    Interview

I had an on-campus interview. One coding test, one aptitude test and two interview rounds. One of the interview rounds involved HR and puzzle based questions. The other one was more technical where i discussed my projects and was asked some technical questions.

    Data Science Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore (New York, NY) in April 2019.

    Interview

I have just experienced the worst interview ever with Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore. It's surprising that on their way to setup their data science division in Bangalore, they have forsaken all basic courtesies of conducting interviews. Having close to 9 years of experience with data science, I did not expect to be treated the way I was. The interviewer joined in 15 mins late (although, I live in the east coast of US and had agreed to a late night interview to accommodate IST) and set out the rigid format of the interview which I was okay to comply with that is, initial 15mins of introduction + 35-40mins of DS discussion including + remaining 10mins with more questions from my end...😂
However, what was shrprising was when I wasn't amply questioned to determine how well (or not) I had performed in the interview. Also the interviewer kept on agreeing to my solutions (which I did recheck and found to be correct later on), but also asked when would I be able to join.
Then expecting to get a call back from HR for a couple of days I had to email them for a result to the interview. When they didn't even comply with that (that being the lowest ever standard of courtesy) I called the HR to know that my interview process had been stopped.
I still fail to understand why was it that I had been rejected. All in all, I am thoroughly disappointed with Samsung and I now feel that such a dicey work environment would not have fared well for me. I have since been inundated with offers and that hirrid experience is now a thing of the past. Well, all's well that ends well.
After all these discussions, I believe it is not possible to evaluate a candidate with 9years of experience in ds within 40mins...🙂

Geez. It was nearly 4 years ago. Samsung conducted a 20 MCQ questions online test and 50 question GSAT (aptitude test) after which they dropped around 75% of the candidates. After that ,they conducted one technical interview and an HR interview.

    Interview

First on day one there was a written test. It was the aptitude test and was really VERY difficult. If you are clearing this exam then you are almost 50% done cause you will get an interview call. In the interview they first ask you to pick one of the programming language you are comfortable with. Then to answer their questions you have to write codes with exact syntax NO pseudo code.
