Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Riverbed Technology (Sunnyvale, CA) in March 2015.

Interview

Applied online and got a call from the recruiter. He was an amazing guy, extremely helpful through out the process, kind and responded to all the questions that I had. There were 2 telephonic rounds. Actually two teams were interested in interviewing me. After a week I was called on-site for interview. 6 people interviewed taking an hour each, in between I went for lunch with the team.

Interview Questions

  • 1. Telephonic rounds were fairly simple, basic TCP/IP stuff, Linux commands, Python syntax and basics, QA questions.
    2. On-site, each person divided an hour into 15-20 mins slots for networking, Linux and Python.
         a) List comprehension in python.
         b) grep command implementation in python.
         c) Swap 2 variable without using the 3rd variable.
         d) If its a black box and you have 2 nodes going in and out how would you figure out if its a router or a switch.
         e) How would you test a gzip command. All possible test cases.
         f) There were other questions related to Linux system admin and network troubleshooting apart from regular comebacks to networking concepts.

Over-all the experience was good, but I lost it in programming.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Riverbed Technology (Sunnyvale, CA) in March 2008.

    Interview

Several steps: HR screening, a call from the hiring manager, programming quiz, a day of in-person interviewing.

    Interview Questions

    • Both open ended and "got to know the right answer" kinds of questions, but in general the questions are relevant from the viewpoint of your future duties.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

The offer was very decent and fair. I didn't feel like negotiating, though probably I could and should.
