I applied online. I interviewed at Target (Newark, NJ) in Apr 2020

      Interview

The interview process consists of a bunch of behavioral based questions and scenarios. After the interview I have decided that this job was not the right fit for me. The benefits of working at Target are exceptional.

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target

      Interview

Applied online. Received a call a couple days later for an in-person interview with an Executive Team Leader. The interview lasted about half an hour. The interviewer spent the first few minutes telling me a bit about the position, especially the things I might not expect. For example, he talked about how it sometimes requires physically restraining customers, working with cops, etc. He askes if I felt comfortable with that and I told him yes. He then asked me several behavioral questions that he read off a sheet of paper. All pretty basic questions, nothing too difficult or unexpected. The interview seemed like he was sort of trying to guide me through the interview, telling me what type of answers Target was looking for (basically they want all STAR-type answers, which I expected). He asked me to give specific examples for everything. He also answered my questions by using a lot of examples. At the end, he told me the next step is an interview with the Store Team Leader (basically the store manager), but said that he's out of town for a meeting the next couple days. He said he'd call me sometime that week to schedule an interview with him. He said he thought it was a good interview and that my answers were pretty much what Target was looking for. I couldn't really gauge if he was just trying to be nice and get me out of his office, but it was the general impression I got. About an hour later, he called me back saying that I would not be moving forward to a second interview. I knew at that point that when I left his office, he had no intention of calling me back for another interview.
