    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Renesas Electronics America (San Jose, CA) in February 2017.

    Interview

applied on line a few days later received an email asking to schedule a phone interview with hiring manager. No H/R process about initial how much do you currently make, company intro. Several days later received phone call from one of the hiring manager going over current position. Manager asked me to explain my experience. Short call and hiring manager very monotone and boring. Immediately I knew NOT my type of company and would not want to report to someone like her.

    Legal Assistant (Temp) Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Santa Clara, CA

    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Renesas Electronics America (Santa Clara, CA) in December 2016.

    Interview

I applied online and was called by a recruiter later that day. We scheduled an in person interview with the hiring manager and the legal assistant (both one on one) I would be temporarily replacing. After first round, I was emailed about a second round with everyone on the legal team as well as someone from purchasing. The second round interview was very unorganized - it was a series of 1:1s that began late, took longer than scheduled (an hour longer), and did not occur in the order scheduled. Also, during second round I was assured that I would be given a decision within two business days latest. However, instead of giving me a decision, the recruiter emailed me and asked me if I would take a timed, written exam. No other information was given about the exam, and it was submitted electronically to the hiring manager. After more than a week of radio silence, I reached out to the recruiter who informed me that they would be moving forward with another applicant.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Renesas Electronics America.

    Interview

None. Company asked for a cover letter, without providing any information about the role or product. I wrote the cover letter, submitted it, and then no answer. I was informed by the recruiter that they even had to input all my info into the company's private database, which is kind of odd. If they don't want to interview someone, why ask for a cover letter and collect all the info??? It was a waste of time.

    Product Engineer Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Renesas Electronics America in March 2007.

    Interview

There was actually a off campus interview by an engineer from NEC. The interview was about 30 minutes long and consisted of a very general test of my semiconductor knowledge, my interests/goals, and some info about the company. Once I passed that, I was called in for an on campus interview. The on campus interview was much longer (about half a day) and consisted of 1:1 interviews with 5 engineers (including a manager) and 1 HR person, consecutively. The interviews with the 5 engineers were about 30-45 minutes long and consisted of knowledge based questions and personal questions to gauge my interest in semiconductors. The knowledge based questions tested very basic electrical engineering and logic concepts. After the interviews, I went out to lunch with 2 entirely different engineers for a more casual type of personality interview. Finally I got a tour of the semiconductor fab and that was the end.

    Interview Questions

    • In a pn junction diode with a voltage placed across the junction (pos and neg) which way do the electrons flow?   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I did not negotiate. There was a section to indicate your expected pay range and they offered me within my range, although on the low side. To my knowledge all associates were given the same starting salary. But I'm sure outstanding candidates could negotiate.
