    Accounts Receivable Clerk Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sysco in June 2016.

    Interview

I applied online and quickly got a phone screening that asked basic questions. A week later, I was on-site and interviewed with two managers. The first manager was not friendly or warm. The person kept repeating and pushing the same questions even though I followed the STAR format and gave thorough examples. It seemed like they was looking for a family type individual for the role as there were many odd questions about my family. The second manager even asked if I had children or not.

I walked away from the interview confused as to why the first manager kept rudely repeating the same questions to me. It seemed like the person couldn't open their mind to different answers than what they expected. Overall, the process to hear back took too long and the first manager was just cold/robotic. Half of the questions were about my experience and the rest were behavioral/situational. Seems like the company operates on procedures from the 80s and they need better training on what appropriate questions to ask.

    Interview Questions

    • Do you dwell on mistakes? Do you resent team members? What would you do if someone threw you under the bus for a project? Are you confrontational? How does your desk look like? Do you get upset if someone has a messy desk? What are your plans? How do you deal with conflict between co-workers? How do you deal with someone messing with your day? Are you okay with hearing about your mistakes? How to deal with a difficult customer situation?   Answer Question

    Interview

Had the initial phone interview. Lots of questions about my experience. There were also questions about how you would handle certain situations that could arise. Total interview lasted about 20/25 minutes. The lady doing the interview, Marilyn was very professional and courteous. Have to wait to hear back on an in person interview with at least two more company reps.

    Interview

Well really I just talked to the VP of QA, Mike Mignogna. He was really kind, kind of asked me "how did you end up here" (I'm a Marine Scientist), and we talked about possible work with seafood, quality assurance, sustainability, etc. It wasn't an interview for a specific position but I did tell him that I looked into the Sustainability Analyst position and he encouraged me to apply.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Sysco in May 2016.

    Interview

Applied online and was contacted by recruiter a month later to tell me about the salary and asked if I was still interested. She stated that I would receive an email within 24 hours to set up a phone interview. This never happened until about 2 weeks later. I was finally contacted again to setup phone interview, recruiter completely forgot that we had spoken before, and stated that the position must have been filled and now became vacant again and they forgot to inform me. Did the phone interview and was told resume would be forwarded to hiring manager. Received email few days later stating I was not selected. This positions seems to be vacant quite frequently.
Company claims to be pro-veterans and pro military, this wasn't my experience.

Pros: “The environment is welcoming. Truly a team atmosphere that is not always present in a sales driven company. Results oriented, but more importantly the tools are available to be successful.”“The environment is welcoming. Truly a team atmosphere that is not always present in a sales driven company.
