Ideas for building a current curriculum. Teacher of Classical Guitar and Music Theory. Teacher of Composition-Songwriting. Can teach a thorough view of Music History from the Western Music Tradition, Medieval to Present. Can teach Symphony Band or Orchestra. Have knowledge of Instruments and performances from other countries such as India, Africa, and Indonesian. My academic adviser co-edited with Elliot Schwartz, Contemporary Composers on Contemporary Music which I have thoroughly explored. There are additions of this book set in a Music History context from music written from 1959- 1970 and 1970 1980 all written by the editors of Contemporary Composers on Contemporary Music, Eliot Schwartz and Barney Childs. The Book had a third contributing editor, Jim Fox, owner and producer of Cold Blue Records. Knowledge of early Minimalism, 1968-1973. Further knowledge of "Minimalism" or "Quasi Minimalism up until 2018. This comes from Keith Potter's book on Minimalism. Potter use to write for the New Music Magazine in the UK called Contact. This was in the UK. Potter lectured in our composition classes at the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. Knowledge of Mainstream American Music, Experimental Music, and Third Stream American Music. A new book out of Chicago, " Chicago Art Ensemble" deals with musicians in community. Transcribed Quechuan Hymns from Peru, about twenty in all. Compiled an 80 page non-annotated Bibliography for my composition professor on Post-Modernism. Have taken two courses from Reasons to Believe Scientific Think Tank on Critical Thinking Skills and Biology (Evolution vs. Creation). Wrote two hundred pages of pagers assigned to these classes based on lectures, assignments, and much reading. Everything from Okam's Razor, to Homo-logy to exploration of the Cambrian Explosion (Biological Big Bang) to doing a Book Review of Francis Collins', the Language of God. To exploring the thinking of Hume, Kant, and Hegel. Studied on my own the thinking of Soren Kierkegaard the "Danish Time Bomb." Outside studies include reading of Classical Novels, Shrinks by Jeffery Lieberman, Smear by Sharyl Atkinson, The Vanishing American Adult, by Ben Sasse, Martin Luther's Commentary on the book of Galatians. Orchestration book by Rimsky-Korsakov. Two semesters on Orchestration, one at UCLA with Luci de Jesus and one at the University of Redlands using Ken Keenan's book and workbook on orchestration, with professor Wayne Bornstdat. Interested in continuing my studies in Orchestration through Samuel Adler's book on the subject. Read papers on Arvo Part. Less
