Business Analyst Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO

Negative Experience
Average Interview

Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half (Denver, CO) in February 2012.

Interview

I applied online and was contacted by a Recruiter at RHI from their Denver Office,. Interviewed with a full panel (Skype, Face:Face, and Phone) within days - which went well with the client.

Problem - The Recruiter made the mistake of telling me the company gave me a "verbal offer" before they had their ducks in a row. Days, then weeks followed - no update. Months later I find the company's headquarters stopped all hiring - I now hear nothing from that recruiter, she ignored my calls & email inquiries. This has happened before, many times, with other recruiters there; They drag you into their office for a "meeting", then nothing happens, and you don't hear from the recruiter once they submit your resume.

When I see a job posted by RHI now, I pass it up -- Gas prices are too expensive to drive to their office, and I already know what the outcome will be.

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half (Woodland Hills, CA) in August 2008.

    Interview

Had a interview with a recruiter who stated they can help set up interview w/employer. He asked for my range, location and so forth and said he'll get back to me. I thought the interview process went well and spoken to a couple times after. Then, he just disappeared, didn't call, didn't return any calls.

Hint: once recruiter fills his quota, (volume per say) you are used as a statistic to sometimes show that he/she has gathered enough participants for regarding position. Don't be disappointed if it happens to you. It's like when car dealers need to meet their quota at the end of the month. Keep applying!

    Interview

I first met with a RHT agent to go over my resume, skills, and the type of job I was looking for. After about a month I got a call that there was a company looking to fill a Business Analyst position that I may be interested in. The RHT agent sent me the job description to see if I would be interested. After I confirmed interest, she told the company about me to see if they'd be interested in an interview. The interview was conducted at RHT and was very quick...probably only 20 minutes (because he was interviewing other candidates). I'd say half of the time consisted of him telling me about the job and the other half was spent asking me questions about my background and what I was looking for in a job. He probably only asked me 2-3 behavioral questions. After that I went to a room to talk to the RHT agent about whether or not I'd be interested and any other questions I had. Later that day I got a call that he would be interested in having a final interview with me the next day at the company's headquarters but I declined because the commute was more than I was willing to drive everyday. (The RHT agent told me the company's location beforehand so I didn't go into it unaware of the long commute but eventually decided it wasn't for me.)

    Interview

There were only a couple other people besides me waiting to be interviewed. The receptionist was nice, which is always good. You can tell the attitude of the company by the receptionist's personality. I only had one interview but I don't think there was a second follow-up. The Culture seemed laid-back but the people seemed to not mind supporting eachother.

    Interview

Silver lining: I appreciate the other recruiters that I work with so much more. There are many, many recruiting companies in the Twin Cities. It's a great market and you can pick and choose. Do not be intimidated by Robert Half.

They insult you during the screening process and try and bully/insult you into accepting positions you do not want. I dealt with two insecure and sleazy salespeople. It would be a stretch to call them recruiters. I was argued with about details of a state the "recruiter" never lived in but I had. I was laughed at and lectured for not using a local colloquialism. I was told that I was a great candidate but should consider Accountemps for data entry type positions as well. I doubt they would've told a man that.

I was bullied when I did not want to decide on the spot if I wanted a position and told that I wasn't being fair to Robert Half or the client company. I was told "this is on you" if it doesn't work out and you probably won't get your other jobs because they know from four (gasp!) years of experience. Of course they tried to lead me on and say that a several week long role might go permanent when I was just filling in for someone on leave.

I don't think so. Sorry, you lost your precious commission because of the way you treated me.

    Business Analyst Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Robert Half in October 2014.

    Interview

I was contacted by voicemail and email about a Business Analyst position for a well known company with a long term (2-3 years) contract. In the email I received from the recruiter, I was told the rate would be $105k/year, but then during my phone interview with the same recruiter, she told me the rate was about $40/hr. I asked why there was a discrepancy between what she emailed me and what she was now telling me on the phone and she claimed the emailed rate was the top end rate for the best qualified candidate and that based on my qualifications the most she could offer was between 40-45/hr (about $80-90k/year).

The RH recruiter then requested we have a follow-up Skype interview the next day. She stated that before this interview could take place, I would need to provide her with 6 references and I would need to fill out a candidate/consultant profile and marketing statement. This seemed excessive with only a 24 hour notice -- certainly not enough time for me to contact my references to ask permission and give them a heads up.

Because I already had in-person and phone interviews set up for several permanent full time positions, I decided not to bother completing the interview process with Robert Half. I was also unhappy with the bait and switch on the salary compensation.
