Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Staff Management | SMX (Jackson, TN) in August 2013.

Interview

Initial phone interview discussed vague concepts and benefits. Had face to face interview oneweek later and it was only 5 minutes long. Was told that I would know about the position in a few days, and was given a tour of the facility before offered the job. However, the hiring and onboarding process took nearly 3 weeks.I

Interview Questions

  • There were really no questions asked, which probably should have been a red flag. Instead, they told me that the job was hard and the peoplebwere tough.   1 Answer

    Interview

They will ask you about your management experience. Any is great to them. My boss used to be a taxi driver! If you are warehouse, as long as you can pass a drug test and you do not have too much on your record, you'll get hired. Must pass a simple test and lift up to 50 lbs.

    Interview Questions

    • There is none. Just do not spend a lot of time talking. Each interview has to be short, they are just hiring whoever they can. They need the people. Amazon is telling them how many they need, SMX must fill it.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

I have a masters degree, I just needed a job to keep a float. I was told they would make me a salary position right away. Instead they hired me for seasonal work and then just kept me around for a while. I just had to basically answer some questions over a phone. If you want a warehouse position, you just have to apply on line and then pass the very simple test and a background/drug test.

    Interview

great process - contacted by Chicago office - very nice people - great phone interview. Met manager, very nice man, as straight forward as possible. Phone interview with his boss - nice person - all very respectful and informative.

    Negotiation

no real negotiations - the company realized what I brought to the table and the offer was at the top end.
