As a top performing operations manager with about 10 managers and 250 hourly employees at me previous place of employment. I was asked to take over our new hire group which was bringing down our overall call center statistical performance. It was difficult because my performance would drop significantly and would take time to build a new hire team that will exceed performance as I was accustomed. I recruited the top performing leads and trained them to provide stellar support and coaching to employees on a personal, individual level. I met with the trainers to identity specific skills needed prior to taking the first call. Within 45 days the new hire teams were comparable to our experienced representatives. Within 90 days some new hire teams were exceeding performance and all staff exiting training was meeting performance standards within 2 weeks.
I guess they get so many people who can't perform basic, and I mean very basic, math that this 6th grade level test is necessary. Why I would need to know how to work a cash register (I do) to manage a frame shop is beyond me.
