Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Tower Research Capital LLC (New York, NY) in October 2014.

Interview

Had a phone interview.
Then called for an onsite interview.
Took a written test for 2 hrs.
After the test 2 guys went over my answers.
I got almost all programming questions correct, except probability questions which I skipped.
In my opinion probability questions doesn't make sense for pure programmer role unless for a quant developer role.
The HR arranged lunch which is a nice hospitality.
Then I met with 4 tech people. Discussed projects in detail.
Looks like they want to get information from me rather than giving any thing.
I was not at all impressed upon any of these guys.
These guys seems like immature and technically inferior.
Not sure what credibility these guys have to evaluate an experienced candidate.
Looks like their recruiting process itself is flawed.
I don't think I want to work there, even if I am selected.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Tower Research Capital LLC (New York, NY) in August 2008.

    Interview

Recruiter fixed up the interview time and they called as expected. Talked directly to the manager of the team hiring. He took time to explain the work environment and the work that the team did. It was a pleasure talking to them. Did not go further as the position was closed without being filled due to a funding issue. However, they did call to explain and I appreciate that.

    Interview Questions

    • Most of the interview was algorithms and puzzles. One question was to describe a shuffling algorithm (as opposed to sorting) and once i did that, its time complexity.   Answer Question
    • Another was a puzzle: A king orders 100 bottles of wine for a celebration. A courtier who's angry with the king over something puts poison in one of those bottles. The king has a way of identifying the poisoned bottle by giving a few drops of wine to a monkey. Since the poison is fast acting, the monkey will die immediately. Whats the minimum number of monkeys needed to find the poisoned bottle?   6 Answers
