    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard (Scottsdale, AZ) in January 2012.

    Interview

Multiple levels of interviews, Case study role play, using Behavioral based interviewing. Prior leadership exp a must for an outsider. Internally they tend to give you more leeway since thay can see your track record. Phone interview at first followed by a screen by a recruiter. Next you would have the management panel interview with 1-3 managers. Alternating who asks the questions. Last is the role play. Overall this is a fairly in depth interview. Expect to be asked anything and everything. STAR based format. However, for the role play you can use STAR/AR as a way to try to respond to the questions.

    Interview Questions

    • Role Play scenario...not really possible to elaborate, but my advice is too be ready to catch a curveball and just be yourself. They really look at what kind of leader you are not what they expect you should say.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I would venture you can negotiate 5-10 k on the salary and a bit if a signing bonus but not much else.
