiring manager 5 days later. Went in for an all day interview 10 days later. Everyone on the team was knowledgable, friendly and straightforward about what it was like to work at Pfizer. Everyone seemed happy with the company overall.

Interview Questions

  • Most questions were based on resume. One of the mangers asked me to explain the technology I would be working with. I was able to explain 75% confidently and kind of stumbled around the end. Was able to describe different ways the technology is employed 100%. That was the only part of the interview I really had trouble with.   Answer Question

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Pfizer (South San Francisco, CA) in March 2016.

    Interview

This is for the Rinat SSF location. Their Sr. Associate Scientist position is actually a pretty low level tech position where you'll do a lot of manual work. It sounded like a lot of salaried employees did incredible overtime, and unlike other SSF organizations that would schedule a day long group of meetings with different functional groups, I just randomly met with a few group members and the hiring manager "informally".

The hiring manager seemed a little off but some of the others were very professional and interested in my background.

    Interview Questions

    • I was not prepared when they mentioned that the position would require very little creativity, i.e no thought or scientific expertise, just grunt work.   1 Answer

    Interview

Applied online, got phone interview one week later, lasted for nearly an hour. Questions about my current job function, basic behavior questions. Part for me to ask questions. Hiring manager is very knowledgeable and nice. But the hiring process delayed.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Pfizer (Cambridge, MA).

    Interview

The process took approximately 2 months starting from the 1st phone interview until I provided references after the onsite interview. Everything went pretty smooth and positive. The onsite interview was the best part. I had a great experience meeting the pfizer team. Even the hiring manager was very confident and positive about hiring me. However, I never received any response from them after I provided my references even from my current employer (which was a huge risk, but certainly I didn’t want to miss this incredible opportunity). I sent them 3-4 follow up emails, but no response. Atleast don’t hang candidates in the air after this stage. It jeopardized my current position as my employer knew I interviewed them. Just be professional enough to send a rejection.
