Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target in January 2016.

Interview

It really was a simple process, I had the interview today. It honestly took half an hour in total including waiting. I applied and had an interview 2 days later. The interview is actually pretty easy. I had 2 interviews and then met with a hiring manager to discuss hours. The first interview started with them asking about any time I needed off and then about why I wanted to work there. Then they asked me 4 situational questions. The next interviewer came in soon after and asked why I chose to apply for this position. Then they asked 4 more situational questions. It is best to answer them honestly, I was not prepared for the questions at all but I found them pretty easy to answer. A good amount of questions are basically asking you to explain a time you needed to do something particular, how you did it, and the outcome. Then they asked if I had any questions. Definitely ask questions. It really shows you care about working there and I actually impressed my interviewer by asking a few questions. I was hired on the spot and discussed hours and orientation right after. They also no longer drug test. Also, both of my interviewers were very friendly and definitely made me feel more comfortable.

Interview Questions

  • Explain a time you had to stand up for yourself and what was the outcome?   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Target (Lakewood, WA) in November 2015.

    Interview

After applying online, I was given the chance to interview about a week later. There were two interviews. One was just to ask a bit about myself and such. The second was the HR interview. I was a bumbling idiot and almost said the f-word, only omitting the last consonant sound. So, even though it has only been a day, I am assuming I did not get this job for obvious reasons.

    Interview

Very easy process, I applied online got a phone call within a week and set up a phone interview. Had the interview, the lady actually told me I had the best interview answers she's ever heard haha. Then went in that day for an in person interview, they asked the same "Tell me about a time" questions and it went well. I was basically offered the job, and just had to come back 4 days later when the HR lady was working and was offered the job and I accepted. Very easy process even for me a first time interviewer.

    Interview

Well it is pretty straight forward, you apply and with a week or two they will call you if you can come in for an interview, if you can't you will do one through phone. Depending on whether or not you passed that one you will move on to the next, it is a 3 interview process, very easy. Don't worry with 3 interviews, they are essentially the same questions mostly situations.

    Interview

So I applied online. I would assume applying to the store is exactly the same besides how you send in the application.

After sending in the application its a waiting game. If they like you then they will call your phone number that you gave. I am not to sure if they will email or not but I did not get one. When they give you a call they will say something along the lines of " I looked at your application and saw you applied for XXX. Are you still interested in the position." If you say yes then they set up an interview with you. At my place there are a ton of different days and times so its very workable.

So you have your interview day. Arrive at the guest services desk and just wait in line if there is one. When you get to the front just let them know that you are there for an interview. They will set you up on a computer nearby to take a small personality test much like the one you take during the online application. After you have finished notify the guest service cashier and she will walkie for someone to lead you into the team member office area.

When you arrive in the office area you may meet one of the ETL-Hr people if they are around. You will sit and wait for your interviewer. Your first interview is pretty much the same thing as the second. When the interviewer comes towards you make sure to stand up and look them in the eyes when shaking hands if he offers his hand. They lead you into a small back room. They just ask some basic questions. The biggest worry of the questions are the 3 parters. Check the questions below about them.

So your first interview is over you will be seated again in the same spot. Another interviewer will come out. You will once again stand and shake hands and back to the interview room! When you are doing this interview it is with the HR lead. At the end he will ask about past crimes and such. Realize that past crimes do not cause you to be undesirable. I have a few arrests under my belt and they had no issues.

After that if they decide to offer you a job they will offer it to you right then and there and make sure you know what the job entails as well as the wage. You can choose to accept or deny the offer but know that there is no negotiating the wage so do not bother unless you have a higher up position like asset prevention.

So you were offered the job and accepted. Congratulations! Welcome to waiting game part 2. It takes 1-2 weeks for them to complete your background check. Since I was hired as seasonal I was not required to take a drug test. If you are required they simply give you a paper and you head over to a drug testing facility somewhere nearby. Not at the target but a separately owned place.

Waiting game part 2 is a lot less stressful. Try to just wait it out. If you are worried at all give them a call after a week. Call the target that you were accepted to and just tell the operater that you applied and that you accepted the job. You are just curious about the state of your application. They will ask for your name and look you up and update you.

They gave you a call back and now have your orientation! Make sure to wear a red shirt and khaki pants to orientation and to bring two forms of id off of the list. Orientation is pretty boring. You sit in a classroom with other people that are in orientation. Watch a video. There was no anti union portion. Not sure why everyone says there is. You will get your team member number, discount card, and name tag. Fill out some forms. The ETL-HR will talk a bit. They had bowls of candy around the room for us to eat. Plenty of times we were asked if we had to go to the bathroom. At the end you walk around and get to see all the team member only areas. At the end they give you your schedule and make sure there are no conflicts and teach you how to fill out one of the papers like you had forgotten to clock in.

In the question area I will list a few of the three part questions.

    Interview Questions

    • Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond for a guest/person. (If you have never worked you could talk about helping a random neighbor or something)

How do you think they felt about it?

How did you feel about it.
      Answer Question
    • Tell me about a time when you had a problem at work.

How did you solve the problem?

How did the guests like how you solved the problem?
      Answer Question

    Negotiation

There was no negotiation. There was an hour wage written down. You either accept it or get nothing.

    Interview

perhaps my interview was different from everyone else but i took three different interviews from three different people all on the same day and did orientation the next day, it took a week in all, with interview and orientation on the last two days and waiting for the call back the rest. overall it was my first interview and they knew that so i think they went easy on me, i honestly wouldn't recommend the job though there's too much hard work and too little respect, you'll carry the store as cart attendant (I'm one of two at my store)

    Interview

I applied online and after about a week I got a call from the HR. Usually there is a phone interview first, but the HR told me to go in store and they will interview me. So when I went to get my interview, they said there was a misunderstanding about the interview even though I specifically asked if I had to go in store or not. But they still interviewed me. I passed the first interview and it was relatively easy, all scenario questions. The second interview had similar questions to the first interview.

    Interview

    Interview

I applied online and got a call back a day later.I got a call from the HR. There was a phone interview and asked me a couple questions. They then asked if i could come in for a in-person interview. They were basically the same questions as the phone interview. After the successful in-person interview, I was asked to take a drug test, which I was told would take only 2 days to analyse. 7 Days later, I got a call…
