Interview

Very fast. Easy questions. There is a second interview with a manager and they just decide if they like you or not by having a simple conversation. Some things are about the company and other questions are more personal

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Saint Louis, MO) in July 2017.

    Interview

I was given an overview of the job position and its expectations, then asked a series of about 10 questions. After the interview, I was told that some of my answers were vague. Be specific about how you would handle difficult situations - this will help you stand out from other applicants. (Additionally, it is advantageous to be friendly, make eye contact, and dress semi-professionally.)

    Interview Questions

    • If you were helping a customer and then a second, more impatient customer came forward and demanded assistance, how would you handle the situation?   Answer Question

    • Imagine you are working in the lumber department on a busy Saturday, and a customer comes forward to ask you what materials are needed to build a deck. Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Federal Way, WA) in May 2017.

    Interview

Took about a week to hear back, mostly everything is automated until your face to face interview. I drove 20 min for 5 min interview. He asked me the same simple questions that all retail chains ask. It's was laid back, but it was really just a waste of gas. Haven't heard anything back.

They asked questions on how you would handle customer Scenarios - what you would do if you did not have a good answer to their questions- making sure that you asked for the sale and then asking if there was anything else you could help them find. what to do with a mad customer- when to get a manager involved

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Bethel Park, PA) in October 2016.

    Interview

Lots of "tell me about a time when.." type questions. The manager was reading directly from a package of questions. He was largely indifferent and didn't seem to care much about the answers. Honestly, it was a mostly impersonal process and I'm sure I was forgotten immediately after walking away. The nature of high turnover jobs.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Bay City, MI) in September 2016.

    Interview

The interview was a basic interview. I took some of my own questions with me to ask when they asked if I had any questions. It took a few months before I was contacted for the phone interview and was scheduled immediately after completing the phone interview to attend an in person interview.

There was another Home Depot employee in the office taking notes of my responses, I believe?

I'm glad I read the interview questions posted on here before hand, I'd been at a loss for answering a couple of their questions.

    Customer Service Associate Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Saint Petersburg, FL) in September 2016.

    Interview

I applied online on September 13. Had a phone interview on September 15 and was given an in-store interview appointment for September 21. I arrived 10 minutes early, but wasn't met for an interview until more than 30 minutes after my appointment time. I was given a paper to sign, then told the position for which I'd applied, Customer Service Assoc, had no openings. I could apply for a Cashier position, and MAYBE, if I worked really well for a year, I would be able to move to the job I'd applied for and was qualified for. They also told me they thought I was better suited for the job I applied for, so would probably not be happy as a cashier. I didn't quite understand why they gave me an interview appointment for a job that wasn't available, even though, when I looked at the website when I returned home, it was still listed as open. I was quite unhappy about wasting so much time after thoroughly preparing to be interviewed. I wasn't asked a single question, nor did I receive an apology my disappointment and for wasting my time.
