Experienced drivers know they're likely to meet an upset customer every day, and my first rule is to remain calm and polite, and let them know I will handle the problem the best I can and then act accordingly, most times the trouble is not your fault, and you can't fully solve things own your own but showing confidence and sympathy while working towards a resolution often will calm them down.
