    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Western New Mexico University (Silver City, NM) in June 2009.

    Interview

I was interviewed in June for a Fall position, and even though they weren't supposed to tell me I was led to believe I had the job, so I closed my agency so my clients wouldn't be left in the lurch, and then they hired someone for a temporary for one semester- Then hired me Christmas eve and told me to be ready to work January 11th. My husband had to close down his store in the busiest time of the year. We had to get our house on the market, find a place to live and I had to prepare to teach three classes I had never taught before all n the space of 2 weeksWhen I arrived I was never given a tour of the campus, or even a map showing me where my building was, talk about feeling some unwanted child. I had been told I would be reimbursed for my initial travel and hotel for the interview, I never saw a dime of that money. It was hard from the beginning- no one bothered to tell me I was going to be teaching from a book they had used the first semester so while i am cramming to get familiar with the book- I am already wrong because they were in the middle of it. Hard to stay ahead of the kids when you are in that situation.

    Interview Questions

    • Truthfully the interview went fine. I was interviewed by a committee of my peers and they were respectful. I just don't rmemeber anything difficult or awful about the interview.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I was young and had only worked as a part time adjunct at two other colleges prior to this offer, i didn't feel I had much negotiating ability.
