I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Blackstone Group (New York, NY) in October 2016.

    Interview

BX was my dream job. The process took 2 weeks. First round on campus, superday in NY office. Couple of fit, but mostly technical questions. It's really hard to get if you're not one of the top students at UPenn or Harvard. They only gave 3 offers to BREDS team and I didn't get it.

    Interview Questions

    • IRR, CapRate, CF, Debt Coverage Ratio calculation.
Elections results on global real estate markets etc.   Answer Question

    Interview

3 different interviews. I was interviewing from NYC for London office and did 1 phone call, 2 video conferences and a maths test similar to GMAST maths, offices are beautiful and was treated friendly. 2 interviews went well but I was nervous and did not perform well on the case study, not the assessment test. test was not real estate focused but general logic questions and bond questions

    Interview Questions

    • tell me about a deal you have worked on?   Answer Question
    • Simple case study with pencil and paper requires you to calculate percentages, subtract and add quickly. You were asked about average rents, then calculate the nom of an office building, estimate construction costs, then calculate costs of a refurb, estimate future rents and rent growth, then calculate the return on the investment etc   Answer Question

    Interview

Purely behavioral for the IRDB summer analyst position. A few logic questions at super day but that's all. Three rounds, three days. Speaking with more senior managers as the process moves forward.

    Interview

Anecdotal, more about getting to know you and assessing company "fit," but a very thorough vetting process. First round is at school, second round is in NYC offices, and then if they want additional info they just arrange a video chat or Skype call. Some technical questions, but mostly about fit.
