Difficult Interview

Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Publix (Orlando, FL) in April 2017.

Interview

A lot of interrogative questions, long and tedious, kind of ridiculous, and overall a waste of time. A lot of questions were biased and designed to set you up for failure.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Publix.

    Interview

You get called and interviewed within a few days. The questions I answered focused on remembering tasks by telling me a list of things and repeating them to the interviewer perfectly. Also questions like why do you want the job, tell me about yourself, and would I be willing to do certain jobs. There was only one interview and within a week I was contacted for the job. After an arduous drug and alcohol test as well as a 5 hour class to learn the basics of the job and a few online training modules, it took about a month to start officially working at Publix.

    • You might be tasked with several jobs before closing the store for the day, such as mop, wash, and clean the floors, clean the bathrooms, count register tills, block the aisles and lock the front door. Now repeat to me the tasks I just told you.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Publix (New York, NY).

    Interview

I got the interview a week after I applied. The store you applied for may not be the store you will get so keep that in mind. The interview was simple. The hiring manager wanted to know more about you and asked you questions about how you would deal with the customers. There are plenty of room to ask questions. I was hired on the spot, while for others they call you back.

    Interview

I applied in the store and received a call a few weeks later from a location down the street from the store I applied to. I came in for an interview a few days later. The interview was with the store manager. I was nervous but he was very understanding and made me feel relaxed. I was offered the job on the spot.

    Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Publix (Birmingham, AL) in November 2016.

    Interview

The interview for the store i work at was different from other other interviews. We walked throughout the store and talked as if the hr was trying to get know me as an individual and as potential employee. It was really laid back. I was offered the job. I went to my orientation class a few days later. Orientation consisted of about 25 other new employees.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Publix.

    Interview

My interview wasn't really even an interview. Once you've scheduled your interview with the store manager, you have the job. The only way you won't get it at that point is if you can't pass the drug test. My test was a few days post interview, however some stores have been known to do same day testing after the interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Since Publix is a company that tends to hire people based on who they know, my interview questions weren't very specific. I was 16 so most of the questions to gauge my responsibility level were about school and how I handle different tasks there.   Answer Question
