The HR was excellent and pleasant. They have a place on their website where you can see all the steps in the process. The first interview was very pleasant and focused on a task I had at a previous job. They asked all kinds of ML questions during the interview. Then they explained to me about the company, the role and what they do. Then I got homework - three questions - one leetcode, one kind of ml system design and another question related to a sorting algorithm. Then an interview about the homework. The interview was with a manager who was very respectful but a bit condescending. The questions revolved around technical questions about why this loss is better than another, and all kinds of questions that are more suitable for juniors in my opinion. In the last question (leetcode) they asked to add a function that deletes a value from the array (in the homework it was to implement find and insert). There may have been a mismatch of expectations between the interview I was referring to - more senior compared to the interviewer who wanted me to explain to him about cross entropy and KLD. After dozens of interviews, this is the first time I felt like I was seeing black during the interview and I just wanted to end it. I suggest not spending more than 2-3 hours on the home assignment and simply studying for the interview as you would for any interview. The investment in the assignment is not worth it.
