Asked my current salary, and when I stated I wasn't asking for a match or higher, they pressed for my current salary. The light was shut off when they found out my current salary.... I knew the job was no longer in my grasp.
I agree to measurable outcomes prior to start. Those are my reference point, and I lean on those if management becomes concerned. I take the view that, once those outcomes are set, the manager is too valuable to obsess on the process. Let me live or die on the outcomes.
