    Software Developer Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services in July 2017.

    Interview

Got a call from a recruiter that lasted around 20 minutes discussing my education / work experience and more info on the position I was applying for. We then scheduled a phone interview. The recruiter gave me directions to print out and then fill out multiple forms BY HAND and then SCAN them back to her. I did so. Come the day of the interview I received no call after spending hours researching the company and preparing for the interview's technical questions. I emailed the recruiter the following day about the error and have still received no response almost a week later.

    Interview

Very strict and very technical. In past they were conducting lot of Psychometric, Technical test, Group and 1:1 technical panel interviews. Not sure how is the policy now since they have deteriorated talent pool by hiring substandard talent due to billing presses

    Assistant Systems Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Chennai (India)
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (Chennai (India)) in September 2012.

    Interview

Interview was very tedious and difficult. It all begins from the time that you apply for a job. Some employers have begun to include pre-screening elements in the online application form itself. In addition to asking for your resume and possibly a cover letter, an employer may also require you to:

    • Rate yourself in terms of specific skills or knowledge
    • Answer “open ended” questions (such as “How have you proven your leadership qualities in a work situation?”)
    • Respond to a Personality Survey or Skills Assessment

Another pre-screening tool might be an initial phone call that you receive from the employer. It could be one of their Human Resources people wanting to ask you a series of questions that will help them determine if you are the kind job seeker they want to bring in for an interview. So be alert and on your best behaviour when your phone rings.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (Bengaluru (India)) in January 2014.

    Interview

Luckily, I have quite a bit of previous team experience, and have faced this situation a few times in the past — so let me tell you how I’ve learned to handle the issue. The most important first step in dealing with an underperforming subordinate or team member is honest communications — talking with the person can lead to some surprising discoveries, such as the person not understanding the assigned tasks to being overwhelmed with the assignment. Once I discovered the problem, I could then forge a solution that usually solved the problem and allowed the work to move forward. So often in situations like this, the problem is some combination of miscommunications and unrealistic expectations.
