american airlines flight attendant interview questions shared by candidates
Possible random questions: Importance of the uniform? What is a quality a flight attendant should have? What does customer service mean to you? If you could be with someone on a plane for 12 hours who would it be and why?36 Answers
Totally disagree with this review. Not at all how the day ends.
First off, congrats on the CJO!! And thank you so much for posting this (: my F2F is the 23rd of February and couldn't be any more nervous! But this post is helping my nerves.
I was wondering how they could give a CJO if the drug test or background check hadn't been completed?
I did it be drug screen fingerprints right after the one on one. And they did offer me a CJO. I don't do drugs and I don't have a background. No reason why it wouldn't go through! I got my training packet and starting date. You don't have to agree! as you may have read it's different for everyone :)
I can only speak for myself as I got a one on one. This was just my experience!
Congrats on your CJO! Did you notice anything about the people they were picking? I had mine in early feb and got a TBNT letter, I was late but the shuttle was late picking me up! Other than that everything went really well!
What was the interview question style... I.e STAR? Also, when they presented you with your CJO (Congrats!!!) did you stay another day or were you able to head back at the end of that day?
Thank you so much!! No honestly I'm not sure what they were exactly looking for.. The people In my group interview had Great answers but a lot of them didn't get the CJO. Only 10/40 of the whole group. I'm thinking it was because you were late! :( I tried to use the star method with my answers but I just answered them the best way I could! And no I flew home that night! The finger prints and drug screen only took an extra hour!!
If you stayed the night before, did you bring your luggage to the interview?
Yes, exactly! They had a room for us to put our luggage!
Congrats on your cjo! I thought they didn't tell you the same day. Anyways, what day was your interview?
Hi, do you suggest hair up or down? Or half up half down..
They told me same day because they wanted to fill up their current training date. And mine was the 13th. And deff hair up!!
If we fly out the day before, doesn't anyone know if we have to wear our business attire on that flight (the day before). I know it may sound silly lol but I was planning on getting on the plane with sweats the day before to be comfy.
I've heard to dress business casual on the plane! I'm wearing dress pants and a nicer blouse with a pair or flats or lower heels.
I wore leggings.. North face and nikes lol and I talked to the flight attendants afterwards. It doesn't matter what you wear if you're flying out the day before!!!
I'm planning on looking business casual. Better safe than sorry!!
Do we need our social security cards or the two forms of ID can be drivers license and passport?
Does anyone have their interview scheduled for Friday??
You need passport and I'd or social!
I am going for f2f this friday(24th)... Arrive at the airport about 9:30am.How about you( who asked if there is anyone interview for friday)?
I have mine Monday!
For the one person that has to present what everyone has in common- is it a long presentation or short and sweet?
Just curious for the question you got about your most recent travel experience, since you flew into Dallas did you use that as your most recent experience? Or a different one?
I said that it was my first time to Dallas but I used the one prior which was my trip to Hawaii!
This is EXACTLY how it went to today. The funny thing after the group interview the interviewer specifically said dont believe what you read online. That no one was getting a job offer and EVERYONE would be contacted within 2 weeks. Well what do we see as one by one were walikng out.....lots of us going to the left..and a few going to the right. THEY DO IN FACT OFFER A FEW THE JOB, TAKE FINGER PRINTS and start the hiring process. THEY LIE if they tell you no one gets hired AND they are not considerating anyone that gets walked straight to the door. They fill you with a lot of over 330,000 people applied and we were chosen crap. Out of 40 of us it looks like 6 or 7 were taken to the fingerprint room and the rest of us were walked to the door, handed a paper for the shuttle, and given false hope for the next 2 weeks.I dont think i would be so upset had the interviewer not lied about NOBODY getting hired today. One of the people that hot walked to the door even purposely walked by the fingerprint room and saw a few of them doing paperwork. Dont lie to us. You know how crappy it is to hope for 2 weeks for nothing. THIS persons review was spot on with what happen today. At least i saved myself 2 weeks of praying and hoping for a job that we already know is offered the moment you walk out of the interview room if they want you. NO ONE THAT GOT WALKED TO THE DOOR IS CALLED BACK WITH A JOB OFFER. Better luck next time and keep trying, wishing, and hoping.
They lie because they don't want to make anyone feel bad that doesn't get finger printed. I doubt they purposely brought you by the fingerprinting room. All of the recruiters and interviewers were extremely nice to everyone there!! Negative people don't make for good flight attendants...just sayin'
Anyone going to f2f on Thursday 3/9?
I just got my f2f interview after 3 months of waiting. I go on 3/14. Super nervous but all of this has been super helpful!! Are a lot of the people in the groups younger?
I had my f2f today, I didn't get fingerprinted, I'm assuming this means I'll get tbnt. Has it gone differently for anyone?
i had my f2f on 3/14 as well. I didn't get fingerprinted, i feel the same that I'll get the TBNT letter....we can always re-apply!
Hi, what is process on the medical exam? I have a tattoo on my foot and arm which I intend to hide it. I spoke with another flight attendant from american that had tatttoo showing on a flight and she told that I only had to hide the one on my foot for training and interview. Please let me know how is the medical exam or if there is even one.
What type of drug test is given?

I’ll be there at 10!
Hey there! I will be going on APRIL 4. I chose the date. but so far i haven't received any email back from them yet after i sent them the email that includes my chosen date of F2F.
Mine is April 2nd!!
How long after you submitted your online interview did they call you in for a F2F?
It was about to months after my video interview that I got a call for the f2f.
Make sure you stand out and be very outgoing, that's what they're looking for.
Be yourself and relax! My interview is April 5th.
I'll be there at 1:00!
Are you guys flying in to Dallas? Do you guys know if AA will arrange the flight to Dallas and back to your city? or just to Dallas?

Hi :) Quick question! Did they ask you to provide all your previous employers for background check? or just references?
Nope, they just went off of what was on my resume, which definitely doesn't have everywhere I've worked on it. There's a separate check for the Department of Transportation, and they wanted full employment history for the last two years. But something like an FBI check, that's the kind of stuff they can pull up on their own.
Really..! So one more question... i put my work history on my resume but my most recent job was over 3yrs ago. But they just want employment history for the past 2 yrs right? so it means i dont need to provide any of my work history for background check..?
And congratulations for your job offer!! I did fingerprint on my interview day and now im waiting for email from AA.
Congrats! I would guess that you wouldn't have to put any work history on there if you haven't worked in that time frame.
Oh wow i thought they check 10 yrs history! Thank you!!!
Thanks for being willing to answer questions. From what you could tell from the people being picked do they have a type? Younger, older, taller thinner etc? I've heard that American does not hire older flight attendants and i'm wondering if that is true. I'm 35 and I would LOVE to work for American for obvious reasons, but I wonder if they would thing this is too old to start. Thanks for your fedback.
I had my F2F interview this week and there were candidates in their 30s and 40s being fingerprinted, so I would say age is not an issue. As far as a type, the people who got fingerprinted were very well put together, professional, not wearing anything to stand out too much.
What type of questions do they ask in the group that's are different form the one on one? Or is it pretty much the same?
Why do you want to be a flight attendant?9 Answers
Don't say you like to travel and don't say you're a people person!! That's why you applied they know that already. Make sure you have a good answer. Speak from the heart they can tell who's genuine and who's not
Do you remember what the three questions were in the group interview by chance?
I will go to Face to Face interview. May I have to know questions? Thank you so much
Any update to share?
What do you think of the following..... "As a person who loves to travel I wish to encourage others to travel internationally in the safest way possible. If they fly American Airlines, I know that I will be able to accomplish that goal through excellent guest service therefore encouraging them to fly with American Airlines repeatedly."
Maybe because I worked for almost 10 years like flight attendant in Varig Arlines, and I missed to work every day.
Did you get the CJO?
I was asked to send in a video interview at the beginning of September. I did so, and have not heard back yet. What is the time from that they get back to you about coming in for an interview or not?
Love, Love, LOVE your encouraging attitude! Yes, speak that job right into existence!! Wondering if you've heard anything back yet?
If you had a brand, unique to you, what would that brand be and why?9 Answers
Think of a word that represents you, maybe something you love, something you are passionate about, or a characteristic your loved ones/coworkers would describe you as.
What do they mean by "brand"? What was your answer? or others answer?
Well, I will tell you that I told the interviewer that my brand would have to be "Sunshine" because personally to me, it is my goal to brighten at least one person's day that I come in contact with daily. I further elaborated on "My Brand" and then I told a little story about where "sunshine" originated in my life. I hope that helps!
I had this question in my one on one too and I was dumb founded by it. Thankfully pulled something together lol and moved through too

I applied the end of February and had my VI on 3/17. I’m still waiting to hear back. I’m keeping positive and believing no news is good news. Good luck!

Just a lil update! I checked my application status this morning and unfortunately it said “not selected”. Although I wasn’t selected I am relieved that I no longer have to check my email every five any longer. So for all of you still waiting “in progress” good luck and stay positive
What is your proudest moment? Why did you apply at AA? What was your best customer service experience? What can I bring to the company? How has your past job experience prepared you to be a flight attendant for AA?7 Answers
How is the reach test done? How far do you have to reach?
I'm 5'3" and I barely had to stand on my tip toes. You just have to reach into an overhead bin and touch a small item.
Thank you ! Good luck
Where did you apply for the courses???? I can't seem to find any ;(
So sorry, I accidentally hit the down arrow above for the first question. Not even sure what I did, but I think I voted on something. It was completely unintentional.
Can anyone answer if during the online interview questions the answers have to be in a certain method? for example when i interviewed with another airline all interview questions had to be answered in a S.T.A.R. method. Which stands for situation, task, action, result. thank in advance!
As to the question above I did try to use this method while remaining casual. I'm going to the face to face soon. I recommend a giggle to show personality. It's always good to show your not too shy to laugh at yourself.
