Uncoordinated to say the least. From the time of the phone interview to the actual on site interview was a span of more than 6 months. This was due to HR having to change the interview date schedule because Seagate couldn't get their scheduling and people in one room. After constant e-mailing for months I had started to think that a company as big as Seagate has extremely poor recruiting practices. It was actually insulting when HR and even the Hiring Manager stopped responding to your e-mails and I'd assumed that it wasn't worth contacting them again. However, after more than 6 months, I had gotten an e-mail from HR asking me if I was "still interested" in the technical role. Even though being employed, I was interested touring and seeing their Fremont Research Center so I had said yes. Initially it was supposed to be a 1 on 1 interview with 6 different people (30-45 mins each). At the last minute they decided to do all the interviewing at once within an hour. One of the most inexperienced interviewing process I had underwent.
Reading the responses that regular full time employees have about Seagate (in terms of under-appreciation, constant layoffs, downsizing etc), I'm not surprised that they would treat their potential employees in the same manner. To them, our time/efforts/planning is not worth their consideration. Only when they see it accommodating to their schedule to call you onsite, they will.
