I interviewed at University of Washington
The interview process at the University of Washington was thorough and positive: Initial phone interview with Dr. Smith, discussing my research interests and alignment with the lab's projects. In-person interview in Seattle, including discussions about my role, a research presentation, and a practical lab assessment. Dr. Smith contacted my references for insights into my work. Final interview with senior faculty to discuss broader research initiatives and potential collaborations. Overall, it was an engaging and collaborative experience that reinforced my enthusiasm for joining the university.

I applied online. I interviewed at University of Washington
Straightforward online interview and then a follow up in person interview on the campus. They asked basic questions about previous experience and your goals. Very casual and laid back interview.
- Describe a time you experienced conflict during a project and how you handled it.

I interviewed at University of Washington (Seattle, WA)
Low-key conversation with the PI of the lab related to job-related experiences and goals for the future. They were interested in making sure it was a good fit for what we both wanted to accomplish.
- What are your goals for the future?

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at University of Washington in Oct 2023
Had two different panel interviews, both on Zoom. They sent out the interview questions a few hours before each interview. The interview was pretty formal, and I got the sense that interviewers were told not to ask follow-up questions. Overall the process was pretty straightforward and I didn't do so well during the second interview, so I am not surprised that I didn't get the role. But it's been a few weeks since I requested feedback and haven't heard back so that is unfortunate.
- Tell us about a time when you worked on a project that did not go as planned. How did you adapt around the unexpected situation? What did you learn--about yourself and the work? What might you do differently with future projects based on this experience?

I applied online. I interviewed at University of Washington (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2023
Panel Interview over zoom with 2 people asking different questions. They asked about 12 questions and they went back and forth. The reason the interview was over zoom was because I was on the East Coast and the job is on the West Coast
- Describe a situation where your patience was tested and how you handled it

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at University of Washington (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2023
I applied online and then received an email from the hiring manager for an initial interview and then had a second interview with the current team of managers. It went really well, but I lacked any grant experience. What is frustrating is that they wait to tell me 2 weeks that they have gone with someone else who has more experience, even though I’m qualified, via email. I would have appreciated a phone call, but atleast they notified me.
- How do you prioritize tasks?

very easy. I mean if you know the prof and ask to talk to them about the subject then they would be interested. I would recommend reaching out earlier in the first two years of your undergrad study
