I applied through other source. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at University of Phoenix in January 2013.
Internal hiring is currently based on a panel of individuals that determine qualifications based on a portfolio/resume submission. From there is a series of interviews from those that would be direct supervisors. Most serious candidates for the position are existing internal managers. External hires go through competency testing and 2-3 levels of interviews starting at the recruiting level.
