Technical Support Representative - West - Night Shift Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Quickbase (Salt Lake City, UT) in Sep 2019

      Interview

A few days after I applied, they set up a time for a 30 minute phone interview. It was a standard background interview. After that went well, we set up a time to be interviewed in person in their downtown SLC office. They also had me build an application using their software to prepare for the interview. Warning: you WILL have to present it to a group of people. That part was unclear in the email and probably lost me the job. The application was fairly user friendly and they gave plenty of time to finish it. The interview consisted of a 1 hour personal interview with the hiring manager, then the hiring manager left and I was interviewed by someone by video call in their headquarters in Massachusetts for an hour, then I was interviewed by another person through video call for another hour, then I had a conference video call with everybody who interviewed me and some others to present the application I built using their software. Needless to say, this was a very long and complicated process for a simple tech support night shift position. Be warned, the hiring manager here in Salt Lake will only pick you if he likes you personally from what I gathered regardless of your background. (My CS degree wasn't even mentioned throughout the entire process.) The interview questions were very generic and it was obvious they weren't even sure what they were looking for. Just be prepared for 3-4 hours of interviews in one sitting. They don't check your references. Quick Base seems like an awesome company to work for, but their hiring process is a bit broken in my opinion. As far as I know, I was the only applicant for months at a growing branch of the company and didn't get an offer.
