    Financial Analyst Interview

    Declined Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in June 2017.

    Interview

Very friendly, easy process, it seems like a great place to work. In addition to their new offices being built. I would highly recommend Societe Generale. Very professional and interested in learning about you !

    M&A Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in January 2017.

    Interview

I met with 4 people and the interview was 1.5 hours long. Almost all technical questions bar 'tell me about yourself', zero interest in motivations or FIT. My interviewers were unfriendly and patronising. While this was an internship position...they expected you to come in with the experience of an analyst. If you're an excellent modeller but extremely rude and arrogant then SG is an excellent fit for you. If you're a human being with feelings...search elsewhere!

    Interview

I applied online after which I got a call from the HR to discuss the availability for net face to face round with the hiring manager . The F2F was technical involved lot of questions related to skills needed and to understand your previous experience. Then it was with the senior members of board and finally HR round.

    Interview Questions

    • It involved general work related questions which were relevant to the role , followed by competency based questions. The HR round is more of a personality test. Though the process was overall good but one thing which is disappointing and very unprofessional is that if not selected they never let you know through email or in person.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in August 2016.

    Interview

I was offered to interview for this position after I was turned down for another position.

In the first stage interview I had an hour interview with one fellow, he asked me what I understood about the role and proceeded to ask me different circumstances that financial institutions such as pension funds, banks, insurance companies, asset managers were experiencing at the moment. He also asked me how one/an institution can rebuild trust, and how I would build trust with someone. Then I had a one hour interview with two fellows, this covered some of the same ground from the last interview, they also asked question like 'do you prefer to lead or follow', and about banking regulations. They also asked questions about current events, like what I though of recent Bank of England policy.

The second interview was with two women. They asked about my motivations, what I understood of the role, what skills I have that I feel would be beneficial to the role etc.

    Contract Role In Compliance Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in August 2016.

    Interview

applied online and got a call one Tuesday to ask if I could come in next day, Wednesday. I did and interview went so well I got a further call on Thursday asking could I come in next day, Friday. I did and the interview went well. In Both interviews I got on really well with the interviewers and gave comprehensive answers to the questions. They also needed someone urgently and the fact that I was immediately available and had relevant recent experience of the role in a rival Private Bank was a big plus.

The following week I got an e-mail from HR asking was I still willing to proceed and I said that I was.

Never heard back, I chase a couple of times by phone and e-mail but just got stonewalled. An appalling and disgraceful way to treat a candidate. Being led up the garden path is humiliating and unnecessary.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in April 2016.

    Interview

Was interviewed by two directors of the department. Took around about an hour. Very friendly and informative, asked standard CV questions, some a bit probing, but nothing very tough. A few trick questions, but no technical ones. Explained more about the role and where the bank was heading. Very nice office space and laid-back, but professional atmosphere.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)) in March 2016.

    Interview

Applied during career fair and received a phone call a month later.
First round not to complicated ; questions about forwards and options.
Second and final round in London : I saw the head of the team in person and the other members of the team by videoconference (since the job was in Paris) : more questions about options ( more difficult: binary options mostly) and greeks.

    Equity Sales Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)

    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Société Générale (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

Telephone interview followed by final round interview. Held with head of departments, felt family unorganised. No clear direction in the interview, and felt more like a formal discussion (a contrast to other IB interviews / assessment centres). Lasted just over an hour with questions from two interviewers. Process seemed far more organised and professional at other investment banks, but was not necessarily a negative.

    Interview Questions

    • Motivation for applying to department. What the internship entails. Mostly competency questions - only technical questions focused on what the role entails.   Answer Question
