    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sensus Flavors in January 2012.

    Interview

I interviewed w/ the hirirng manager for the position for an hour. Then with 2 peers (group interview.) After a brief wrap-up w/ the hiring manager, I went home. After I sent an follow-up email to the hiring manager and after several days of exchanges; I had an HR interview & then an offer. I believe the hiring manager needed to know that I really wanted the job and that I was willing to commit long term.

    Interview Questions

    • The hiring manager asked a brain teaser-type question at the beginning of the interview with instructions not to answer right away. This was his way of seeing how I reacted to stress.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

HR asked me to document my salary request. I looked up the salary for the job title and area on Glass Door & listed the mid-range. The company offered at my requested amount.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Sensus Flavors (Raleigh, NC) in March 2011.

    Interview

The interview process itself was pretty standard. It started with a phone interview and then eventually a 1 on 1 with 3 people related to the position. The people seemed pretty reserved and were stereotypically rigid. The face to face interviews lasted 3 hours - 1 hour with each person. I knew very quickly that I would not have wanted to work their judging from the things discussed. I got the impression that being overworked was considered the norm, and almost some sort of badge of honor, as if working 24/7 is something that's so great and desirable.

My guess is that work/life balance is non-existent, which immediately turned me off. The most revealing interview was with the human resources person, who was very robotic and authoritarian.

    Interview Questions

    • The skills test was a bit silly because I was given completely foreign, esoteric information to analyze and could not have reasonably been expected to come up with relevant answers.   Answer Question
