I said I would research the sales history of the product to see if that is what caused the negative availability. I would also look at the movement of the product such as PO receipts, variance adjustments and inbound or outbound transfers that may not have been processed. Once the root cause is found, that would determine the correction process which may entail a cycle count, receiving / adjusting a PO, process a return / exchange of a sale if it has been determined that the wrong product was rung up,
