    Junior Copywriter Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Zimmerman Advertising (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in July 2016.

    Interview

I applied for the Junior and mid-level roles, as I was coming to the agency with copious freelance experience. I realized that there might be a learning curve as I had no agency experience, so I was prepared to take on the Junior role to learn and grow with the company.

The interview was approximately two hours long. I spent 30 minutes each with the Managing Creative Director, a Creative Director who oversaw the team I was placed on, and two senior VP level CDs. I was welcomed warmly. We went over my portfolio, which they had a lot of excellent comments on, and each mini-interview was very freeform. I was asked only a handful of questions, then the floor was opened up for me to talk about myself and ask questions. This was difficult, as it was unexpected, but after the first one the rest were much easier.

    Interview Questions

    • They asked me to describe my creative process, and how my skills would best fit the company's needs.   1 Answer

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at Zimmerman Advertising (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in February 2016.

    Interview

Long and drawn out. 5 months to be exact.Endless phone calls and being brought in for meetings. Never everyone at the same time. Weeks in between meetings. I had to keep pursuing them to find out what was happening. Never any response from key executives. At one meeting they stated they had limited funds as business was bad right now. That was an excuse to delay the process. In the end I was told I had too much experience.
