Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Unum (Glendale, CA) in April 2017.

Interview

After having applied on the company website a recruiter sent me an email with a questionnaire to fill out. Then I received a call from a recruiter dealing with personal background and plenty of behavioral questions (S.T.A.R. Method). After that short phone call you will be asked to complete a minor assessment, should you pass the assessment which isn't anything difficult to drive you to pull your hair out within two weeks or so you'll find out if you're moving on to the next step. I was surprised to show up and see there were two other people there with me as I wasn't expecting a group interview for the process. The interview day lasts approximately 2 hours long. First hour is a simple breakdown of the role and an opportunity to ask questions from someone currently in the role. The second hour is broken down into two thirty minute segments where a group of two people will ask you many more behavior type questions. They want you to be SPECIFIC about how YOU functioned in that scenario. Avoid generalities!!! After that and you're free to go. I asked the HR rep how many people they were interviewing and just from the week I went they were doing groups of 3 twice a day. That's 30 people for the week for a role they said they had 8 open positions for. Overall though the area was nice and the interviewers were friendly and welcoming.

Interview Questions

Thus far I have only done the phone interview. The process lasted about 45 minutes and I was asked a lot of behavioral questions. After the interview is over, you'll be asked to complete an assessment test which looks at your rational thinking and decision-making abilities. The assessment took me about 40 minutes to complete. I am currently waiting to hear back.

3 part process to getting the job. Application - testing for math and critical thinking and then passing the interview process. The application took the longest amount of time. the testing was two hours and the questions were very simple but if you dont know simple math then move on to a different postion. Finally, the interview process was 2 hours and you had two different set of people interviewing you but asking essentially the same questions. Be prepared to say the same information in different ways to dazzle.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Unum (Portland, ME) in July 2014.

    Interview

The hiring process was a bit intimidating. There were about 10 people waiting in the lobby and after talking to a few it appeared to all be for the same job. The interview itself consisted of three interviews in three different rooms. In each room
You were interviewed by different people that all had a series of questions.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Unum (Glendale, CA) in June 2014.

    Interview

A recruiter initially contacted me via email and had me complete a Preliminary Questionnaire for the position. After that, I received an email requesting to schedule a phone interview. Once the phone interview process was completed, I was then asked to complete a Math and Critical Thinking test (taken on-site), along with a Caliper Assessment (taken online from-home). Once these assessments were completed, it took 2 weeks before someone got back to me. After following up with the recruiter twice, I was told they wanted to bring me in for an in-person interview. When I arrived at the interview, there was another candidate there with me. They brought us into a conference room where we watched a short video clip which explained the position responsibilities. We were then split up and interviewed by 2 managers at a time. Once the first set of managers were finished interviewing, they switched off so that the second set of managers could interview you. Two days later, I received a phone call with an official job offer.

    Interview Questions

    • All questions were behavioral-based. They are looking for very specific and real life examples in your answers. If your answer is too vague, they will ask you to specify again with specific examples.   Answer Question
