I applied online. I interviewed at Target (Casselberry, FL) in Nov 2012
Interview
I applied online and about two weeks later got a call from a lady from human resourses. She was very nice and professional. She told me what positions they had available and that they could only offer approximately 20 hours and asked about my availability. She set up a phone interview with me for the next morning and we agreed on the time and I was told it would not be her but one of the managers. I was called at the agreed time on the dot. The phone interviewer made me feel comfortable. We made some small talk and then he explained to me that this was a relatively new process with Target (the phone interview) and to bare with him. He said it was only going to take fifteen to twenty minutes and he had a few situational questions to ask me. Honestly at this moment I'm not sure exactly what they were but something like If my prior employer was contacted and asked what was my major strength and weakness what would they say. What was a time when I excelled at work in a leadership role and why did I want to work at Target. After each answer he replied "awesome" which could have meant either I did well or that was just his way of acknowledging my answers.
At the end of the phone interview he told me that someone from human resources would be contacting me shortly and thanked me. About an hour later the same lady who called me the day before to set up the phone interview called and set up a in store interview for the following morning at the same time. She told me to go to the guest service desk and they'd help me. Right away after arriving a lady at guest service told me to go to a computer in the front of the store where I had to take another test basically identical to the one I submitted online. Of course it asked all my personal information then a lot of situational questions. It took a little while........maybe a half hour? After I was done I went back to the guest service and quickly was taken into where the offices, break room etc. are. The lady from HR was at her computer but quickly acknowledged me and asked me to take a seat on a bench close by. She kept assuring me that she'd be right with me and it was maybe ten minutes before she came around from her desk and politely asked me to come with her and we went to another room where I watched a brief video of a Target employee interacting with a guest who needed help finding a product. The HR lady told me when the video was over to please come back to her desk and we'd go from there. After I watched it and went to tell her I was done she asked me if I had any questions and I said no. She again asked me to have a seat on the bench and told me that the interviewer would be with me very shortly. I honestly can see why this lady is in human resources. She was professional and very polite......it was only a matter of ten or maybe fifteen minutes before the man who was to interview me arrived. My guess was he just got to work as my interview was eight thirty a.m. He acknowledged me and told me he'd be with me in a minute. We then went into another room where we went into an office and sat down. He told me that he was going to ask me several situational questions similar to the ones I was asked at the phone interview and then he'd send me on my way. One of the questions was why I wanted to work at Target. I think the other ones were what would I do if a guest brought an item to my register that rang up at 19.99 and they insisted it was 17.99 and again what would a former employer say was my greatest strengh and my greatest weekness. I think the other question had to deal with what I have done in a previous job that I excelled at...something like that. It was a short interview and he asked me to go back to the desk and see the HR lady and thanked me.
She was busy but again polite and was with me in a timely manner. I was offered a conditional employment of up to 90 days if I took a drug test within 24 hours of the time of the job offer (Target pays for), passed the drug test and passed a background check. I was given a print out of a mapquest to the place for the drug test and told that it would take between five and seven days. Well I was called back by the HR lady about two hours after I took the drug test and asked to come in the following day for orientation.

Question 1
I don't think the questions were unexpected as I've researched interview questions online but I am not really good at interviews as I've not had many. I stumbled over one of the questions and kind of drew a VERY uncomfortable blank .......just told the interviewer that I'm sorry I am not a professional interview and if he'd please repeat the question. I was SO nervous at this time.
good, just asked simple questions and they were frendly and they were nice and they asked good questions. i have no problem with their interview process. also the interview was online because it was during covid.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Blaine, MN) in Sep 2023
Interview
I have never had such a difficult on boarding process. The initial interview was great. In the interview, I mentioned I had a family matter to take care of and would not be available. The manager and I agreed to delay my start date by a week and advise me to watch my email for an offer letter. Then CRICKETS
