Job specific Interview Questions
How do you give about giving a presentation without preparation or knowledge of the subject? 6 AnswersJob description said NOTHING about giving presentations nor did anyone offer that this would be a quality expected of a BA when directly asked about it (if so, I would have prepared an adequate response). That information was deliberately withheld from me in an effort to trip me up in the formal interview. I'd answer this by saying that these were actually two different questions - how one feels about giving a presentation on something you have knowledge about but on the fly, versus how one feels about giving a presentation about which one lacks knowledge. Clearly, the first situation would be preferable. I guess you could see it that way, but it wasn't that way at all. By virtue of the fact that they wouldn't move on to the next topic/question after it was answered, it was clear to me that this was a question intended to disqualify/trip me up. Show More Responses Personally, I would say that this question isn't about giving presentations; it's about how you handle uncomfortable situations that can arise in business with little warning. How do you give a presentation on a subject you know little about? Don't give a speech, instead, utilize a roundtable discussion method to bring any knowledge the audience might have into the discussion in the hopes that the group's knowledge will help to make the presentation more fruitful and beneficial for everyone. Often, interview questions are not about specific job responsibilities, but rather about skills they are looking for in potential candidates. A basic template for presentation is responding to this set of questions: What, Why, Where, When, Who, and How? Some people add How much? To be honest , I would just play it off . I would use all my knowledge and understanding of the topic and say it . If I don’t know nothing , then I don’t say nothing . Easy you shouldn’t be forced to give a presentation with a lack of knowledge, that is plain dumb . Don’t play yourself . It’s better not to say nothing and just excuse your self : |
Human Resources Coordinator at GoHealth was asked...
I'm going to give you a scenario just to see how you think. If you had an employee approach you after not being promoted, although they said they were promised the promotion, what would you do? 9 AnswersTake some time to think about your answer. I had never been in a situation like this before, so I just had to think about what would be appropriate and logical. Ask the employee to tell you what happened, ask if it's still possible for the employee to get the promotion, request to speak to the manger, find out if the manager had the authority to give the promotion, etc. I have had this situation many times. I would confirm with the employee what type of promotion were they seeking; promotion in job level or into new position. I then do a little research to see what position they currently hold and have held previously, in the company and externally. We have an internal resume, so I would look at that too. I would also ask the employee why she/he were interested, thought she/he were competitive and what she/he did to prepare. This helps me to get a basic understanding if they really were ready for the position. I have found many employees may be ready to move on, but don't understand how to get ready for the next opportunity. They often believe that tenure, "experience" in one position automatically makes them qualified for the next job. The experience they have gained in one position may not have anything to do with the next position, but they believe they should be given the opportunity because of tenure/success in their current role. I would then ask the employee what type of feedback did they get on why they were not selected. If they did not get specific feedback which would help them understand why they were not selected, I follow up with the hiring manager to request a little more detail. I would then provide the feedback to the employee along with additional resources to help them prepare for the next opportunity. I have found this to be successful. Often employees complain because they don't have a clear understanding of the promotion policy and what is needed to grow their career. Providing employees with clear communiction and guidance on the organization's promotion and succession management process and philosophy helps to avoid these types of issues. Thanks. The first thing I have to ask is why didn’t they get it and what did I know about it? Was there training or preparation that they missed and why? I would also find out when the next opportunity would be and how the employee can best prepare for the role and then help them so they can be considered. Show More Responses I’ll sympathize with that person and after, tell them “it shouldn’t put you down” . It just means to work harder and you have room for improvements and far as promises go remember promises were meant to be broken.” One or more comments have been removed. |
Explain the perfect manager in your opinion. 4 AnswersA manager that is not just about "sales" and is invested in their employees as well as the company. Someone approachable and can tell me when they want things done in a specific way. A manager who does he/her job right but allows others to succeed and tell the employee their weaknesses Hey are you still hiring Show More Responses first one |
Paraeducator at Kent School District was asked...
How would you handle a situation in which a student became disruptive in class? 2 AnswersAs a paraeducator, I am in a perfect position to remove the child from the classroom and calm him/her down in a quiet one-on-one setting in order to allow the teacher to continue normal instruction and still give the disruptive child the attention they need. It all depends on the specific situation and what the student's IEP goals are. As a paraeductor, it is your job to follow direction of the teacher and the behavior plan outlined in the student's IEP. |
How would you handle multiple projects and deadlines from different supervisors? 7 AnswersFocus on establishing priorities and ensuring that projects are broken down into manageable sizes. Don't be afraid to ask for help or let the manager know if you aren't able to complete a project by the deadline, but have a reason. Stay organized and keep track of the status of the projects. By staying involved in each project and in constant contact with my supervisors on each project, also prioritizing and coordinating particular tasks on each sight with the contractors and supervisors of fellow trades so that production isn't slowed down by working around other trades finished product or waiting for things to be moved or revised by the architect. STAYING AHEAD OF THE GAME!!!! communication skills and flexibility within reason for other trades and there work limitations Show More Responses One or more comments have been removed. |
Intern at Northwestern Mutual was asked...
What is it about this job that interests you? 1 AnswerMake sure you research the job description and are ready to speak to specific roles and responsibilities. |
Role play with interviewer. Interviewer calls you to invest in stock that was recommended by neighbor. 1 AnswerIt is your job to sell him on the idea of mutual funds. Ask him questions about his current situation, know the customer, understand asset allocation, understand diversification and give specific examples of why investing large amounts of money in one stock takes on a lot of risk. |
Name a time your need to deal with ethical dilemma. 529 AnswersSeems to be the most frequently asked question based on previous postings. Just found out I passed the WCST on Tuesday. Waiting eagerly to hear about a phone interview. Today was the last day to take the exams, so I would assume we will hear beginning next week once they've ranked us. Anyone out there apply for the Large Bank position? I was surprised there's only one location for that one. There were so many for the Small/Community position. Congratulations Betty, I think you are right, phone interviews should be scheduled in the next week and taking place between 10/30-11/3 week( based on comments from past recruiting cycle), and career day should be in the 11/15 week and we can possibly hear the final results before thanksgiving or 1-2 weeks after that. In terms of big banks examiners, I guess they just don’t need that many this cycle. BTW, which districts did you apply? I applied San Francisco and Houston, probably not a good idea (both big cities and not in the same districts). :( Show More Responses Thank you! Congrats to you, too. Fingers crossed you get your top pick. I think I read somewhere that you won't be considered for your 2nd choice if it's from a different district. Is that true? I went Large Bank, so Pittsburgh/Monroeville for me. I already live here, so I'm hoping it's an "unattractive" destination for others. Haha Thank you! I actually want my 2nd pick lol, when I applied I have no idea what I was doing lol. I am not sure if it is true or not that I won’t be considered for my 2nd pick but it might be a good question to ask during career day. I didn’t go large bank because of the location, so your guess might be right.😜 Please keep us posted for your progress. It is said people who passed the tests will at least get a phone interview, sounds like survivor bias to me but it’s time to brush up interview questions! I think it makes sense that they wouldn't allow it. The location you'd be invited to for CED would be different between two different districts. One district wouldn't be able to make an employment decision for another district. With that said, it would be nice if the rules were clearer from the beginning to give people more of a chance. I found some of this process to be arduous... Though I suppose the most difficult parts are still to come. :) I agree with you that you should not be able to make 2 selections across different districts if they are not prepared internally. That is not fair for candidates who are not familiar with the organizational structure of OCC. But one of major requirements of this position is traveling and relocating, so I guess we all need to be prepare to be assigned to where ever we are needed. There are plenty of opportunities to move around when we get in, so I am not to frustrated about it, I will be comfortable where ever as long as my family is happy and opportunity to grow. I agree with you that we have several challenges to overcome in the coming 1 month, try not to over stress it, first of all, there is always a 2nd chance, and secondly, this is just a job application. Hopefully we will have more candidates joining the conversion soon and by then, we should have a better overall picture. Hey guys, I took the exam 10/5 and I found out I passed the WCST on 10/6. They said by 10/20 we will receive a phone call so I am still waiting as well. I started to get nervous for a minute because some time has passed but from this thread it seems as if we are all still waiting for the call haha. Hi, Dc_94, congratulations on passing the test and welcome to the discussion. There is no need to worry, the test deadline was 10/12, and the written portion needs 72 hrs to be graded(although it seems everyone gets their result in one day). So I believe they just got all the results last Friday. Next week they will sort all the application/test result and making list for the phone screening. Brush up your interview skills, it will come before you know it! I also passed the two portions of the assessment although I was concerned that I didn't do the written section well. The knowledge portion was by far the easiest exam I've ever taken. So now I'm anxiously awaiting from them about screening. Interviews have never been my strong point, so I'm a bit worried. This is my only opportunity for work/internships as no other companies invited me to an interview for busy season. So I'm pretty much putting all my eggs into this one basket. There are lots of smaller companies that don't necessarily hire for "busy season" that will provide challenging and rewarding experiences if you don't make it this time around, Chris. There's no shortage of entry-level accounting jobs out there, for sure, and you can always apply again next cycle and have the upper hand. This is a very competitive program, from what I gather of it, but you probably did better than you think. Keep the faith, and good luck!! I took the tests very early in the process, so I have been eagerly awaiting this week to find out about a phone interview. Applied for the small bank position for June 2018 start dates in St. Louis and Indianapolis. I am hoping these are less of a preference for many. Good luck to everyone! Hello everyone, this will be my third time applying for the job. I have gotten all the way to the interview part but did not receive an offer. I hope this time I can get the position. Show More Responses Welcome to the discussion, it is very nice to know that you trying for your 3rd time, keep up the good spirit! I believe we can consider you the most experienced here, could you give us a brief description of your past experience with OCC? The good, the bad and tips and tricks... Much appreciated and hope you can get in with the ideal location you have in mind! Welcome, Chris, Damien04! Please keep us posted if you hear anything about the phone interview. Hello and good luck to everyone. I passed both tests, but I wished I'd have known about the issue with applying across two separate districts. I'm hoping that Cleveland isn't a preferable location for many, but my 2nd (Philadelphia) probably is. This is my first time applying, but I have some banking experience which I hope might help. I actually live in Pittsburgh as well, so I'm crossing my fingers for that one, although there are not many vacancies from what I understand. I'm glad to see a fellow 'Burgher among the ranks. Did you apply for both Mid and Large, RS403? I didn't know you COULD apply for both at the time, so I didn't. Though if I had known, the salaries in only cities I would leave PGH for wouldn't allow me to survive in them (NYC, San Fran, Boston)! I have experience, too, and taking a pay cut for this position is doable here, but feels impossible in most other cities because COL is so high. I just don't know how you get in, otherwise. I have 6 yrs of experience, but my application for a Level/Pay Band V position was rejected almost immediately. Welcome, RS403! Hello, Betty7, it looks like to me that you get in as a NB III, in 1 year, your got promoted to IV and 1 year after that, when you pass the exam and get commissioned, you get your NB V. So it is impossible for external applicants to apply for V as you would need to pass the exam, which is only offered internally. That does seem to be the case, Aurther. I've been watching for almost a year and have never seen a level IV position offered. So start at the beginning or you have to get commissioned somewhere else (FRB, FDIC, etc). The ad said being commissioned wasn't required, but I'm sure commissioned candidates are given preference!! Betty7, I think you should have better prospects at Band IV than most applicants with your level of experience. I only have 1.5 years out of college and I believe that I'm up against far more experienced candidates for III. Are any of you aware of individuals that have gotten hired either directly from school, or less than 2 years out? I do see your point on COL. One of the things that attracted me to the 'Burgh was its low COL, but unfortunately that means that salaries are lower as well. This position would represent about a 25% increase from where I stand now, but that might not mean much in Philly - definitely not in NYC! RS403, if you look through all the posts on glassdoor, you will notice several posts mentioned that they applied through school, which could mean they don't have experience, yet they still got the position. Don't talk yourself down, present yourself well and that is all you need, I don't see a point of considering how good/bad other candidates are. Hi everyone, please update if you got a call or email to set up a phone interview. If not, I believe it is safe now to call it a day and assume nobody got any news from OCC so far. Be sure to post your district if you hear, either way. Also, if your status changes on USAJobs, let us know that, too!! Show More Responses Does anyone know if calls for phone interviews go out exactly on the 20th? I just emailed Recruitment yesterday and they said if selected for phone interview then I would get a call before the end of October. Getting antsy! & in reference to the above question---because the email that I got for passing the written portion indicated before Oct 20th Hello, JM! Thanks for busting the silence here! LOL, I am anxiously waiting too. Unfortunately, I do not have prior experience for the recruiting cycle, but I believe they will set up a time with you first for a future time in terms of phone interview instead of cold calling people and goes into interview immediately. I have not received any calls from OCC yet, let us be patient and have faith team! BTW, if anyone got calls from OCC, please do share with us, thanks! I believe Oct 20 is the deadline they will set up phone interviews with "in the run" candidates. Hey, everyone! I passed my knowledge test on October 11th and found out that I had passed the written test on the 13th. I'm impatiently waiting to see if I will be moving forward in the hiring process. This is my dream post-college gig! I listed the Philadelphia office as my first choice location, and the San Francisco office as my second choice location. Good luck to everyone involved in this round of hiring! I'll provide an update when I receive any new information. Will I be rejected because of a recent collection on my credit report if I receive an offer? (debt has been paid) Good luck to you too, PhillyExplorer, welcome to the discussion. Looks like we are all nervous at this time, but based on the past posts, wait until after Career Exploration Day folks, anxious gauge will probably go through the roof, LOL. Hi, Mac, that is a good question but I am afraid that is the question only OCC HR can answer and I will probably NOT bring it up until the career day when they have experts in that subject on site and ask in private, but that is just my suggestions. I hear it, Aurthur. I interviewed with the Fed in NYC in May and it was July before they got back to me with a rejection. I've barely come down from "red alert" from that. I'm not emotionally prepared for a long wait on this! Haha! That's a good question, Mac. I know from previous posts that they do pull credit, but I have no idea what the criteria for "acceptable" credit are. Hi, Betty, how are you doing? It already past 5PM there on the east coast so I guess it is safe for you to call it a day and go home, kick off your shoes and put a movie on. It will be a torture to us as the career day will be around Thanksgiving and waiting for some news for such a long holiday is not going to be fun, maybe it will be a good time to take some part time jobs during that time frame to switch focus a little. Fed is really difficult to get in as far as I know, last time I checked the employee profiles on their website, most of them have a PhD in economics...And Fed does not even use the USAJOBS channel to accept the applications, that just tells me how cocky they are LOL, so don't beat yourself up too much. It seems nobody got called so far, that is a good sign to me.. Show More Responses Well... The Federal Reserve is gov't affiliated, but they aren't a gov't agency. I'm pretty sure they can't use the USAJobs portal. I'm good, otherwise. Just impatient. You? Here's to hearing something tomorrow! Still Waiting.. LOL. I'm glad to know we are all in the same boat though, makes me feel a little less crazy ! Today is the 19th and we still didn't hear anything, this is weird considering on the previous two times I have applied for the position, the employee from OCC called me promptly to have the phone interview Well at least we are ALL in the same boat. I'd be crushed if you all had heard and I didn't. 😎 Did they cold-call you on the spot for the phone interview without setting up a time? Not need to worry team, as long as none of us got any calls so far. Keep faith up, finish the book you are reading, continue working hard at your job, spend time with your family. Once the wheels start spinning, we won’t have much time for those. I’m 1000000000% sure that they email you with directions on how to schedule the phone interview, if you get selected for the phone screening. They don’t call to set that up. Looks like they're bringing it right down to the wire....... Almost 5 p.m. on the east coast. looks like we'll hear tomorrow Well, hopefully this is the last day of compulsively checking the phone for an email or call. Good luck, everyone!! too late. i've already lost my mind. it is no more Show More Responses Hey guys! Just saw that my status on my application changed from "received" to "reviewed" and it says I met the minimum qualifications! No email yet though! Anyone else? No status change, but I got my email. My phone interview is Monday. 😁 i applied for the large bank and midsize bank positions... rejected on large bank, still waiting to hear on midsize. I suspect if i'm rejected on one i will be on the other too, but we'll see. Just received the email for phone interview! Congratulations!! Nothing for me yet...patient patient... Has anyone heard from south or western district yet? i applied to southern and western. nothing yet I only applied to Western and nothing yet :/ Last year I applied to Southern & Eastern, they seem to be quicker about the process.. From what I read in the previous forum, Southern district tends to take longer during the application process. Still waiting, but starting to freak out! My status on USAJobs still says "received", I haven't received any form of communication yet, and it's 1:47PM here on the East Coast. I applied to the Eastern (Philadelphia) and Western (San Francisco) regions. I'll try to stay sane for the rest of the day! Hi all, Ive been watching this chain for the past week..I just received the email to interview next Wednesday for Large banks ...my status for that app also changed to "reviewed". My app status for small to mid is unchanged. I applied last minute..took the exams the last day. Im in Rochester but want to get out of WNY...my background is in mortgage banking and Roc has no more plentiful opportunities like it used to with an underwriting background so why not Congratulations, team! Just got my email for Large Banks, but no status change for MCBS. Just hang tight. :) Show More Responses UPDATE: I received my phone-screening interview email shortly after 3:00PM! I will be interviewing with the Philadelphia office. Good luck to everyone else! I'll be back when I find out how I did on the phone interview. UPDATE: Hi, team, I got my interview email just now (12:40 San Francisco time) for next Tuesday! Looks like western district is sending out invites now. Anyone else apply for Santa Ana & LA? Congrats to everyone who has gotten a phone interview, I applied to Central, for the Midsized and Community, haven't heard anything, and the status is still received. Are they gonna send email to tell you if you are NOT selected to have the interview? Has anyone heard from the central region? I haven’t heard anything from them for small banks. My large bank application says reviewed and I met minimum qualifications but no email yet. Actually just got the email to schedule phone interview from large bank I believe. Still waiting to here from central region for small banks good luck to everyone waiting! Still waiting on Central as well. Slowly but surely losing my mind! Has anyone been contacted about their phone interview yet? From the email I received after passing my exams, we would hear something no later than today. My application status says reviewed & I met the qualifications but no email :/ 8PM here on the east coast. Show More Responses I just received an email today for scheduling the phone-screening interview. I applied for the Central district for Community/Mid-sized banks. As of 11:16 PM, I received an email to schedule to Midsize bank phone screening for the central, just letting you all know. I assumed that I would receive an email telling me that I either did or did not manage to get an interview. Maybe I'm wrong, but that seemed to be the idea. As of Saturday morning now, I have yet to get anything, and my application still shows a "Received" status. I suppose this just means that I wasn't accepted which I pretty much assumed would happen from the start, but it would be nice to hear that from them directly rather than guessing. Mine says “reviewed”. Not sure what that means in this process. I was losing hope, but received an email this morning for a phone interview. I hope everyone else has heard back by now. Btw, I applied for the Midwest region. anyone else get an incomplete? It says not further for consideration, guessing I didn't make it... I applied for both a large bank position (Pittsburgh) and also a MCBS position. I was emailed Friday for an interview that seems to be from the large bank division, but have not heard anything from the MCBS. Is it possible this one interview will encompass both? Since it is Saturday afternoon, should I assume that I am NOT going to be interviewed for the MCBS position? I finished scheduling my phone interview for this Wednesday for the West Coast region. I'm pretty nervous about it as I'm trying to recruit for a job after I graduate this May. Anyone have any experience with the phone interview and what kind of questions do they ask? Alright, here we go! It's real now! I actually just got my email inviting me to my screening for MCBS on Wednesday (I honestly don't remember/know what that stands for). This was a lot later than I expected, but I'm very excited to still be in the running. Good luck to everyone else! Update: Got the email last night around 10PM to interview with the Cincinnati Office! Show More Responses Has anyone heard anything for MCSB Pittsburgh location? Hey everyone! When I applied I listed my top choices as the Philadelphia office and the New York office but it looks like the employees who are setting up the screening interview are from the Pittsburgh office. Did I mess up or can you still get scheduled for interviews from offices that weren't your top two choices? @Oats - You can review the 162 other interviews on this website to get an idea of what they will ask. From what I understand, both the phone and in-person interviews are 99% behavioral questions. @Anon - I didn't think there was a Pittsburgh location for MCBS, just LBS? I'm gonna kick myself if I missed out on doubling my odds of getting an OCC job without moving. Lol @Ben - I wouldn't sweat it. It seems they're behind the 8 ball this cycle. Pittsburgh might just be helping out to get everyone scheduled ASAP. The person doing your interview and their location has nothing to do with the location you applied. I just got my email as of 11:00 am there's still hope if you didn't receive one yet! I was told that if you applied for both large and midsize you still only have one phone interview, and that will encompass both. I passed the OCC written test and I was suppose to receive a notification by Oct 20. I have not received an email at all. Any thoughts? Had my phone interview for LBS. Was exactly as expected. Lasted about a half hour, give or take. She said that CED for LBS will be in Chicago this year. I love Chicago, so let's hope I get to see it. Let the anxiety begin!! 😬 Congratulations, Betty7! Sounds like you nailed it!! Could you share with us a little bit of the questions the interviewer asked? Also, What date the CED might be and when do you expect to hear anything back for the CED? Again, good job! Looks like the research and practice do pay off. Just had my phone interview for MCBS! We actually went a little bit over since the call took about 48 minutes. I don't think I did so well (I'm very sick, so my voice isn't all the way there), but I'm still hopeful. She did ask a lot of follow-up questions and seemed interested in my answers! She also told me to get well, so at least she realized that I'm sick. I was told that CED for the Northeast region will be the week of November 13th, and that we'll know something by November 9th. I'm going to take a break from this site to avoid becoming overly anxious in anticipation, but I really hope to see some of you in NYC on the week of November 13th! Show More Responses Thanks for all the information, PhillyExplorer! Hope you get better soon, time to get ready for the CED I guess. Still nervous about tomorrow myself lol, please share with us about the questions interviewer asked or anything you think worth mentioning. My interview is 4:00 PM at interviewer's time so I don't want to keep her for too long and she probably wants it over sooner as well... Interviewer asked STAR questions we've all seen: Difficult team member, a time you went above and beyond, a time you had to deal with change, etc. Also asked a few other random questions about willingness to travel, what you expect to get out of the experience, etc. Literally nothing I wasn't expecting. I forgot to ask when we'd hear back. That was silly of me, but I was kind of keyed up. 😁 CED will be a 1/2 day meet n' greet with Execs and EICs followed by the panel interview. scheduled for phone interview on wednesday. i think i screwed the pooch since i submitted an lbs application for pitt and mc for a station in the western district and another one in the southern district. based on what i've read in this thread and last years thread, will they just ignore my 2nd and 3rd choice and leave me only with pitt? -failson: Yes, you will be considered for the lBS only unless there is a shortage of recommended candidates for your 2nd choice. The 3rd choice is almost guaranteed to be ignored unless something else happens or your 2nd and 3rd choices don't have enough candidates that applied -PhillyExplorer and everyone else: The CED will be in the headquarter office of NYC on 340 Madison Ave. OCC will be placing you in a 4 star hotel near time square, most likely a Sheraton for the night before the interview. After the interview is done they will take you in for fingerprints and a small chat from other assistant national bank examiners. After that you will get a call back after one week to notify you that you have gotten an offer or send you an email 2-3 weeks later for rejection. well thank you for confirming my suspicions. i may as well apply next round to multiple cities in the same region =/ @Aurther of this post I can't guarantee that you'll get the same questions, but I suggest thinking about your answers to why you chose the OCC/why are you interested in finance and banking, times you've worked in difficult groups, and times when your actions made a positive impact. The willingness to travel and relocate questions are pretty self-explanatory. Hope that helps a little! To the anonymous poster: will the OCC put me in a hotel if I live in Philly? Also, will they put me on Amtrak instead of flying me into JFK due to the relatively short distance between the cities? Thanks for that big slice of helpful information! ^That last post was mine, btw! I forgot to add a name to it haha Congrats to all of you. I didn’t pass the WSCT.... and I was so shocked beyond belief. I definitely did not expect that. How did you guys write your assessments? I didn’t think I was not concise. Any tips? (For next time!) We can't share anything regarding the exam as agreed in the terms upon taking the exam. I'd say read the guidelines they provide on the cover page of the written exam. Show More Responses Good luck to you today, Aurther. Let us know how it goes! Just had my MCBS phone interview for central, it went a bit over, which I hope is good, we talked about a lot of behavioral situation, do work above and beyond, handle change, etc. Chatted a bit about international travel experience, told me a lot about the training period and what I would expect. Said I would hear back at latest by 11/9/17. Does it sound like it went well to you all? Hope everyone else is having good impressions from the phone interviews. I just had my phone interview too, I don't know how it went but I felt it was decent. Mine lasted about 25 minutes for MCBS. Does anyone know how many positions are available in Central? Hi, team, I have finished my interview, I think I did OK... I was asked about 4 behavior questions, and they all have been covered in the past posts, so preparation is key and don't forget to answer in the STAR format. Other than that, we talked a little bit about my past experience, and the travel and relocation related to this position. The lady who did the interview with me was nice. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. Just like everyone has been informed so far, CED is gonna be in the week of Nov. 13 and we shall hear something by 9th. I need to relax a little bit now and catch up with my work and school before the big day comes... Not sure if I missed anything, if you have any questions, please ask and I can see if I can relate. Thanks everyone for your support, great team here and good luck to everyone!! i think i did extremely good in this interview. i don't believe i made the cut for lbs (pitt) but my interviewer said that if i pass the CED for western district is in denver since i applied for iowa. so based on these answers it looks like each region's CED will be located at their central office: Eastern: NYC Western: Denver, CO Midwest: Chicago South: Dallas hopefully this should clarify everything for some people since i was confused at first. good luck to everyone I want to revise that - Eastern - NYC Western - Denver Midwest & LBS only - Chicago South - Dallas Both MCBS & LBS - ??? (Has previously been in D.C.) betty you might be correct but if i am not mistaken was pitt the only lbs location in this recruiting round? How can I know if the interview went very well or not? Would the interviewer comment on it at the end if it was good? Yes, you are right. PGH was the only location for LBS, which is what I applied for. The interviewer told me LBS CED is in Chicago. Show More Responses It's likely if you are interviewing for *both* MCBS and LBS (regardless of what district your MCBS spot is) that it's in Chicago, too, I just can't confirm because I didn't submit a MCBS application. >It's likely if you are interviewing for *both* MCBS and LBS (regardless of what district your MCBS spot is) that it's in Chicago, too, I just can't confirm because I didn't submit a MCBS application. that seems reasonable to assume. i feel like i should've cleared that up with my interviewer I was told that for sure if that you are selected for both midsize and large the career exploration day will be in Chicago. Also I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into how long your phone interview was. Mine was almost a hour but my interviewer dominated the conversation so I do not think it went that well. Is today the last day of phone interviews? No it's not mine is tomorrow. The last day for interview should be tomorrow because in the interview email it stated that if the proposed time for the interview is not convenient for you, you can suggest another time but it must be before 10/26 COB, which is tomorrow. I think it is important to look back (if you have done the interview) and review the notes to see what you did well and what you kind of stumbled then make improvement, after all, it's all about the CED interview and phone interview is a good practice. It's a good idea to sort of reverse-engineering and try to figure out what OCC is thinking but overdoing it is probably not a good idea. I would suggest take all the present and past comments, what your friends and neighbors said into consideration, but always only take OCC website and direct communication with OCC as the only valid resources. It's really nice to see so many of us advanced this far, don't forget why and how you started and keep on fighting! Hi guys, I had my interview today, and I was wondering a few things. First, if you were to live 7 hours away from your CED location, would the OCC pay for your flight and hotel? Second, I think I did fairly decent with my phone interview, and I was wondering how everyone else is feeling? Good luck to all of you! Yes they pay. However, sometimes the hotel is paid through reimbursement. but if its reimbursement, one always has the option of just doing airbnb in chicago right? I had my interview this morning, it went well. My interviewer was great, answered all my questions. There was nothing that participating in this forum did not cover or help me prepare for. I am being considered for LBS although I applied for both LBS and MCBS (I assume because of my background). Show More Responses Failson, the travel for CEW is centrally booked by the OCC. They'll simply tell you where you are staying Congrats Shar. So your interviewer told you that you are considered for LBS? My app status never changed, still received. Anyone’s the same? I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to USAJOBS.GOV applications, but I did apply for about 30 openings so far and from my personal experience, the status is NOT a good indicator of anything except the "received" you got initially. The best indicators for this position is following: 1. Test Invitation Email (you application is received correctly) 2. Phone Screen Interview Email(you passed the test and have met the minimum requirement) 3. CED invitation email (you passed the screen interview) 4. Offer Call! (you passed everything! Well, I am not sure if they're gonna call or email, but from past post, seems like it's going to be a call) I got about 5 applications in USAJOBS that are referred, 3 showing reviewed and 9 showing received. They don't make a difference to me. In terms of traveling, from the past post, OCC will book your ticket to the CED (airplane or train), so no worry there. But when it comes to hotel, it's a mix bag. It seems in the past that OCC only made reservation for the hotel but did NOT pay upfront. On CED you fill in a reimbursement form for that cost. It could be some time before you get reimbursed, so it's probably a good idea to set aside some money to cover that. The occ pays 100% of your transportation and lodging for CED. They reimburse you for meals and per say you had to leave your car at the airport garage. Thank you Author for the explanation. I just received an email stating that I did not qualify for LBS yet they confirmed that I did a phone interview for MCBS. The only confusing part is that they said I'll get a response by Nov 17th regarding the status of my MCBS application. This kinda contradicts what's been stated in this whole thread since CED is on the week of Nov 13th. This means I'm not in the running for my first office choice but nothing else. ^Aurther I meant. -PhillyExplorer and Everyone else: When chosen for the CED, Occ will ask you to choose how would you like to travel to the field office to have the interview. There are three options to choose from: 1. Drive your own vehicle. OCC will pay at a flat rate in regards to how many miles you have reported for traveling to the office and back home. 2. Flight tickets will be issued to you if you choose to fly, you have to submit your location and the preference to travel either in morning, afternoon or night time. OCC then will book the flight for you. 3. Amtrak. If you live closer to the filed office for CED and choose not to take the flight, a preference of taking the train will be available to you. Same procedure with above, you have to submit your location and the preference to travel either in morning, afternoon or night time. OCC then will book the Amtrak for you. For all methods of traveling listed above, reimbursement for taxi is provided. For example even if you choose to drive to the filed office location and stayed in a hotel the night before, you can still call a cab to arrive at the field office the next morning and not have to worry about where to park your vehicle. Meals will not be reimbursed, so keep that in mind. Show More Responses Anybody knows if they check with the supervisors you listed on the resume? I did not quite get long with one of my previous boss but I listed her as it seems to be a requirement when you fill in the resume through USAJOBS. If same questions from screen interview were to ask on CED, will you answer with the same example for behavioral questions? What is your opinion? Absolutely. I've already been over and over and over my responses. I've picked the best anecdotal stories I can come up with in the six years I've been an auditor. An in person setting will afford a little more time and opportunity to expound on those stories, so as to answer the questions more completely and give the interviewer more of a clear picture. I wouldn't try to come up with a second explanation that doesn't answer the question as well, just for the sake of having a "new" response. I was just invited via email to CED in Chicago on the 15th! Good luck everyone. Get ready for your emails! Hi. Had my phone interview. Was curious if anyone knew how long you're away for CED since it's in the middle of the week?? I applied for southern district so I'd be going to Dallas. @JM - The entire event is 3 days (13th-15th), but the part you have to be at is 1/2 a day. How long you are actually in the city will entirely depend on what you coordinate with the scheduler, and how far away you are from your headquarters. Congratulations, Betty7!! Great news! Refreshing my mailbox every 5 mins. 😂😂 *Update: just got my invitation to Denver for CED ! It’s gonna to Nov. 16th for me.😊 Congrats Betty7 and Betty7! Hope you both nail it! Still waiting on mine for Central, were yours for MCBS or LBS? Thank you. I'm LBS. Aurther is MCBS Western, I believe. Show More Responses Sorry, Betty7 and Aurther Congrats, Betty and Aurther! I guess the Western District is starting to send out invites. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Northeast. Best of luck to you two! Hi, team, I am applying for MCBS. Wish you all good luck!! Got the invitation for CED in Chicago on 11/15. Good luck to all! Is anyone familiar with the travel process? My CED begins at 7:30 A.M. on a Wednesday, I assume they would fly me out the night before? My flight would only be about 1 our, but is a 5 hour drive. Just received an email inviting me to CED November 14, 2017 in Denver! Good luck to you all :) I just received my invitation for the CED in New York for the Northeast hell yes got invited for CED on 11/15 in denver. i was panicking because i thought the invitation email was a phishing scam so i checked the original headers and ssl certs and everything looked fine i guess. good luck to all of you! Just got my CED in New York for the 14th, did anyone get their CED on the 13th? I'm trying to figure out if they are doing CED from 13-15 or 14-16 for the northeast Has anyone heard (or not heard) about CED in Chicago for MCBS? I just received my invitation for CED in New York on the 15th. So I believe it’s the 13-15. Show More Responses Invitation for CED in Chicago, on the 16th! LBS or MCBS? NYC on the 14th here. I applied for LBS and MCBS. Does anyone know if they're in the running for both or one or the other? Received invite for Chicago on the 14th. Am I the only person that found it extremely strange that they requested that we elect a cell phone carrier. I've been a federal employee for quite awhile, and have moved a few times across agencies, and found that quite strange. Anyway, see you NYC peeps Nov 14th :) They provide you with a cell phone. It will be a Washington DC based line. You can pick AT&T or Verizon, or you can use your personal number and it'll be subsidized some. does anyone know what they mean by 'departure address'? do they mean your home address and the time it takes to reach your preferred airport? Found out I will be in Denver on 11/15 for the western district CED. Who else from here will be there on that day? Congrats to everyone Got an invite to CED on Nov 14th in Chicago. I saw that someone else had a CED on the 16th in Chicago. Are the dates random, or is there a certain reason some people go to an earlier CED? Also, how many people usually get invited to one of these? It seems like almost everyone here who got a phone interview got an invite. Show More Responses It does seem most have gone on to the next round and it is exciting but in all honesty I do have reservations about moving twice long distance in a 6 mos period and the logistics of that as a single person. (After hire travel is no problem). General high turnover of the position seems apparent, something I ordinarily treat as a flag when job hunting. Did anyone who did their phone interview with the Philly office get invited to CED? Anyone have any knowledge of the day that you were given for CED having any meaning, or just being random? I am not sure if the dates mean anything, maybe OCC HR knows. In my opinion, team, everyone has his or her equal shot at this point at CED. OCC is paying for everything for us to go there and experience their culture and opportunities, so I appreciate their gesture and efforts and of cause the money. I am not worrying about who is in front of me, behind me, with me for the CED, I am not worried even if Alan Greenspan is in my group at that day. It’s all about you now, sharp up everything for CED and you will be fine. BTW, I am really excited to see Denver(never been there). Good luck, folks! this is probably speculation but i would gather turnover is a function of the ratio of travel (ie the share of travel in excess of 50 miles so your put into a hotel vs regular vehicle travel to client sites) and the general office culture. i would also imagine office culture plays a crucial role in this. Well, guys, I didn't make it this time. I received my rejection email about two hours ago. I suppose that's what I get for trying to do the interview while extremely sick. Oh well, I guess I'll apply again in January. Congrats to everyone who was invited to CED! I will no longer comment since I'm out of this recruiting cycle's round, but I will likely continue to watch and see how some of the posters that I recognize advance in the process. -PhillyExplorer: Best of luck to you, just remember there are people who applied 3-4 times to OCC to get an offer. See you in the next round of recruiting cycle. Just found out about this thread. I applied early in October and took my test Oct 11. Found out I passed the following week and had my phone interview the following week. Got a call Oct 31 that I got invited to CED. My CED will be between Nov 13-15 in Dallas. Does anyone know what to expect? Type of questions they will ask? @PhillyExplorer, please come back and check the feedbacks everyone got from CED and I am sure with all the experience you have now, you will be much better prepared for the next cycle (which is right around the corner after holiday season). Compare with other government agencies, OCC has a much faster pace when it comes to recruiting. Good luck!! Hi. Does anyone remember what they said the start date would be for the position? I have my Interview the 14th, but I am trying to plan a trip during the end of December and beginning of January. Thanks guys!! Show More Responses This may be a stupid question, but since they are flying me down and putting me up in a hotel, I assume I am in charge of finding my own taxi to the building. based on what they sent in the invitational email the instructions say that flight and hotel costs are billed directly to the OCC (ie theyre paying for it) and i think you can get reimbursed for taxi expenses from your hotel to the office and other expenses. I made it to CED in Dallas back in April and I was reimbursed for my mileage to and from the airport, parking, and my Lyft to the interview and back to the airport. I didn’t eat anything that day, but I assume that they would have reimbursed me for that as well. According to OCC we don't get reimbursed for meals. Just airfare, mileage, hotel, and transportation to and from airport & hotel. Any idea on if they’re still sending invites to CED? CED invites are done How do you know they're done? And do you mean for a specific region or all regions? I was told CED invites or rejections would be sent out at latest by November 9th, but this was from my phone interview for MCBS in Central. I haven’t heard back either way. Is the hotel usually pretty close to the office where CED will take place? Has anyone in the Southern District received an invitation/rejection yet? Show More Responses Also, if they do reject you, do they email you or just leave you guessing? @Tobo- Some people in this thread have already received rejection emails so I assume everyone will get an email at somepoint They will tell you by November 9th for sure. In the meantime, as long as you haven’t received the rejection email, you shouldn’t give up hope, my 2 c. Do you have to put in a specific request for a hotel? If I'm 70 miles away will I qualify? I flew in and out the same day when I went to Dallas. I’m not sure what circumstances constitute getting a hotel room. My flight is in and out of Denver on the same day. I think that your travel preferences (departing morning, afternoon, or evening) that you selected in your candidate profile determine whether or not you get a hotel. I chose morning, so of course the least expensive thing for them to do is avoid a night in a hotel. Makes sense to me. Does anyone know how long CED will last? KCx - what else did they tell you when they sent your itinerary? I'm thinking I may also get flights on the same day since my time is 12:30 and I was curious as to how that will go down. Also, I believe it's 4 hours. Anon, that was all unfortunately. 2 flight numbers. What are the chances that they send out invites/rejections today. I’m tired of flapping in the wind, i would enjoy my weekend much more if I know what’s going on. I'd say 50/50. Acceptance of the invitation to CED was due by noon today. If people don't accept, it seems reasonable that they'd start going down the line inviting the next most qualified candidates. Good luck!! Show More Responses Curious, is everyone applying for the January start date? Yes, I beliece this is what's going on. That is why until the 9th, as long as no rejection letter yet, there is still chance to be invited. I'm LBS... June start. I applied for NY. June start date. I haven't received anything yet regarding the CED. No acceptance or rejection yet. Everyone with CED invite got their travel info yet? I have accepted the invite to NY on 14th but did not get any travel accommodation yet. NYC on the 14th also, haven't heard about travel accommodations yet CED invites are finished, if u didn't get it then you aren't invited, at least for the northeast region it is true How do you know that? A friend of a friends brothers girlfriend read it somewhere and told them so. lulz Show More Responses Well, since we are all waiting anxiously, which offices did everyone apply for?! I'll see some of you guys in Chicago on the 16th. I won't receive housing or transportation since I live less than 10 miles from the Chicago Central District office. Does anyone know how roughly long CED is? My begin time and departure time are only about 6 hours apart Depends. Afternoon is from 12:30-4pm I emailed my interviewer, because I thought the same thing - my flight home was too early. She said that they made some changes to the campaign this time around and that the whole thing is only about 2-2.5 hrs. Hope that helps. Anybody receive a recent invitation/rejection to the CED (within the past few days)? I'm still waiting for an email in general regarding CED. Haven't received an invite OR rejection for southern district. I was told i would hear back by Nov. 9. What time is your return flight? My session begins at 7:30 and my return flight is about 1:30. Seems like this may be too early. For those staying in a hotel, what do you plan on doing with your bag while at the interview? I assume we will have to check out of our rooms before hand. I'm going to pack light, but i will have that one bag with me and I don't know what to do with it. Didn't stay in a hotel last time but I had a backpack and they had a storage room, this was NYC office 7:30+2.5 hrs = 10am. That's *plenty* of time to make a 1:30 flight. The hotel they put me in is about 3 blocks from the event. I am leaving my bag with the front desk of the hotel after I check out. If you don't feel comfortable asking them to hold it, just bring it. Lots of people will be doing the same thing. Show More Responses As stated, you can leave your bag with the front desk at the hotel or you can bring it with you. They will have a closet/storage area for your bag(s) at your interview location. Has everyone received their travel details? I am still awaiting mine. I haven’t received my itinerary neither. I received my itinerary on Monday (11/6). My CED is in Chicago on the 14th though so itineraries might come later for later CEDs. Received mine today. If you haven’t received it, you may contact them to find out. Do they send a rejection email or is it just an acceptance email for ced? I'm new to the thread, and concur with timelines above. I've heard the time from CED to offer can be 2-3 weeks (yikes). It's been a long two+months of anxiety for me! I'm headed to Denver for CED next week as well. I have less than 10 years in finance industry, zero experience in public sector. I always had great experiences working with OCC Examiners in the past, so I'm excited to finally bite the bullet and go after this position. It's definitely a pay cut (initially), but I'm intrigued by the numerous career paths and specialties available. Best of luck to you all! Has anyone received their itinerary for NYC? No, I’m still waiting for my itinerary. My CED is in NYC also. I'm confused at why I haven't received an acceptance or rejection email regarding CED Show More Responses ^ Same here. I thought they were supposed to send SOMETHING by Nov. 9 They are still working on the itinerary for the CED in NYC. People still waiting to hear back from NYC? I am still waiting to hear back from NYC I’m still waiting on Dallas. Would’ve been nice if they had sent a rejection letter so I could’ve moved on weeks ago. USAJobs still shows ‘reviewed’. Guess they forgot about me I finally received my itinerary for CED in NYC! I wonder if every district sends rejection emails or does NYC just leave you hanging? If your flight will arrive about 3 to 4 hours before my interview starting time, how would you spend the time? Can we report to the office earlier than scheduled and wait there? Anyone still waiting on an itinerary for NYC? Not sure if they're going to give me assistance on my hotel so I emailed again I am still waiting for any sort of reply from them. Hopefully hear from them soon. I did not receive an acceptance or rejection email yet Show More Responses ^ same. No rejection or invitation from Dallas. (Pretty annoying) Those who are wondering if being left hanging is specific to a region, I haven't heard anything from about Chicago for MCBS. I'll be trying again next time around, but it's fairly annoying that I haven't heard anything Does anyone know what kind of questions they ask at the CED interview? Looking back at older Glassdoor posts, it seems the questions are very similar to the phone interview questions in any given hiring quarter, but the questions seem to differ from quarter to quarter. Someone who's been to CED before - does this sound right to you? Should I just be refining the answers I gave during the phone interview? I will be in Colorado on the day of the 14th but my interview isn’t until the 15th. Does anyone else have a schedule similar to this? I’m kind of wondering what I should do the entire day of the 14th. Dx, I'm in the same situation. I get flown out to Chicago on the 13, stay in a nice hotel, then have CED on the 14th. I'd just enjoy the city you're in, prep your interview answers in the hotel, and just relax. Anyone else still left in the dark about CED? Getting pretty frustrated. My interview is on Tuesday and I still didn't get my hotel arranged. I'm booking my own hotel for this Dx, same situation. I might go sightseeing since I'll get to my hotel at 12 and then probably sleep at 7. Not sure at what time you'll check into your hotel I also didn’t get my hotel arranged, I called and emailed multiple times. I booked my own, hopefully they will reimburse me. I still haven't got an itinerary and I'm not sure if they've booked a flight for me? Im in ohio and I'm supposed to be in NYC wednesday.... Show More Responses Guys!!!!!! Check your emails. The person in charge of traveling for the northeast have replied just now!!! Cancel ur hotels if you can!! They won't pay u for hotel if u booked ur own For those who are freaking out because they haven't heard anything. I emailed my phone interviewer and he was surprised nothing is being sent. He is asking around to figure out what is going on. What's so sad is the person claiming not to have heard anything and getting everyone in an uproar is most likely the same troll that was on the previous feed of over 700 comments and they are here on this feed again because they haven't ever been invited to CED or was invited and got turned down they are sick enough to create confusion and make everyone life miserable because they are miserable! I'm certain that OCC is competent enough to notify it's candidates! So don't believe the hype of this one troll that posted several of the same comments making it seem like there are several people that haven't received information-sick! Saw some of u guys today at the interview but none of you said hi Anyone have trouble checking in their hotel? Might be a dumb question but who makes the hiring decision? Is it the interviewers or the district offices you applied for? How's everyone's interview? The northeast ones should be all done by today My interview went great. PNC's Examiners that lead my interview were a delight. The presentation about the program was super informative. The initial phone interviewer said all offers for LBS would be made before Thanksgiving. FYI - they are hiring four people into Pittsburgh's LBS. Relieved it's over, and I am cautiously optimistic. Off to the airport! How many are interviewed for these four positions? More than 20 Show More Responses Hello, Betty, it’s great to know that your interview went well! I am stuck in SFO now because my plane is delayed, I wish I am in the position now I can be relieved too. Lol Hope everyone had great experience at CED so far and wish everyone best luck for tomorrow! Good luck to you, Aurther. You're prepared. As expected, it was exactly like the phone interview, just in person and different questions. My interview was 2:1, and the two gentlemen just took turns asking behavioral questions. Literally nothing that wasn't covered in this forum. I didn't ask the total number of candidates, but if I had to guess, I would say there were probably just over 20. Given that there were only 2 people in my group, and presumably groups at 8, 10, 12, and 2 for three days. MCBS was much larger. There were at least 5 candidates in the group that was at the same time as me. Is there any way of knowing how many positions there are for MCBS for the Northeast? Also, I thought CED was 14-16? Or was it only 2 days in NYC? It's only 2 days for northeast Hello! I applied for the MCBS Position for the Southern district with the preferred start date in June. I have yet to receive an e-mail regarding a CED invite for the specified visit. A few minutes ago, I called and left a voicemail for my interviewer regarding my concerns. I am hoping to hear something back. Until then, I will remain positive and keep praying for the CED Invite for the Southern District. Good luck to Everyone!!! Anyone know how many examiners the central office typically hires per location? Sorry to break it to you but the CED are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday of this week, if you were not invited then you are not invited and have to apply again next time Do you guys know how to submit reimbursement for food? I'm pretty sure they don't reimburse you for food Hello, team, I am done with interview about 2 hrs ago, sitting in the airport, very tired. The overall experience I had was very good, although I was asked a lot of questions during the interview, I think I got 10 at least in total, and about 7-8 were behavior questions. But like Betty said, there were no surprises on the questions , it just strikes me that I thought it was going to be like the phone interview for about 4-5 behavior questions. Anyways, great relief, I did the best I could for sure. Wish everyone gets the offer call starting next week! Show More Responses Truth to be told, if you are on the second day and even the third day of CED, chances are you are very unlikely to get selected. Your CED date as well as the group you been put in is designed specifically in mind with your overall score from the written test/multiple choice test and your phone interview. The best ones were to put on the first group on the first day, meaning they are the first ones get interviewed. It also means that if you do qualify for the job they will be considered before the candidates in the later groups or even in the later days. Keep in mind there are 4 groups per day and each group consists of 14-18 people. Considering the fact that each field office only hires 3-5 people, you can do the math yourself. Does it matter? Even if it’s the case, how many here would still go to CED if they are placed on 2nd or 3rd day? I know I would. Just letting people to be prepared as what will come next. Of course do attend CED I would rather have an HR representative to tell me if I must re apply. I don't think anyone here is an HR specialist employed by the OCC, therefore I cannot trust what is speculated. Tomorrow I shall receive an e-mail regarding my concerns for the Southern CED which has NOT taken place yet. Thank you! Check the other replies earlier, the southern one is in Dallas and already happened. The CED for all districts happens in this week November the 13th, reapply again next cycle and stop being delusional Calm yourself. You're a professional. Act like it. I do apologize for using such harsh word for the situation. I do believe all the CED are done, is that correct? I agree. It's not the place to be nasty to each other. We are all stressed and anxious. A lot of posts on here seem negative just for the sake of being negative. Let's be supportive. If we make it into this program, playing nice in the sandbox is kind of mandatory, or it will make for a long five years. FWIW, I went back through. I didn't see a single person on this thread who indicated they were actually invited to Dallas, so it's quite possible the Southern District hasn't had theirs yet. It would also explain why one person said the recruiter told them they'd hear about CED by the 17th, rather than the 9th, although I also have no idea what district that person was from. Also, FWIW, as I already indicated, there were only 5 or 6 people in the Central MCBS group during my time slot, not 14-16. I wouldn't really trust what anonymous is saying about the day of your CED. I doubt someone who was part of recruiting for the OCC would be commenting on this and if they're not part of it they really don't know. They wouldn't fly you out and pay for a hotel if they weren't interested. I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but I don't think that just because you were on the 2nd or 3rd day that means it's unlikely you'll be selected. Not that it really matters. The only thing to do now is wait. I want to thank everyone in this thread, it was a great help when preparing for both interviews. Good luck! Just finished my interview few days ago, do people think they did well on the interview? Show More Responses Also I will just wait for the call back result, it might takes a while due to thanksgiving is just around the corner. Does anyone remember the training locations for the Western district? I know there are 4, and I remember what 3 of them were: Des Moines, San Francisco, and Wichita. I can’t remember the fourth one for the life of me. No idea, I only know the location for northeast ones What are the locations for the northeast training? And I'm guessing no one and confirm the thing about day of your CED? I was told training in the NE would be in the central district, in either Columbus, Cincinnati, or Louisville. I am LBS, though, so I don't know if MCBS training for NE is actually in in the NE or not. Hey everyone, we are all going through the same process all feeling the same anticipation to find out if we were selected, if you have negative speculation please keep it to yourself. Until December 4th we all have an equal opportunity to be selected. The person who commented saying the day you interviewed determined the likelihood of your selection spoke inaccurately. I know fellow college alum in the occ who told me the day of your interview has nothing to do with the chances you have of being selected. So let’s please keep this thread positive and not make the anticipation any worse. Thank you! For NE it's possible to train in NYC because one of the tour guide is in the NY field department and he trained in NYC too Also for northeast you might be trained in DC The district recruiter for the NE said during my CED that all training for MCBS will be done at whatever field office you're going to be working out of. For the Northeast specifically I don't know about other districts and large banks could obviously be different. The district recruiter for the NE said during my CED that all training for MCBS will be done at whatever field office you're going to be working out of. For the Northeast specifically I don't know about other districts and large banks could obviously be different. Show More Responses It's not 100% guaranteed to be trained at the field office you applied. Most likely you will be trained at one of the bigger district location for training Anyone get callback yet? Does anyone know how many they will be hiring for Mid-Size in the Northeast as a whole or by field office? They won't tell you how many they are hiring Actually Nyc is hiring 5, according to my interviewer Only 5? That's very little considering they aren't planning to hire again in January The lead recruiter said they try to fill up all their hires for northeast for June right now and not hiring for the next cycle in January unless they can't fill up the positions I think it's pretty tough to tell how many they are hiring. Each training team consists of about 5, so I would assume each field office is hiring about 5 people. I'm not sure how it works for NYC specifically, because they're hiring for Manhattan, Jersey City and Edison, so IDK if that means 5 for each office or 5 for New York as a whole. I believe what they mean by hiring again in January is if a lot of people don't accept offers. Again, I really don't know, just doing my best to speculate. For my session the lead recruiter specifically said that because in the past they have been hiring in October and January so they often have to break up the training session into two and it's much easier for them if they just hire once and train all the new hires together. So for this time they wanted to try to recruit everyone in just one setting and not have to worry about train the new hires again in January unless they can't fill the positions. This is only for the northeast district Good luck everyone! It's started! Show More Responses Started what? The calls? Indeed! I hope everyone gets the position they went for! Which district? What? Really? How do you know? They made the decisions this fast? Wow 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Everybody, stay calm. The process has just started, keep an eye out next week and the following week for calls/emails. Last cycle it was roughly two weeks from first-last offers with some divisions starting several days ahead of others. I hope everyone was able to get the position they were going for! Don't be discouraged either way and reapply the spring round if you don't make this round. I know one guy that was hired in April (June start) was finally accepted on his 4th attempt, so don't be at all discouraged if you are interested you'll be even more prepared. Good luck everyone! Also one more thing, I read on here that they would hire a lot of people then trim it down to the ones they wanted to keep during training. Is this true? Also by looking up reviews by the associate and the assistances on here most of them reflect the same issue with training and first starting out until you made it to UCE. Can anybody confirm if this is true? To the person who stated I was being "Delusional", please do not manifest negativity. It sucks enough that I did not get the second interview and this is my Second time applying. My entire future outlook on my career is desired by becoming an OCC employee. Although not being informed ahead of time and having to reach out to the agency about my status after ALL CEDs have taken place is a bit discouraging to my career goals, but your comment and outlook is a bit disturbing and doesn't help others that have to look forward to other career opportunities. Be mindful, please and take care of yourself. To everyone else, CONGRATULATIONS!! I wish you all the best on your endeavors!! Have a great weekend!! Don't worry about what other people have said here, I know people who are going through this application cycle for the third time and still trying! Just reapply agin next time in January and be prepared! Show More Responses Most definitely!! Will do!!! Hopefully, the 3rd time is the charm!!! Thank you!! Good Luck!! Best of luck to you too! :) Anyone hear anything yet, Also should we be worrying about the training part like what majority of the reviews said here on Glassdoor? Majority? I only saw a couple. I'm definitely not sweating the petulant words of a few disgruntled employees. Training will be what you make of it. Thank you! I really wanted to stay with occ if I made it Anyone received anything yet? Acceptance or rejections? Nothing for me yet. I doubt anything will go out on the weekend My recruiter gave me my itinerary for CED and answered a bunch of questions at 7:30pm two Saturdays ago. So never say never, but I haven't heard anything, either. Doesn't seem like anyone has, except one person who I personally think was making an obvious attempt to troll. Show More Responses Ok thank god. I was wondering why the offer calls would go out on Friday night, nearly got myself a heart attack Do people think they did well on the interview? I heard once you made it to the last interview their decision on giving you an offer or not solely depends on how you performed for the interview. Yeah, I definitely wasn't trolling but like I said before, good luck everyone and I hope everyone gets the spot they were going for! Literally only a couple of offers get sent on Friday, the majority will be starting in the morning. There should have been at least one ambassador that was a Friday hire at your CED. But yet again, that doesn't mean anything to be worried about. 99% of offers start the following week. Nice! But I'm surprised some people got their offer on Friday I'm just excited I got one! Lol. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces from CED again at orientation! I'm also not the person who was being negative to other people previously, in case anyone didn't know. I'm looking forward to more of you guys getting your offers as well! It's a very exciting time! Congrats! Do you mind sharing what office you applied to? I don't want to say anything yet publicly even anon, until other people start getting their offers. I'm sure you can understand. No. No one understands. Which is why people think you're trolling. 🤷 Background checks take at least a week and they need that before making an offer. When did you interview? Show More Responses Don't think anybody got their offer yet, the guy is definitely a troll Also according to the thread with 700+ comments, most offers should be given out this week. So if people didn't get their offer this week chances are slim to get the job have anyone gotten an offer call yet? Or a rejection email at this point? I can confirm that calls have started to go out for the Northeast... Hello, everyone, as we are all calmly waiting for the offer calls, if you could use the following format when you hear anything from OCC, I would greatly appreciate it! *Update: Offer Call! Name: (please make up something so we can distinguish) Time: (rough time would be enough) District: Category: (MCSB/LBS) Other comment: (If you can kindly provide any additional information, that will be great!!) Please do not imply or say you hear or know someone got the call, only update when YOU got the call. Please don’t just come here to stir anxiety among legitimate applicants, find a good movie to watch instead, the Blade Runner 2049 is on, I highly recommend it. Thanks. I agree. If you're not prepared to actually say that you got an offer don't comment something cryptic that maybe you did/maybe you didn't. That's fast Yes I was surprised...I interviewed in Chicago on 11/14 It's weird considering the background and credit check takes a while to go through and also the fact that during last cycle people waited much longer to hear back Congratulations!! And thanks so much for updating us! Congratulations and what is your location of the central MCBS? I have my fingers and toes crossed for you, Aurther! To the other offeree: in addition to your field office, where is your training? My office is in Milwaukee and that is where the training is also. I think it is safe to call it a day now, congratulations to the fellow glassdoorer who scored big today!! For the rest of us, good luck to you all tomorrow! Anyone from the western district? Is there only one offer from Central so far? Show More Responses I'm worried I won't get an offer because I still didn't get a call yet. Did anyone found out if they have their credit pulled? What about the USA job job status???? To the people who gotten an offer, which day did you have your CED on? Was it the first day? To the people that got offers is your start date January or June? Hey everyone. I received an offer for the western district earlier today. I am here to clarify the misconception regarding Which day you had your CED. I was a day 3 CED candidate so I genuinely don’t believe the day you went has anything to do with your eligibility. Good luck, I hope you all get selected ! My CED was on the 15th (day 2}. June start. I haven't gotten an alert from Capital One yet that my credit was pulled, and my job status is still "Reviewed" on USAJobs with a last updated date in September. Day 1 of CED, no credit alert[I think they just do a soft pull that wouldn't show up though) , no change on USAJobs. What's the field office you will be working in for these of you who gotten an offer? I'm worried that the competitive ones will be a lot harder to get in Hi, Dx, congratulations! Hey all, Those of you who receive offers, could you also post what your credentials were going into the final interview and what you think gave you the upper hand? It's be really helpful to those of us who plan on reapplying next round! They said in CED that the NE region do not plan to hire again next time unless there are positions need to be filled Think all the offers are out at this moment, thinking about reapply again next time I have a feeling more offers will be going out tomorrow. Don't update with guesses, just update if you actually got an offer or not. None of us really know. The last person who posted about getting an offer last year got the offer on November 30th. CED was over roughly the same days this year, and the end of the month is over a week away. I'm just speculating, but I highly doubt all the offers are out. Though I'm sure that someone will ask again in 3 posts. 😆 **Summary: Offer Call! Again, congratulations to everyone who got the order already and for the rest of us, keep an eye on your cell phone, got another day before holiday, don't we? :) BTW, if anyone got a offer call from San Francisco, please kindly let me know. I checked my credit report, I know, I know, I don't have soft pull from OCC yet. I'm worried guy....... I really really really wanted to work for the occ..... I'm scared what if I don't get the offer It’s allright, I’ve known of people who applied 3 times and got in on the 4th try ... just keep on trying... To the person asking about San Francisco - I received an offer for SF on Friday, November 17 around 4pm. My training is also in SF. :) We were told on CED (held 11/14) that the offers would start on 11/20, and they should wrap them up by 12/4. There is still hope! Has anyone gotten an offer for St. Louis? How many people do they recruit to each field office? And how long do they give the offerees to decide on the offers? I'm not certain on the number of people that are recruited for each office but I was given 48 hours to accept/decline the offer. Thanks and Congrats. Show More Responses It is safe to say that as of right now all the offers are been given out and we should just reapply next time? 😂 9 posts later. No one knows. No one can answer that for you. Based on the trends from prior years, NO. Ok thank you! I wish i can get the job! Hi, elbie, I was the person who asked the question about SF, thanks a lot for updating us and congratulations on your offer! Thanks, Aurther! I hope you hear something soon! **Summary (LAST): Offer Call! I am taking my focus off this forum and this application in particular now. For the past 1 month, especially the last 2 weeks, I have spent most of my time and energy on this application and I want to switch gears and spend more time with my family, gym buddies and my studies. It's been a great experience and thank you all so much for all your support, sharing your experience and comments with us, I greatly appreciate it! Congratulations again to all the ones who have received the job offers and best wishes to the ones who are waiting. Happy Holidays Everyone!! Hello everyone, I think it's safe to say that if we didn't get a call by the end of today, chances are very slim we would have an offer for the position considering tomorrow is thanksgiving and flex Friday afterwards. So it's either today or maybe the next Monday for calls to going out, and that's it Yep... I know previous cycles offers went out later, but i am losing faith as wel. Guess better luck applying next round. Yep... I know previous cycles offers went out later, but i am losing faith as well. Guess better luck applying next round. For what it’s worth I’d say never give up. This is my third time applying for the OCC and I finally received an offer. Yes I was upset and kind of discouraged the first two times but I redirected that energy into performing better the next recruitment cycle. First time around I failed the knowledge assessment, 2nd time I passed knowledge failed the WCST, 3rd time I passed both portions and the interviews.. If this is really what you want keep working for it , eventually you will get it! Show More Responses I'm thinking about applying for an undesirable place to start working as oppose somewhere lets say NYC because how competitive it is to get an offer Hey Dx, how did you prepare yourself for the interview? I think I didn't get an offer because I didn't do so well during my interview. Also is the field office you applied a competitive location where a lot of people were trying to get in? Thank you I just spoke to my recruiter. He stated that offers will still be going out over the next week or so. Take it for what it's worth. Hello there, may I ask what district is the recruiter you spoke with? Thank you I got nothing!! Not even a rejection e-mail. I had to call to ask about my status. Of well..good luck to those who actually made it to the end with an offer. Enjoy your new found employment!! Sry Lea. Best of luck, hopefully this was at least a positive learning experience. Southern district Oh thank you..... do people think offers for other regions are all finished I want to believe offers will still go out for other districts next week. It’s hard to believe so many of us didn’t get offers, but I’ve also somewhat lost faith. From what o recall there were 49 that made it to the CED and they were hiring I believe 15-20 if I remember correctly. These are southern district numbers. Show More Responses From those with experience, is it easier or more difficult to get hired for a June start from the April hiring, or is it really just luck? To me it felt like the offers are done, it's just hard to believe how so many of us didn't get anything Also the fact that occ tends to over hire and then trim down people from training teams. More than half of the people don't make it through ^^ is that a fact?? No. Sadly it is. Even my phone interview told me the fact that passing the interviews is not enough to keep the job. The train period consists of 6-7 months followed by 5-6 months of probation period. If your monthly evaluation period is ever came back below a satisfactory grade, you will be removed from the position. If you do not believe me you can look up the reviews on Glassdoor and see how many "helpful" upvote some of the reviews received when they talk about how much people get trimmed out by the training and probation period. I got a notification the OCC pulled my credit but I haven't receeived an offer. Does anybody think that's a good sign that offers still may be going out or do you think they just do it for everyone? The reviews don’t say that regarding training and probation is 12 months from when you start Training teams do not have 50+ percent attrition rates. Most people make it off training team and make it off probation. There are a few who simply aren't cut out for the job, but that's the exception. That person will have warning and be given an opportunity to improve. Keep in mind that people are a lot more inclined to come and write a review if they had a very negative experience. So you're likely to read about a lot of those negative experiences here, and it isn't necessarily an accurate representation of the number of people that don't make the cut. Show More Responses Then what is the more accurate rate of attrition that you know of? I prepared myself for the interview honestly by doing my own outside research on the OCC and remembering the questions they asked me on the phone interview and coming up with new examples to similar questions. I researched the OCC's history and their mission/purpose, reiterating it in the interview. Aside from that just being calm and confident in what i could bring to the table, you know? You are your own greatest asset in this life, when you truly believe that people will see it. Just have faith in yourself and your abilities! Also, I applied for the LA field office, I hope this helps! & I hope you all get offers this coming week, best of luck to everyone! I wonder if they’re done making offers in the Northeast I think they are done making the initial offers. I’m sure a few people will turn down offers which will open up spots this week. Yeah offers are done almost 100% just reapply next time I guess At this time it's safe to say that the offers are done giving out Also hard to believe so little people on here got offers. Maybe they aren't hiring that many people afterall I wonder why they don't hire more people when the agency is understaffed and there are people who jus sit around all day and don't do anything Again it's not safe to assume anything. That being said use some quick logic. Offers were starting on Monday of last week. The week ended for most federal and state employees on Wednesday (most also took a half day that day as well) ^^^^What they said. Impossible to know if they're done giving out offers yet. My guess is that they'll finish giving them out this week but we'll see. Show More Responses Hey, everyone! So I was one of the unfortunate recruits who was denied during the phone interview stage (I interviewed while being extremely sick). I'm checking in after over a month of being absent from this forum. I'd like to start off by saying congratulations to all that have received an offer! While reading through the comments, however, I noticed that someone mentioned that the Northeast District isn't really looking to hire January recruits. That sucks, as I REALLY wanted to work out of the Philadelphia field office my first time around. Now that I'm preparing to start the process over again in January, that statement now has me rethinking my initial plans. Did anyone successfully make it (at least an interview) to a district outside of the district that they reside in? If the Northeast District isn't looking to hire anyone, then I wouldn't mind applying to either Central (Chicago-Downers Grove) or Western (San Francisco). The lead northeast recruiter said specifically that the northeast isn't trying to hire in January unless they can't fill the positions. Also SF is very competitive to get in plus the rent is very high, maybe Chicago is easier but I'm not sure It looks to me they prefer local candidate/s; seems the few who received offers are living in the same cities where the field offices located. They interviewed so many people during the CED but hired so few. I do not live near where my offer came from FYI You must be a super strong candidate among those they interviewed for that office then. Or the office is in a undesirable location that anyone who applies will get in To me the OCC HR likes to do industry hires with people who's been working for 1-2 years. Do they not consider OCC' turnover rates? It makes more sense to do less industry hiring when the candidate is clearly leaving a company behind after the firm's initial investment and training in them and look for something else, just like how they came to interview with the occ and leaving their old company behind. Do OCC not see the fact they will do just the same in a few years and go somewhere else? Leaving the same place understaffed and lose of investment in candidates Appreciate the kind words. I prepared a bit for the interview but once I got in there it all went out the window. The sad truth is the OCC isn't hiring that many people for their entry level positions due to the fact that there are people who doesn't do any work in the government and still gets paid like everyone else knowing that they will never get fired. The latest company review on OCC clearly stated that there are people who comes in and just stare at their computer screen all day/sits around do nothing meanwhile there are so many of us who eagerly wanted to be part of OCC and willing to do the hard works. It's just how government works and nobody can do anything about it. Show More Responses ^welcome to adulthood. I wouldn’t focus energy on things you can’t control, if the OCC is your dream job, figure out what they want and make sure you have it before you apply again. Best of luck! Thank you Did anyone ever see their status change? I think I’ve officially lost hope. Made it all the way to CED, and thought St. Louis and Indianapolis wouldn’t be among the most desirable locations, guess I was wrong. Are they gonna send rejection email at all? Yes. I think they will be sent the same time offer letters are sent, which is next month. The office I’m going to is large and a few states away. For those applying in the future, I don’t think you should be swayed by the location in reference to where you currently live. How about share some of your credentials with us so we can have some clue? Years of related experience? Super charming character? Connections? Luck? It doesn’t sound like a good advice to others to apply for somewhere far far away in general. Also keep in mind that an unpopular location might also have a smaller incoming number of new hires It is safe to say all the offers are made at this point and we should just reapply next time? Sorry if you took what I wrote as advise, it was just my experience. This might be hard to believe, but I think they just thought I was a good fit for the position. Maybe I scored well on the test. Maybe they liked my interview answers, I wouldn’t know and won’t drive myself crazy trying to speculate. Best of luck to you though! Show More Responses Advice* No one want you to guess anything, just want to know what kind of qualifications you have so others can compare and gauge themselves. And the main point is that your experience doesn’t reject the local candidate advantage at all. Stop being so harsh to him. He doesn't have to tell you anything, the fact that he is willing to help you and explained what he thought was the reason made him get the offer is already fair enough. Maybe it's your attitude that made the OCC rejected you for the position For people who are applying again next time are you going to apply for the June start date or the January start date? For the poster asking for advice, I think a major key is attitude showing confidence but not arrogance. That you are willing to learn and are able to articulate yourself clearly and concisely. I have an accounting degree and worked an internship so I talked a bit about how my intern assignments helped me to developed transferable skills. And outlined those skills and how they relate. Also make sure you seem team oriented as almost all your work will be in a team. That’s the best I can offer you ask questions that are indicative of longevity with the agency. Hope this helps whoever applies next round. Also make sure ur responses to the behavioral questions hit all points as they use a star interview approach (you can google that) If you reapply again can you even apply for January start date? I would assume when the next cycle starts it would pass the January time Should we all just assume that it's the end of it? Reapply next time? Just waiting for my rejection email now.. Yeah..... it's sad to see only so few of us made it through the interview. I wonder did they hire less people for this time or what I wonder why they took in so many people to the CED if they knew they are hiring fewer; too much of waste for both sides. Show More Responses I think next cycle will be even tougher, as the trend of tightening government agencies continues. anyone contact their HR Rep? Yeah I think it's only going to get worse and worse from now on if we don't get in on this cycle Some may want to try starting at the state level as an examiner. Would give you transferable skills for the federal level Next cycle begins in February, the earliest starting time will be June. Anyone got Cleveland field office? Could you please share when did you receive your offer? Thanks. Losing hope at this point. It felt like occ have a definite need in mind and just called in so many people for last round to get only a selective few I haven’t heard anyone got Cleveland or Cincinnati either. Anyone contacted the head recruiter yet? Listen - do not give up hope! they have probably made the first round of offers, but that doesn't mean that everyone who applied will accept. Hang in there. I know it is hard to be optimistic at this point, but the process is not officially closed yet. Show More Responses Thank you. I really appreciate and needed these positive support Quick question, if they wanted to contact you for an offer, does the lead recruiter calls you directly or it's someone from the HR? In my case, the recruiter called me directly first. Then I received an email with all of the details. Thank you Offers are still being extended, at least in Central. I've just accepted one for Cleveland. Received offer by phone yesterday and accepted today. I didn't ask what part of the hiring process they are in, but I'm fairly sure they still have a few more to go at this point. You are given 48 hours to accept or decline. Congrats Feels so good that one more of us got an offer, even though I still didn't get anything 😭 I'm curious, if you missed the offer call do they leave a message for you to call back? i missed the offer call but received a follow up email . Show More Responses Congrats r403, hopefully more central offers are coming, but I’m not holding out much hope For those that got their offers, do you have a start date yet? did anyone else get an offer from western district? so to reiterate: lets ignore 22,23,24 since most people will take off or leave early. 20,21: offers have been extended to almost all districts minus the north east 27,28,29: offers have only been extended to central, nothing at all for west or south is this correct? Only one offer was extended this week, maybe just an atypical situation. thanks ggwpnore everyone Has anyone heard from the Indy or Louisville office ? Keep in mind that there are people who applied and perhaps received offers that aren't posting in this thread. Take everything you read here with a grain of salt. It's not over until it's over (if you receive the rejection letter) Until then, keep pushing on and stay positive! For those who made it to CED more than once and finally got an offer what did you do different the second or third time? I would email my recruiter but he probably wouldn’t give outright rejections because they stated until the 8th or something Show More Responses My recruiter told me that central is done with their offers How recently were told that about the central being done with offers, and were you told via phone or email? Thank you in advance. I emailed my recruiter yesterday and he called me today Offers are done last week, before holiday; the one received offer this week was a rare case that someone either declined or didn’t pass background/credit check, he happened to be the first on the waiting list. With him accepting offer yesterday, there is nothing left. It's hard to believe so many people didn't get anything Given the lengthy process I'm not sure if I will go through it again knowing OCC will again invite way more people for last round of interview and only give out so few spots for offer I’m going to email my recruiter and just get the rejection over with. Hopefully he will have some tips for next round. I’m going to apply to even smaller cities and hope that works out.. That's rough to hear it.... keep on applying and keep us updated :) I emailed my recruiter (central) and he called back I missed the call and now he is out of the office. If it is a rejection I wish they would have just emailed me instead of waiting until Monday to find out. I guess I still have some hope but not much. My recruiter said that offers are done for central; I called yesterday. Show More Responses Yeah that’s what I figured . I just don’t know why he would have me call instead of just emailing me like I did first. Did they say anything else about your status going forward? Well i just got my rejection email so it looks like those will start officially going out. Just got my rejection email! Honestly don't think I'm going to apply again. Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Best of luck in your future search Given how the process turned out for most of us I don't think majority of the people would reapply again. What is everyone's rejection email looks like? As far as I know there are two types of rejection email, one saying you were not recommended for the position and other one saying the process is very competitive and you were not selected for a position. The second one meaning you were among the recommended ones but not high enough on the list to make it meanwhile the first one just straight out rejected you A rejection letter is still a rejection letter at the end of the days, but mine states.... Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Our hiring process is extremely competitive and we regret to inform you that you were not selected for our entry-level bank examiner position. If you are interested in reapplying to this position during future cycles, you must submit a new application and any required documents during the next open period. You will be required to re-take all of the requisite Assistant National Bank Examiner tests (knowledge test and written communication skills test). Your interest in the OCC is truly appreciated and we wish you much success in future employment endeavors. Sincerely, ANBE Recruitment but in regards to the post above, I do plan to apply and take my chances again for a June start date. I do not graduate until May anyways, just sucks that the next CED if i make it will be in the heart of busy season This is mine, do you see the difference: Thank you for your interest in employment with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Your interest in the OCC is truly appreciated and we wish you success in your future employment endeavors. Sincerely, ANBE Recruitment For mine reply, it shows I'm not even recommended Show More Responses What regions was your? Mine was central Could vary by region. I do not think one has more or less meaning than the other. I'm NE and I got the "Our hiring process is extremely competitive and we regret to inform you that you were not selected for our entry-level bank examiner position" email. Applied earlier this year and got that as well Yeah who knows For who those who have gone through the process multiple times did you apply for different cities the 2nd or 3rd time? Don't think people will keep coming back to here now since everything is over I received my offer from Western!! My location will be with the Honolulu field office Lol there is no Honolulu field office. Seattle and SF split those examinations. Nice try though. Lol there is no Honolulu field office. Seattle and SF split those examinations. Nice try though. Show More Responses I applied and got to CED, but I got my rejection email on Friday Dec 1. I wish the email didn't say that "based on your decision interview, you were not recommended" though. I mean, that's pretty obvious, but it's also really discouraging because it sounds like "Hey, you did well in every step, but boy did you really screw up that interview" to me. I'll be honest though. I really want this position, so I might reapply at some point...but I really don't want to. Every step in the process was a constant spike in anxiety for me, and the whole business of flying out to Chicago was a continual source of stress. Did anyone get their refunds for expenses yet? I feel like it’s taking forever. It's the government what do you expect The refunds takes around 3 months so if you need the money right away don’t expect it! I learned that from the other feed of over 700 comments-sorry dear! Merry Christmas everyone Has anyone received their offer letter yet? If it’s for NE June start, they said this month, not sure what date. Yes it is, that’s what I thought as well. Thanks! Did everyone have happy holidays? Has anyone heard back with acceptance letters or anything else? Show More Responses Still waiting... Northeast. Yep, NE here...still waiting. I thought waiting for the phone call was nerve-racking... I think it’s fine, we have time as the start date isn’t until June. As long as we got the phone call, we’re good! Any word yet? So is this feed over ? No has posted an update in a while! Has anyone heard from OCC on acceptances letters or training? Also have you received reimbursement from interviews? One or more comments have been removed. |
If given four projects of equal importance with the same due date, what would you do. Be specific 253 AnswersSo this interview was for the job announcement posted 2/8/16? Yes, this was for the Patent Examiner (Mechanical) posted 2/8/16 and closing on 5/1/16. The first cutoff for consideration was 3/13/16. At a career open house at the USPTO in Alexandria I was told all the applications received by the 3/16 date but not selected for interviews would remain in the queue for consideration in subsequent rounds of interviews. Keep us updated when you recieve a decision. Show More Responses Ok, I was referred to a selecting official on march 31 but I never received an offer for an interview. I assume that means I was passed over this round since you already interviewed. I applied 2/11/16 and had a phone interview April 15th 2016. Anyone know when I will hear back? this is for the alexandria location and biomedical position I was also referred to a selecting official on April 1, but I never received an offer for an interview. I am not sure if that means we were not selected? To give a vague answer to Jon's question, the SPE that interviewed me told me the interview questions and their interview notes go into a database the other SPEs can select candidates from. It could be a few weeks to a few months before you hear anything further. At the career fair last month a HR rep told me there will be new-hire orientation groups in June, July and August. That might give you some indication how long the offer, paperwork verification, etc. will take. they are making selections this week. I would give it another 1-2 weeks before you hear back from HR for this round. what are some of your backgrounds and education? I have a ME degree, with 3.5gpa and also a few years of industry experience(although, that doesn't matter much since pretty much everyone starts at GS 7/9). I applied 02/11/16 and had a phone interview April 11th, 2016 for Chemical position (Alexandria). yea i interviewed on the 4-13-2016 for the electrical engineer position. we'll probably be updated either next week or the week after since they'll be interviewing the next round of candidates soon. Does anyone know if design examiners been interviewed? Regarding the Design Examiner interviews. I received an email on April 1st with a status change of "referred to the selecting official for further consideration", but I have not received any further communication. Has anybody heard how many Design Patent Examiners they are hiring. I received the same email and also was never contacted for an interview. I'm wondering if interviews are being extended just as the deadline was. I was told they are hiring 30 design examiners, 15 in Alexandria and 15 in San Jose. Show More Responses I checked with the HR person and was told that they will send out email in 2-4 weeks for the positon of patent examiner at Alexander site they seem to be dragging it out i guess- selections have been made already last week. probably because the next class(training) doesn't start until June supervisors make the selections though and pass on a list to HR. they then go out and contact selectees. I was told by someone inside that they were making selections last week. it usually takes 8 weeks. So I'm assuming we will find out in 2-3 weeks. it can't be 8 weeks if they have training starting in june so in like a week or 2 we will hear about it? is that for every discipline or just select ones? has anyone heard how many Biomedical Examiners they are looking to take? No I meant 8 weeks from cut off. They usually have the same starting dates for all disciplines. so the 8th week would be next week. so hopefully we find out next week. so basically i was told that the interview is a formality to see you don't raise any red flag. all of our response were rated 1-5 and you just needed minimum 3 so we should hear back by May 13th? that's what I was thinking anyway and hopefully we all at least get a 3! Show More Responses Good luck everyone! This thread has been great while we wait for the interview results. Please keep posting if there is something new. I will post a reply when I hear back from them. Supervisor told me 2-4 weeks from the interview date. My interview was on Aptil 14th and he told me it was the last day of the interviews for the March 13 cut off date. And I'm only talking about Electrical patent examiner position. So yeah looks like we are going to hear back by May 13th max. Agreed, the thread has been very helpful. While there is some confusion about dates and electrical/mechanical/bio-medical positions, it looks like mid-May is the likely time for offers or status change. Post when you hear something about utility examiner offers or design interviews/offers. just some more info while we all wait(i know this process is painful- ive been through it a few times without good luck, unfortunately) June 13th is the tentative start date for ALL examiners for this round of hiring so that should tell you a lot. i just heard this today and apparently the Supervisors are apparently suppose to turn in their lists by tomorrow so calls/emails obviously follow after that is done. We might hear something later since the start date would be further down the road. i'll keep updating if i find out more or hear back from them. btw, the chemicals and computers i think hear back first and the electrical and mechanicals may hear back later as their interviews were conducted in that order. @xyz before this how far did you get in the process so I understand the chances of getting the position post interview. I've always made it past "referred to selecting official " and then an interview . However, you r interview is valid for 1 calender year- so I wasn't interviewed for this round as I had one last year in April. It's really easy to get past all this right before a selection because all they look for is GPA>3 and egr/technical degree. The problem is their interview process is pretty lame as in the person who interviews you in most cases don't even hire you or have any openings in their art unit. They just rate you and pass along info to a common "database " if you will. Then, folks who are actually hiring pick up your application if you are lucky -kind of like a lottery I'm my experience lol But , I will tell you this- if you have a EE background then your chances are usually better as the demand is usually higher. hope this helps. Good luck. "Eligible must meet education requirement" does anyone know what it means? I already had the interview and the application status says that RE: "Eligible must meet education requirement" Did you graduate yet? The position description included a provision to apply before your degree was complete so a conditional offer could be pending your final transcript. What position were you interviewed for? EE? ME? Thsnks. So does it mean i was selected or it's just a reminder that i have to graduate to be considered anyways. And yeah I haven't graduate yet. I will be graduating in May. I was interviewed for EE and Computer Engineering both. Show More Responses Great thread guys, I don't have anything to add besides being another person waiting to hear back for this round. I applied for BME and CHE and had the interview 4/13 even tho I've gone through application and everything my status remains unchanged. is that the case for anyone else? Yes the status hasn't changed for me either Mine hasn't change either I interviewed for the EE position on April 14 and am still waiting to hear back as well. Has anyone applied after the first cutoff (3/13/2016) and heard anything? I applied this April 20 and have not heard anything. Also does it matter that i changed my application (today) before the cutoff date? Does that make a difference? I interviewed for an EE position on April 13 and am still waiting to hear back. The interviewer told me it would take 2-6 weeks for a decision. I don't think people that applied after the cutoff will hear back until people that already interviewed hear back because they'll probably get interviews and stuff based on if the position has been filled or not. if people that got interviews already filled all the positions they probs won't get anything this round. sorry. maybe they may interview you and keep your application open for next years opening Well this year the EE might not be the most eligible . The number of patent applications in electrical keep decreasing. Show More Responses From a variety of sources (but not directly from HR): They are hiring 200 examiners, the priority is to fill the satellite offices first. EEs are still in high demand. This last round of interviews was 65 candidates (maybe more). So it is possible that many applicants who have not had interviews or received a "referred to a hiring official" status change may still be potential hires. That makes a bit of sense given that there are 3 sets of start dates (June, July, August). So, if understand this correctly, the first set of interviews that went out were probably for the June start date. And the second closing date of next week will be for candidates that made the first and second closing date (all candidates that were not interviewed). Has anyone had any status change? Had an interview April 14 and still waiting.. Reading this thread has been very useful :) no status change yet Spoke to HR today and they said that I should hear back in a week or so. I applied in February, so before the first cutoff date and had my interview 4/15/16. I applied for the BME position So I'm guessing next week is the big week I was told they have the lists back from supervisors- going through internal checking to finalize. I would advise anyone reading this to follow up with their respective HR specialists from the vacancy and ask status.( probably in the afternoon) reporting back here would be appreciated by everyone too so please continue this great thread. I contacted my HR specialist today for the chemical engineer position in Alexandria, VA. She said we should hear back tomorrow just called HR. she told me told me everyone will know their status by next week. I guess that means offers are going out this week I'm the candidate who posted the question that started this thread. All went well (I think) with my interview and I also have a solid resume, but I just received an email let me know I was "not selected" for the mechanical patent examiner positions. Best wishes to all who are still waiting. Show More Responses So i'm guessing they're sending out emails this week. based on major/department. just got a referred not selected email for ME=( hope you guys have better luck=) what does referred not selected mean? apparently I got selected for GS7 and not 9(the one I got an email earlier). They will make calls later on in the week. referred, not selected means you were referred to the selecting official(interview stage) but were not selected for the position. good luck hey xyz, how did you know you were selected? was it thru USAJOBS? Anyone heard back about EE or CE or has it just been ME for now? i know a chemical that heard back and was selected I received a referred not selected for the ME position email today as well. Good luck to everyone else. This is the second time I have applied and gotten the same result. I had a 3.26 GPA in ME and now have 2 years of government engineering experience. I am not sure what I can do to make myself more attractive to the office. I called and then also got an email. I got another offer so asked for an expedited response but think they let everyone know today for ME anyway. This is probably my 6th or 7 th time applying before I got selectedlol. It's not how good you are or how strong your background or experience is. I consider my credentials pretty solid(I posted them earlier) but luck plays a huge role with their ridiculous selection process(also posted earlier) BUT it helps to network and know people. I've networked with many people, some supervisors over the past year or so. A few friends of mine work there but networking with supervisors really help. They have yearly recruitment info sessions and visit college career fairs every semester.I would suggest going to them and connecting with them if you really want to get in. I'll monitor this thread for a while- if you guys have specific qs on the selection process, I'll try and help answering them. Don't be discouraged be though- they regularly hire people. Sticking to it, learning the ins and outs of the process, and, talking and networking with people is an experience worth having in its own right. Show More Responses Thanks Xyz, you really encouraged me since i'm hesitate to go to my Fridays interview, because it's my second time applying ... Did you encountered the same supervisor who interviewed you from last few times? LJ, are you talking about design examiner interviews? If you have gone through the design examiner interview process, can you please shed some light on how many they interview compared to how many they hire? Also, are they done on campus only? Glad to be of help. There shouldn't be any interviews scheduled yet as one round just finished. Although, that's for patent examiner positions which are phone/webex interviews only. Design patent examiner interviews are probably different. For me, I was interviewed last year on the phone with a preset list of behavioral qs outlined in the reviews. Pretty easy. In person might be different. I can tell you from the other job offer I got- almost all federal job interviews(in person) are panel type with folks going round the table asking from a preset list of qs. If it's in person, I'd guess they are similar. Look up the other interview reviews on here and filter to design examiner. Good luck Hey yall, I just got an email stating I was selected for the Biomedical Engineer Patent Examiner. Is this the only interview they do or should I expect another interview? abc, that means you're hired and they'll send an offer letter soon. did you get the email tonight? for those selected, when is the first day? I did get an email tonight and it just said basically said I was selected and will be contacted by someone from hr within the next day I wish i knew the order they were getting back to people. for those that got emails already when was your interview time and date I wish i knew the order they were getting back to people. for those that got emails already when was your interview time and date I interviewed April 14th 2016 And was selected for the job MAy2nd 2016 Show More Responses I interviewed april 13 and havnt heard back yet What position were you interviewed for? i also interviewed on the 13th and havent heard back. ee examiner I interviewed for a ChemE position I interviewed on April 13 for EE. I haven't hear back yet either Just wondering for those who have heard back what's the first letter of your last name? I interviewed for a ChemE position on April 13th, my last name begins with "R" and haven't heard back. Wondering if response is alphabetically based considering it doesn't seem to be linked to offer/no offer, EE/ME/ChemE, date of interview. I interviewed on April 13 for EE. I haven't heard back yet either; thinking of reaching out to the respectable HR on the job position to get status I also interviewed for ChemE position on April 13th. My last name begins with "R" haven't heard back either. I talked to HR person for ChemE position yesterday and seems like the offers haven't been sent out yet. She said we will be notified this week, but didn't specify exactly when the offers will be out. I also interviewed for ChemE position on April 14, no word yet Show More Responses Pls. update here, if you receive any email for ChemE. I believe the HR specialist for chemE is out on training today. so we might not hear back today I applied for the position (Mechanical, Chemical, and Biomed). I interviewed on April 13. Yesterday, I received an email stating that I was referred but not selected for Mechanical. Then, later in the day, I got an email from the HR person who handles Chemical. The odd thing is that her email asked me to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment by May 5. What does this mean? I have not been contacted about a status update nor a job offer. Any insight? PS: My last name begins with "N". I think that could be part of the process of making an offer? I would call the HR person who emailed you and ask what that means to clarify. Please update here when you have any further information. I interviewed on 4/13 for a BME position and received notification on 5/2 that I was selected. In a follow up email for the Declaration of Federal Employment form, they indicated a tentative start date of 6/13. Hope this info is helpful for those still waiting - good luck! Great informational thread, thanks to those involve! Interviewed for BME on 4/13 late in the day. Still haven't heard back but am feeling hopeful. Have BS in biomedical engineering, concentration in EE and MS degree in Engineering. Just wondering if those who applied and received offers have similar background. I want this job because job searching makes me die a little bit every day on the inside. Anyways, best of luck to all those waiting to hear back. <3 I interviewed on April 13th, for the ChemE position. I have not heard anything back yet, I have applied before, and usually the office follows the timeline outlined on their website exactly. So i figure if you hear back this week then you are hired, otherwise at the end of week ten(according to the cut off date of your listing) a automated email is sent out, saying you were referred but not selected. good luck Also interviewed 4/13 applied for BME and ChemE since i have my BS in BME and MS in ChemE but i still have not heard back. so i am hopeful sometime soon. hopefully tomorrow Anyone hear back on EE roles? I interviewed on April 14 I haven't heard anything on my EE application yet. I interviewed on April 13th. Show More Responses Int Interviewed for EE and CP. April 14th. Didn't hear back yet. As people said in this thread we should hear back by this Friday. Good luck everyone I applied for EE position and just received notification that I have been selected. Last name starts with "C" and interviewed on April 13th. It seems that the selections for EE and Comp Science will begin to be sent today. It may take until Friday for HR to finish sending all decisions to the applicants. Best of luck to everyone and very grateful to all who have contributed to this posting. I am one of the few design examiner applicants and I haven't heard anything. I'm assuming we're on the same time line as the engineers. Are there any other design applicants watching this thread who may have more information? Regarding Design Examiners - I was contacted late last week to schedule an on-site (Alexandria) interview this week. I was told the "selected" notices would go out by the end of May with a start date (if selected) of June 27. Do they only do on-site interviews for design examiners, or phone interviews too? Also, do you know how many interviews they are having? Re: Design Examiners. They are interviewing on-site in Alexandria over the next two weeks (not sure about San Jose). The interview includes a visual aptitude test, so on-site is the only way to accomplish that. Short test and then a panel interview with three SPEs and concluding with a campus tour with an examiner. Has anyone else gotten yes/no since may 2? still waiting for a decision and i haven't been able to reach HR Haven't heard anything at all. Show More Responses AHC, the first made a comment on today May/4, said he received a job offer today, and his last name starts with "C". I'm waiting on chemical and biomedical Waiting to hear about EE, interviewed on the 14th. No status change yet. I applied for EE, and was interviewed on April/13 I'm biomedical and I heard yesterday and spoke to HR Any ChemE heard back? bme and still waiting to hear! last name L I'm ChemE and haven't heard anything EE and CP. Last name with "S". Interview date April 14th. Haven't heard anything. Show More Responses I posted on May 2; ChemE last name N; still no word. I spoke to HR yesterday and they all seem to be quite flustered. I think that their strategy of having the posting open for three months and having the cut-off of 03/13 has backfired. I applied for both GS levels and only received one email. The offer letter finally explained the GS level that I was hired. So, quite different experience from XYC a couple of days ago. I would not be surprised if they do not get to all candidates this week. However, since week nine begins next week for those who submitted the application by 03/13, I strongly advise you to call your HR contact next week and ask for the decision. The delay does not necessarily mean that you will not get the job, just that they have their hands too full. I interviewed April 13, 2016 and received an email on May 2, 2016 that I was referred but not selected. Applied for ME. I called and they said we should hear back by tomorow Which department's HR did you talk to? Chemical department has anybody been able to get in contact with the EE HR? 3 days now and I haven't been able to reach her. AHC who did you speak to? I haven't been able to get a hold of the EE HR rep either :/ FYI guys- I applied for both ME and EE. got selected for ME and haven't heard back for EE. It has been my experience from the past that they typically contact the selected people first and then the non-selected ones. If you are waiting to hear back for any discipline- I'm pretty confident you should do so by tomorrow. If you don't, you can assume you were not selected for this round BUT they should be starting again for the next round. remember, there are classes(patent academy training-4months) starting in June, July, and August. At xyz so are you saying they've already picked all the selected people and they already emailed them earlier this week? Show More Responses Will they select people from this interview round for the next classes or will they go through the whole process of interviewing again? Thanks for bringing everyone's hopes up xyz :/ Do they respond to emails or just phone calls? So i have heard through a friend at the office, that offers have gone out for all disciplines. HR keeps it open ended just in case some people reject the offer, which happens more then you think apparently, in which case the supervisor can select another from the list. I would still keep hope through 2morrow, but if you are still waiting by next week, unless someone rejects their offer your chances are slim. The part that sucks is that HR will keep it open ended till the end of the 10th week sometimes, to send you the rejection. Sry to be a downer but that is what i was told, so i figured i would pass along. Good Luck to all xyz is right. it's common practice for the office to send the rejection emails a week or two after the've made selections. it is also common that they hire folks they have already rejected for later classes. well, i guess that's that. hope we all have better luck in the next round Just got an e-mail I was referred not selected :( Good luck guys! Just got an email I was referred not selected as well for the EE :( I also got an email about Computer Engineering about tentatively selected and requested an OF-306 form. But I'm not sure what happen next. My status has not change yet on the website Did you get the OF 306 form today? That's federal employment declaration form. So they're still sending out notifications of selections today/tomorow Anyone got email for ChemE? Show More Responses @SR nope I emailed ms. Bridgette (I'm assuming that's your HR specialist too) and she said we should hear back by tomorow. But I do know a cheme that got an email Monday with just the federal employment declaration attached it didn't say anything else RE: ChemE; @SR; I also got the email monday that said to send the Declaration by today (May 5). I assume there is a backlog on contacting applicants but the automated process must continue. Thanks for all the updates. Yes she is my HR too. Hopefully we will hear by tomorrow. I just received the rejection emails for both EE vacancies. I thought my interview went well and I have BSEE, MSEE from top 20 Universities and 10 years engineering/telecomm experience in private sector and USG. Any thoughts on how I can round out my application for next time? Perhaps taking and passing the Patent Bar will help? Good luck to everyone! I think it's as xyz mention; networking, going to the job fairs and talking to several of the SPE. Not sure if not getting selected is solely based on qualification. Of all the SPE I spoke to at the job fair non of them has the Pantent Bar. Good luck everybody :) I got rejected for EE too. maybe they'll hire more EE's in the next round. i have worked at the office before and my class was 70 percent EE's I also received a rejected letter for EE. How and when to apply in the next round? MMO, it will be automatic and we won't have to interview again Just received a referred but not selected for ChemE. Show More Responses Same here. Referred, not selected for ChemE. also, i received the referred not selected before and still got an offer a month later referred not selected from chemical I got selected for ChemE (Last Name "N" from post on 5/2). @stu, how did you get an offer after? did you apply+interview again? maybe your rejection was for one grade (gs9/7) but your acceptance for the other (gs9/7)? @Jake, i had only aplied for gs7. and no we won't have to apply or interview again. my guess at the time was some folks dropped out before the start date here's the message i got last time As noted in the vacancy announcement, interval cut-offs dates have been established for this particular vacancy. If you are not selected for the cutoff date under which you applied your application will continue to be valid and therefore carry over to the next established cutoff. Your application will continue to be considered for the position until the vacancy is closed completely or you withdraw your application via USAJobs. "Selections and offers are still pending" response i got from biomedical department ^ this was the email response when i asked for a status update Unfortunately for me and other ChemE candidates it doesn't look like they're hiring for the July or August class as USAJobs only shows Vacancies for ME/EE/CompE. I emailed last from biomedical and she said they're still doing selections by selecting officials I got the form on Tuesday. I got my tentative offer letter today for the CompEng position. I applied for cut off date May 1st as I was not able to apply earlier. I still have a chance? Anyone still waiting on biomedical it seems like all other majors for the majority hVe heard back I applied EE and CE, still haven't heard back. Anyone have any info? Interviewed for EE and CE GS 7. I also applied for GS-9 but didn't get any interview fro that. Yesterday received an email "referred not selected" for GS-9 EE position, which I knew I wasn't gonna get selected. Still waiting for GS-7. emailed and left voicemail for the HR. Will update when I get a reply. Still waiting for BME. Interviewed on 14th. Are there any other BME applicants waiting? I'm thinking if I haven't heard anything by now my chances are pretty slim :( Show More Responses ^ so i interviewed on the 13 and I'm still waiting to hear back. i emailed the HR person and she was like offers and selections are still pending. if you can get in touch with them and you heard something else please lemme know was reading through this today (it was very informative, thank you) and reviewing my submitted application when I saw the line "Applicants must have submitted application before March 13th to be considered." I submitted mine on March 23rd - does that mean I am not going to be considered for this position at all? I don't understand why they would leave the online cutoff date open until May 1st but only consider applications submitted until a non-posted date. I have only received an email saying that my application is in the "HR Review" status and no word on an interview (although it has only been a week) Does anyone know if there will be a second round of hiring/interviews for applicants after that March 13th date? I applied mine on May 1st. HR said it was second cutoff date and you were eligible to do so. I guess your application will be reviewed after May 1st. Question for the individuals who got selected last week - 1. How long does it take to get an offer letter after receiving the "selected" email? 2. Does the offer letter come in a separate email? Or does the HR call first and then send the offer letter? 3. How long did they give you to make a decision? 4. After accepting the offer, how long does it take for the background check and all other paper work? Re: Design Examiner positions. Got a call on May 1 to set up an interview. Interview is this week. Do you know how many they are interviewing for Design Examiners? RE: Design Examiner - Don't know how many interviews there will be, but I was told there would be two weeks of scheduled interviews for 15 open positions in Alexandria. When I interviewed (last week) there was another candidate waiting in the security checkpoint line with me, so for at least some time slots they are conducting at least two at a time. The skills test, interview and campus tour lasted almost 1-1/2 hours. Again, not sure how many of those they do in a day. Thanks for the info Andy. Were the on-site interviews just for the Alexandria location, or for both the Alexandria location and San Jose office? I am asking for a friend, he had a phone interview for the design examiner position. The skills test was computerized, and the phone interview was with a panel of three people. RE Design Examiner. Not really sure how the interviews vary between the two locations. I live several hours from Alexandria and received a call to set up a time for a live interview. The phone interview option was not offered. I believe you choose a location (Alexandria or San Jose) during the application process. RE: Design Examiner: My interview was last week. Was told there's over 100 interviews in 2 weeks. they'll make decision on next Tuesday. We'll get the result no later than early June. I applied march 23rd and have only gotten the "your application is being reviewed" @ T my roommate is waiting also should be coming soon no later than next week I would assume. first round to be referred took me about 2-3 weeks Great thread everyone! all the information was really helpful for the 1st round of hires congrats to those who will be joining in june! Re: Design. I received selected email for San Jose today (5/18) I interviewed on Wednesday (5/11) at the Alexandria location. Show More Responses Re: Design, Congratulation! Did you only apply for one location or both ? Re: Design, Thank you! I applied for both. I actually live near Alexandria and was hoping to be able to stay in the area but it looks like I will be moving. Does anyone know the start date for design examiners? RE: Design Start Date. During my interview on May 10 I was told the Alexandria start date for new Design Examiners was June 27. Don't know if that will be the same for San Jose. I only applied for Alexandria (I'm also local), but now I kinda wish I had applied for both locations. Enjoy the west coast. RE: Design-It looks like they gonna fill up San Jose's vacancy first. Anyone got any update from local? For those who applied after the first cutoff, I just received an email stating that my application has been verified and will be fully reviewed before it is forwarded to a selecting official. (BME) Has anyone else got that? mmp, you will be receiving a qualification email real soon I applied last march 10, 2016 and interviewed April 13, 2016. On May 2, 2016, received email that "referred not selected". However, today, I received another email stating that I was referred for selecting official. Does anyone know what this mean? Am I on the second round? Do I need to have another interview? ^^^ you are in the second round and wont need to interview Similarly, I applied for BME patent examiner position and got a "referred not selected" email on May 11th; however, today I was sent an email that stated I was "referred to the selecting official for further consideration." Assuming this means I am in the second round pool, can anyone comment on the timeframes for second or third round offers in relation to the start of the June, July, August training sessions? I received "Application received" email on May 9. and I received referred to the selecting office email on May 20. This is for CE. I guess next step is interview. Show More Responses Does anyone know the difference between GS7 and GS9 in work wise? Does all new hires start from step1 of pay rate? Any design examiner receive their tentative offer? Regarding GS7 VS GS9, it's all about production. Not sure of the specifics, but I think GS7 is 85% of expected production and GS9 is 100% of expected production. Where you start on the 1-10 step pay scale I believe is based upon experience/salary at your last position or your grades if you are coming straight out of university. Did anyone hear from the computer engineering (CE) posting? I see the EE and BME got selected but I have not heard about CE getting selected. My USPO status didn't change and I never got an email, but my status on the career connector page changed to "referred to selecting official" Any idea what that means? @anon I also received the same email for BME I'm assuming the second round will start in july Does anyone know how many there are hiring for the second round in the VA office. Or are they just now looking at satellite postings. Design Examiner: I was interviewed on site in VA on May 3rd. I was told they were interviewing a total of 14 people that day and they would be selecting a total of 15 people for that location. I thought the interview went well and I have an MFA (I don't know if that is a positive or negative as far as the hiring process is concerned) I think the interview went well but I have not heard anything back yet. Has anyone else heard anything or know when we will hear back? I was told that the start date should be around the end of June. It has been 3 weeks so I am starting to get concerned I am not sure how long this process takes it has exceeded the projected 10 weeks at this point. RE: Design Examiner: This is week ten since the announcement closed, so I would expect selections or not-selected notices to go out this week. I applied on 05/01/2016. Did anyone who applied the same time receive a response? Show More Responses I received referred to the selecting office email on May 20. I guess they are selecting people for interview now. @sssss - did you get an email/did your USA jobs status change? my career connections status changed but not the USAjobs page I just received a Referred to Selecting Official. I was interviewed on April 14th for ChE and didn't make the first cut. I thought all openings were already filled. @T I got the email and USA jobs status changed. RE: Design Examiner (Alexandria) - This morning I received an email with a tentative offer of a GS07 Design Examiner Position with a start date of June 27. I assume it's tentative while HR confirms my transcripts and background check. Congrats! I am still super nervous I haven't heard anything back! Andy what is your background? I have a masters degree and I am not sure if that is a positive or a negative. Kay - My degree is technical art and I have some intellectual property work experience. By reviewing the many comments on this thread, I'm not exactly sure what the criteria for the ideal candidate looks like for any of the examiner positions. @Andy - Congrats! Did you do interview after receiving an "referred to selecting official" email ? When did you do the interview and totally how long did it take to get offer ? Show More Responses When does round 2 start? @ssss week after referred to selecting you get interview email so this week and next week would be your interview and you hear back like 2-3 weeks after interview. I applied in February and recieved an email that my application was sent to the selecting official April 1. I was called to schedule and interveiw on April 29th. My interview was May 2nd and I still have not heard back I called hr and they could not give me a time frame but said I would hear back either way. It is a long process. Hope that helps ssss, which field did you apply for? so everyone who had gotten referred in may are really in the third round it seems Hello all, I was "referred to hiring official" twice (mechanical) and received my second "referred not selected" email today for the "second round consideration". We'll see if I get a chance in the third round. I got the same email (refereed not selected ) for ME. however, I did not receive that email for the other disciplines (EE, BME, CE). Is that the case with everyone else? got an email from chemical saying they're not hiring anymore cuz they have reached hiring goal for fiscal year Yep, got the same ChemE e-mail that I was referred but hiring goal had been met. Bummer. Me too. I received the same email for CE, Referred but not selected'. Can I still hope? For BME, email said' not meet the educational requirement'. I have MS in technical with a strong BME research background. What should I do? Wow and here i thought we had another round of hiring. Thanks for the info guys Show More Responses ^ when did you get the BME email? I think they prefer that the degree match with the position applied. If people are getting the email about quota filled I wonder if they will do 3rd round then or just close it off. Did anyone else hear back for Design Patent? For BME email, I received it after 3 weeks of submission. I was surprised too. What to do? at this point your application won't be looked at until further point. i would suggest just applying again at a later date but just apply for whatever you have a degree in. it seems like you got pretty far in CE. have you applied to the dallas or san jose position for bme? Thank you. I will apply there too. any other departments/majors heard from second round. or is the hiring closed for all. I'm sorry for people in third round who won't even get a chance due to this. i got an email from bme saying selections not made. Just received email referred not selected for the second round. I applied in the first round for EE. I interviewed for the design patent position about 5 weeks ago and I still haven't heard back. Has anyone received an offer or not selected? Should I call HR I am assuming I was not selected but my status has not changed? Jay - RE: Design examiner, I received my formal offer letter last week along with the information to begin the pre-employment background check. The start date for this group of design examiners is June 27. So, I would assume if you have not heard from anyone in HR, that you were not selected. Keep at it, I believe there will be several waves of new examiners joining the PTO. Show More Responses Anyone applied again to San Jose positions? I applied again to San Jose positions with CE after not selected at VA location, interviewed on July 14. Still waiting for ... it takes about 2-3 weeks after interview for them to get back to you. so maybe by beginning of next month Re MTD: Did the interview questions changed from the first interview? I received the referred to the selected official email on June/30, but haven't heard anything about a second interview. Re Celo: The questions are kind of almost the same as first interview .. I interviewed for san jose on the 14th as well. Any else apply to the alexandria posting. hi all im hired for the detroit position for PE ME but i live in texas and also i applied for the dallas one too. my application was referred to officials for dallas. do you think they select me for dallas too since i live here?\ thanks Anyone applied to San Jose positions hearing anything back yet? Did anyone here re-apply again the same place after not selected within a few month? Since VA is open again .. do you know how it take to hear something after been referred? i got referred on jun/30 but i got hr email on jul/7 I applied to VA again, its a long way before they start reviewing our application. another 2 weeks I received referred not selected email for computer engineering for a week ago.. is anyone here to hear anything about Dallas position yet? Create a PA Announcement for couple celebrating their 50th year anniversary 267 AnswersThanks for sharing your experience. How long did it take for them to contact you after you received the conditional job offer? I know they do an extensive background check but how long did you wait? Thanks!! when I received my CJO I was whisked to HR for immediate processing and given my class start date that same day. Class was to begin a month and a half after my CJO. which during that time the extensive background check was done. I hope this helps if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask I am currently in training and loving every moment! I'm currently awaiting for my background check to done. How long does it take to hear back from them? This process is like another interview! Lol Training starts in mid April. Thanks for your help! Show More Responses I want to thank you for posting your interview process. I was successful with my phone interview and was told I will get a call from the senior recruiter. How many days are your class and the times? Also, are you able to have freedom in which you can spend time with friends/family? Classes are 6 days a week. There isn't much time to spend with fam an friends. You only get Sunday off and by that time you are so exhausted you need your rest. I had an online interview where I recorded myself answering questions. Do you know of anyone who went through that process? I have a face to face interview on Tuesday morning. Do you think the online interview will help me at all? Ok I got the same thing I did the online recording myself interview. now I have a face to face interview on Thursday at 7:30am. Does anyone know how long you will be there for. Do they have a time that everything ends and they put you back on a plane back home? not sure about the online interview i didnt do that. the interview takes about 4 hours Thank you so much for your post! I am currently out of state and scheduled for a face to face in ATL Thursday. I was given a ticket to return home that same day. If everything goes well, how quickly is a background check/Drug test given ? And when would training begin? This was a really helpful post...thank you so much! I need to do on online face to face (kinda like a Skype thing I guess)...does anyone know what kind of questions will be asked? This was very helpful, I just completed my online interview this morning and hoping I get an interview face to face with them! Thank you. I got a call asking if I had a valid passport. My passport is on the way as I type. Freaking out that I will be pushed aside because of not having a passport in hand!?!?!?! They also called me when my new passport was on its way. I called them back and told them the situation and they said it wasn't a problem at all. I called back again once I received my new passport and had a phone interview and then I did an online interview this weekend. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to call back after doing the online interview? Do you hear back either way?? Thanks! Show More Responses ^^ I am interested to know the answer to that! Hey I had a phone interview Monday, a few hours later I was sent a link for the online interview. Less that 48 hours later I received a call to schedule my face to face interview which is Monday at 12:30p! Wish me luck! Have you heard of anyone being offered a CJO after the f2f? If you were not asked to stay behind, is that a guarantee they did not choose you or maybe they are checking references? Ty for the interview tips! I Just had my phone interview. They said they are sending my interview & resume to someone then they would be in contact. Is this a bad sign!?!? Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I did as you suggested, I smiled and introduced myself to everyone in the room. Everything went exactly as you've mentioned. I received my cjo yesterday!!!!! ^^AWESOME!!!! What happened after your phone interview? And how long did it take to hear something? When does training start? I'm going crazy & it's only the NEXT day after my phone interview!!!!!! If they ask for your address, email, phone # in your phone interview is that a good sign???? Love this post! Question!, after the second phone interview, is it normal for them to say that a Senior Recruiter will be in touch if they have anymore questions? I'm freaking out! To the ppl who made it past the phone interview. What did they say at the end of the call???? Show More Responses I made it past the phone interview! I thought I didn't make it because at the end of the call the representative said "if anymore information is needed, a Senior Rep will contact you." Just received the invite to do the video interview! Will keep you all updated. Sorry everyone i have been away for a while I am in training trying to focus on graduating training. But as far as the online interview process I can't speak on that because I have not gone through that. If they say someone will get back with you they will just have patience. I know you are anxious just as I was but they will let you know something one way or the other. And to chocolate girl congrats I am glad i could help. Congrats on your video interview. Remember it's an interview, so dress professionally. Good luck! I received my invitation for my f2f a few days after I did the video interview. Please tell me all about training! Is it intense? Thank you for creating this post! I was fully prepared for my f2f. I'm excited to start training! I had my first phone interview today and several hours later, I got an email for a video interview. I was just wondering if any one knows how long it will take for them to call you for a f2f after you have done the phone interview. I did my phone interview last Friday and still haven't heard anything. I know my application status still says that I'm under review so I'm assuming that is a good sign cause I haven't gotten any rejection emails or calls. I'm just getting a bit anxious. thanks for your responses. i received a call from 000... number on friday and i think, it was Delta, how do i call them back? If a worker was removing things from the aircraft, would you confront him or tell management? How would you respond that? I'm confused If you received a call from 000 yes it was Delta! they would have left a message so check your messages. Dominicanboyz >Well i can't answer that question for you because the reason it is asked is to see what type of comprehension of right and wrong or professional and unprofessional behavior you have. Confronting a person could lead to altercation or angry exchange of words. Think about it, is that what you want to have happen in a professional environment? Always think of how you could handle this on a professional level? I hope this helps you to answer the question. Show More Responses No they didn't leave a VM, However, I called people scout and they conducted an interview for me right away. Today, they sent me am email congratulating me, and that I have been moved forward to the next step. Now, they said I need me to record a video answering some questions and send them back to then. Hi, just received my invite for the phone interview. I know the questions they will be asked. Would anybody please tell me what you answered. If you rather pm just let me know. Thank you Do they pay you during the training? OMG, I have the video interview but I have no idea what the questions are. Can anyone help me with that? Thanks so much for sharing! THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to write this informative post. Yes training is very intense so be prepared. Yes you get paid during training. And if someone is taking things from the aircraft don't assume the worst they could be under the direction of the company or supervisor to do so. I would just ask them if they had permission to do so and according to what that tell me I would then make a decision as to what i would do. If they are not authorized to take something I would inform my supervisor. And if they are authorized to do so i would not do anything. I received a reply back from delta for a virtual recorded interview FRiday. I am pretty nervous, does anyone know what to expect? what questions will be asked, etc? i just did one and they had basic interview questions like how would you handle working with someone who was slacking at there job, name a time you went above and beyond your job to please a customer, and name a time you received and advancement within your job. They give you practice questions that really help you for the real interview I was still nervous but I think I did well. I just did mine yesterday wish me luck and I will pray that you as well make it through you will do great. I am waiting for the f2f interview. She said it will probably be in September. I'm so excited but nervous! Can anyone tell me what the questions are, if they have changed? Thanks so much everyone!! Okay i was referred, did the app n took the assessment. Now do i just wait for a call? I havent spoke to anyone at the moment. Show More Responses Seems like some of us are going through this differently. I have done the initial application, the behavioral assessment and I did the video interview a few days ago. I got an email yesterday saying that I would get a call within 7-10 days and to have my passport ready.. I am guessing that is the phone interview that everyone else has done already? The call is not an interview. You will be asked about your passport expiration and some other 'housekeeping' type questions. No behavioral STAR questions! I am still waiting patiently I see none else has gotten a call back yet so I am not discouraged about it I keep myself prayed up. If anyone has gotten a call back who applied at the end of August please do share this I would just like to see if I am the only one waiting. Does anybody know what happens if i miss the first phone interview, due to a job commitment? Please let me know if anybody has more info They'll call you back I missed 2 phone calls. They left a voicemail and called me the next day. I got invited to a f2f. I did my video interview about three weeks ago; it had 5 behavioral questions. And Today I received an email for a phone interview! Can someone tell me what to expect? Nervoussssss when did you get drug tested? before or after training? what were the post difficult questions that most people had a hard time answering? I just did the online interview questions. Does anyone have an idea of when I will hear back? Can you share how long you had to wait to hear back from Delta after the online video interview? Everyone phone interview is different. It's basically a occasional conversation not really an interview. They ask you do you have visible tattoos, how do you feel about the uniforms, being well groomed, why would you make a great FA, etc. Then if they feel you've answer they questions correctly and your personality show over the phone they intend an invitation to atlanta (F2f). They don't give you the exact the date. They tell you will receive an email with some dates 7-10 days later. Show More Responses I had my phone interview September 18. Wasn't really a phone interview. I was told I was being invited to ATL for a f2f and should received an email about the dates available for the f2f. Couple hours later I received the email with six time slots to choose from; I chose September 25. Wish me luck! Is anyone going to the interview on Oct 3 at 12:30? Im going October 3rd Goodluck Everyone! I'm getting a little skeptical as to whether or not I will hear back. I submitted my video interview last Tuesday, September 16. Immediately after, I received an email from the third party interview website confirming my completion and saying that I would hear back from Delta. It has been over a week and I haven't received an email or a phone call. I checked my status on the Delta career page and under current, it now says "no jobs found" but under archived, it says my status is under review. Can anyone make sense of all of this? I'm really hoping to at least get a F2F. They wouldn't just not contact me, right? Even if it is a no?? ^^ I finally got the call and have my F2F next Wed. Oct. 8th!!!! How have everyone's been going??? Any new suggestions??? I'm flying out in the morning for my F2F interview! I'm nervous and excited! I really hope I stand out and get the job! Good luck to all those candidates that will be there with me! If its to ATL for the F2f Can u fly with your Gov issue ID. Am kinda nervous because my Passport just expired. They asked for my passport ID/Exp. Date. Then asked if I had any tattoos & piercings. They ask if you agree with the uniforms, if you're willing to relocate, so on. If they like what they hear, they'll offer you the F2F. I have mine tomorrow morning at 12:30. My best friends mom is a flight attendant herself and said that the F2F is about 5 hours long. Best of luck to everyone! What a rush! I was backpacking in Asia for 3 weeks and the day before leaving I did my online video interview. I was in Bangkok 5 days ago and received an email from Delta asking me to do a second online video interview, this time in french. I flew home and did it the next day. Only two days later I received a phone call from Delta telling me that they wanted to interview me in Atlanta, the nice lady said I would receive an email in about 10 days... but I received it the next day, yesterday!! And today I received an email with my flight schedule for a flight tomorrow... wow! so tight! The interview is the next day. Nov. 12th (my birthday)... I'm nervous because I get in ATL at 9pm, the interview is at 7:30 PM and I'm still jetlagged from crossing so many time zones and catching 4 flights with 55 hours between leaving Bangkok and arriving home. I'm also super excited though :) Thanks for all the good advice, glad that you are enjoying training. The video interview for foreign language (mine was French) is a mix of STAR questions and other. First I was asked to read a sentence in French, then to translate from English to French, to make an onboard arrival announcement, to tell a good customer service action I experienced and what I would do if a baby was crying, all in French of course. Because I lived in Paris for 4 years (working at Disneyland Paris) this interview was very easy and actually fun! Bom courage! I have been invited to do a F2F in Atlanta but didn't do any phone interview. I mean, nothing that I would called an interview. A lady called me and asked for my passport info, then she went through uniform and grooming expectations, asked me if I had any questions and said I would receive an email later for a face to face interview, which arrived the following day. Is that the phone interview you guys are talking about? Does Delta fly you out for the F2F interview or are you required to handle your own arrangements for the interview. Just curious because im in charlotte NC and closest to me is ATL. I just received my email to do my digital interview so im soooo excited! Praying Gods favor over me and you all as well! I'm really excited I need pointers on the video interview anyone... I have to do it within 3 days. I applied about a week ago. I completed the video interview questions late last night. I believe I did well. When do you think I should get passport information together? Also, I'll be 21 in April do you think they'll continue with me until then or just tell me to reapply? I know most of you said it took months anyway right? Will someone Or anyone that knows of someone whose successfully made it past training that will so generously take the moment to give a couple of questions they were asked and how they answered those questions in the particular "S. T. A. R." Format? I don't want to overthink the answers and process but it doesn't appear that there's always a "T" for "Task" required in all situations Sooo am I presenting what my mental "Task" was in solving and resolving this situation? I did it the 26th and I'm still waiting for the phone interview has anyone hear anything recently or applied? I completed my video interview and I am anxiously awaiting a response. I do have one concern; I don't have a passport. I am going to apply for one tomorrow and get the ball rolling, but will that hinder me from receiving an invite for the F2F interview? Any help/info would be great! Thanks! @annonymous-i dont have a passport either. I completed my online interview and I was going to start the process of getting one once I get a call back asking for a F2F or some type of further instruction. Idk how I did with my online interview, I think I did good, I smiled, gave stories, but I think.my nerves we a bit obvious since I paused a few times to gather my thoughts mid recordings. So who knows. I did my recording 12 hours after getting the email. Anyone get any word back since the recording that did it recently. (Within 2 weeks) Describe a conflict that you had with a manager, how did you handle it? How was it resolved? The Situation my co-workers and I were participating in a training exercise I was being tested along with others on giving intramuscular injections. The Task I had to do was to give a patient a shot intramuscularly, and I thought I did well. But my manager said although I injected correctly my technique was wrong. I was embarrassed and hurt by the comment she’d made in front of my co-workers. The Action after training exercise had ended I asked if I could speak with her privately, she agreed. I explained to her I felt embarrassment and hurt by what she said and how she said it in front of my peers, she explained she didn’t intentionally mean to hurt or embarrass me in front of my peers she was just trying to make a bold statement in order to teach my peers and myself the importance of good safety practices. I listened and understood what she had to say and it made sense. I asked her what I could do to get my technique better she gave a few pointers. The Result was the next time that I gave the injection she was there to observe and she said it was perfect. @missB I did my recoreded video on the 17th I just checked my status on delta and its moved from current to archived status under review is yours like that that I hope thats not a bad thing Does anyone know how many training classes are offered per year? This is a bit frustrating, especially not knowing what it means.. Has anyone happened to deal with this kind of situation? Thank you in advance! And best of luck to all !:) Show More Responses About the language video interview, there are 5 questions, two of them are read out loud with one having to be translated from english to spanish. The other three are situational, such as "how would you handle a crying child on the plane as a customer?" You literally have only 15 secs to prep and 30 seconds to answer. I'm have enjoyed reading all of you'll post it has helped me out so much, i just received my email to do my digital interview.... hope and pray i do really well on it.....Nervous wish me luck Thanks everyone for your questions and feedback. I received my email today to do the video interview and I must admit that I am super nervous and I'm sure I'm over thinking the whole thing. I feel like I haven't interviewed for so long and this process is so detailed you just want to make sure everything is good. I noticed a couple other people ask but no response, I'm assuming Delta covers the expense for flying you out especially being that they don't give you that much time to plan...am I correct? I also wanted to know how often do they offer training classes as I think I'll miss the one starting this month? Best of luck to all! Thanks for the great info! Video info is tomorrow! Can someone post their five questions asked? I know, mine may be different, but knowledge is power! " Hey guys! This same thing happened to me today . anyone know what this means or had it happened too them ?? Im nervous. I completed my app, got an invite to do the phone interview a few days later. Still waiting ( and hoping) for an email for the phone "interview". I too have noticed my app is still under review but has been archived. What does that mean? I supppse if we haven't gotten a TBNT we still in the running!! Keeping hope alive Im sorry I meant video interview not phone interview..... For the video interview they give us three days to complete it, can we access the video interview at anytime or do we need to request a time to do the video interview? So I've done the application, online assessment, and just now completed the video interview. Has anyone completed the video interview and not gotten a call? What do they look for in the background check? Show More Responses Hello everyone, I just got an online assessment to test my French & I am a little nervous because I don't know French that well. What are the questions that they ask? Thanks for your help :) Would anyone who was offered a CJO give any advice or provoking questions which would be great to ask during the F2F? I will be going to ATL soon for my interview. Any tips are highly recommended! So as for the STAR format questions, during my I video I made sure I stated each thing, however I didn't say "The Task was Blah blah" "the Result was Blah blah" I just made sure to include it. Is that okay? Or was I supposed to specifically say what the task was. "k" on Mar 17: that's how I repliedon my video interview as well and it must've been okay because I received an email telling me I was moving forward and to expect a call whithin 7-10 days. So, I applied and uploaded my resume a couple weeks ago, got an email instructing me to complete a much more in-depth application a few days later, and received a link and instructions on how to do the video interview two days ago. I just finished the video interview and am now wondering what comes next? Does anyone know when the next FTF interviews will be conducted? When the next training class starts? I've heard both April and May. I was really nervous when I did the video interview, but for those of you wondering - they let you practice beforehand, as many times as necessary. The questions aren't that bad, and the actual interview should only take about 20-30 minutes. Thar - How long after your video interview did you have to wait before receiving the email telling you that you were moving forward? After you received your call, did you get several emails each changing the date you could have your interview, or did you receive one email with 3 dates and were given your flight info? Just completed the phone call with an invite for a f2f. It wasn't an interview. Just information regarding the new uniforms and policy as well as grooming info. and if you have any visible tattoos They ask for your passport number and your name as it appears on your DL for your airline ticket...waiting on the email with dates and times for the interviews. Training is late April or early May, she didn't give specific dates or if they were 2 separate training classes....stay tuned Anyone have their f2f on Tuesday the 21st at 7:30? :D I mean 31st! Show More Responses I have a f2f on Thursday, April 2 at 12:30 but I do not have my passport. I applied for my passport last week so I should be getting it soon. The person I spoke with two days ago during my phone interview informed me that I would be able to do the f2f but I have to have my passport before I start my training. Does anyone knows if she gave me the correct information? I read somewhere that I will not move forward with the interview process without a valid passport because they ask you for it before starting the interview. Someone please help!!!! I am so nervous. What were the online interview questions they asked? Can someone tell me what are the tattoo guideliNes? I have a tattoo on my foot, one on each wrist and my chest. All can be covered. I will be having my video interview soon, a little nervous here. I need help on what I should wear and how to do my makeup and hair for the video interview :(? I applied before and was rejected after the one sided video interview. I need help guys ! Anything will do ! Thank you babes I have my f2f Friday April 24 at 12:30pm. I also told the interviewer that I didn't have my passport but that it is on its way, she told me the same thing that I would need it if I were selected for training. I sent them an email reiterating that because the follow up emails keep insisting I must have it! I'm stressing out here about it. No tatoos on arms, wrists, legs, face...no visible anything I have 2 small wings on the back of my neck which can be covered up by wearing a scarf. Will that be a problem in me moving forward? I am planning to do my interview questions, with my cell phone. Is this good or bad? It has been three weeks that my application has been in and it still says it's under review. I haven't received any phone calls or emails regarding it. I check it several times a day and it still is under current applications and under review. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Has anyone EVER been contacted AFTER the interview that initially got rejected? Show More Responses I am currently at Atlanta Georgia for my FTF at 730 in the morning. I am beyond excited and nervous at the sametime. Your post is very very helpful! I applied about 3 days ago and have not received an email. Can anyone please inform me what the process is after you apply online. greatly appreciate it hi.. I applied literally a week ago from today and haven't relieved anything.. how long do it usually take to get a response ? on my profile it still says "under review" Applied August 6th and got an invitation for the digital interview. wow congrats still waiting on SOMETHING 😩 I have a question. I live in Houston tx and i see that the training academy is in Atlanta. Do they pay for my ticket to fly there for their academy, or are those expenses mine to cover? they emailed me asking me to take the second assessment but when I go on my profile there's no assessment?!? anyone know why this is ? They will send you an assessment email again. They were having technical difficulties previously with their system. Check your email today you should have received an email saying they have fixed the problem with their system. Make sure you have time to perform the assessment 15 - 20 minutes and then complete the application which may take you longer. I applied August 18th and finished all my assessments that same day. I received an email today August 20th for the video interview. Planning on taking it tomorrow morning. Can someone please help with some sample questions? Show More Responses Just got my invitation for the digital interview....NERVOUS... Me too. I got my video interview email this am I'm gonna take it later Me three, I have to take my video interview. Does anyone know when the next training class is? I missed two calls to do my pre screening and schedule the face to face. Does anyone know if they will call back after two times? I have another question. I was wondering if anyone received their pre screening call on a weekend day? never mind. They called me today and said I would get an email listing the available dates and time for my f2f! I am so glad to have made it this far. 😁😁 invitation for a video interview looking up sample questions now i have a f2f in 2 weeks, if offered a CJO does anyone know if they drug test you that day or before/after training? I have a phone interview within the next week to 10days. My passport hasn't arrived yet. What do I do when they ask for my passport information? To Ashley! I got the email for my phone interview yesterday and the call the same day. I expedited my passport and told the lady which she said was fine, but if you have paperwork saying so then bring it to your face to face! Let me know how it goes, we could be there together! Show More Responses To Anonymous that's so much. I got the email yesterday as well and the call 2 hours later. Like literally right after I posted my question about the passport. I explain the passport situation (which I had expedited). She said it was fine and proceed with the phone interview. I got invited to a F2F, she said I should receive an email within 7 days. How did your interview go? Yesterday I also called to check the status of my passport. The agent that is handling my app said they are backed up on the processing but promised I should have my passport by August 31 no later then Sept 1st. Typo **Thanks so much** Does anyone who did the video online remember any of the questions that was asked as I know mine maybe different I just want to get an idea of the kind of questions that will be asked. To Anonymous I got my email for my face to face on Sept 11th. Good luck on your interview!!! Does anyone have a F2F on Sept 11th? To Ashley! Well good luck on your interview, I'd love to hear how it goes for you! I was actually sent the same date and had to reschedule, if we're both lucky and make it through we could possibly be in the same training session! To Anonymous I will definitely keep you updated I have your email. That would awesome let's keep our fingers crossed...good luck!!! Ashley, I have been invited for f2f and sent in my preferences. i haven't been given a date yet, but one of my choices was the 11th. Anonymous, when did you reschedule for? Show More Responses I did my hirevue interview on the 24 and haven't heard anything back 😩 no email, phone call.. nothing 😢 Has anyone received an offer after the left the f2f? Still haven't heard back from Delta.... not sure what that means. My profile still says "under review". ditto This has been so incredibly helpful and best of luck to everyone! Anonymous (debmarie887), hope the F2F went well! Do you mind if I email you with a few questions? I'd love to hear about your experience and I'm really not sure what to expect. My F2F is scheduled for Tuesday the 22nd! Please let me know! Show More Responses good luck everyone I have my F2F @ 7:30am on 9/15. Anyone else scheduled for that time? Hello everyone. Thanks for sharing all of your experiences! This post has been so helpful. I had my video interview (w 5 STAR questions) on sept 2 and have not heard a word from as of yet. I did receive notification that my interview was received by third party. How long did it take to receive an offer to move on to the F2F interview? My application is still current and 'under review' but I am starting to get a little worried. Will Delta at least let you know if you are out of the running w a follow-up email? Again, thanks for any and all feedback. Best of luck to all of you! Hey Everyone. I did my digital interview on the 28th of August and I'm still waiting as well, patiently but anxiously. This site has been very helpful. My status still says "under review" I submitted my video interview on 9/4. Got my next step email on 9/14 and just last night at 11pm Atlanta time, I got a call from the nicest lady. I got invited to the f2f but still waiting on email to choose a date and time. @nina when is your f2f? Maybe I could schedule same as you if I get the email soon I did my hirevue webcam interview on 9/4 and still haven't heard form delta. No calls or emails and I got my passport expedited within one day just to be sure I would have it when they called. It's now 9/16 and I'm nervous but my status online is still under review so I hope that's a good thing. Show More Responses To Chrissy, I haven't heard back from Delta yet. No phone call and no email. It's been three weeks since I completed my Hire Vue Digital Interview. My application still says "Under Review". I am trying to stay hopeful, but I am quite nervous and anxious. Yes! That would be great if we could go on the same day, making me feel more at ease. I hope you get your f2f soon! To anyone who already had their f2f, what were some the questions that were asked? This is critical because they are watching and listening to your every move. I just want to make sure I am prepared! First impressions make their decision! @nina, i received the email with avail dates and times and I got my first choice which is 9/25 @ 12:30pm. I'm preparing for it but I'm pretty nervous just thinking about it. I hope you will get a call soon. If not, do you think you could send a follow up email perhaps. I've heard some people get a next steps email as early as 2 days after video interview but I got mine 10 days later. Keep ur hopes up. I heard if it's still under review then it's a good sign @chrissy were you refered by a Delta employee? I'm so nervous now after seeing how soon you got your email. Study hard I'm sure you will do great. Did anyone email/call Delta because they wanted to show interest about the job? Especially if your application is still "under review" and its been over three weeks since the digital interview? I am getting worried. I have my face to face interview September 24th at 12:30 pm anybody else going to this one @nina I'm starting to get worried also but I have heard some people waiting longer than that and still get the f2f interview Waiting is a good sign everyone who didn't make it hears back a week before me @Jenelle To Jenelle: Yes I'm hoping and praying that waiting is all there is to it. I wouldn't want to call/email them and sound too pushy or needy. I am sure being patient is what they want to see from all the applicants who haven't been invited to the F2F interview yet. To Cambreashia: How do you find this out? Is it really true? Who else has done their digital interview a little bit over three weeks ago and hasn't heard back from Delta? @nina. I did mines on 9/4 which is a little over 2 weeks and still haven't heard back so I'm in the same boat as you Show More Responses @nina I had friends who did their video after me and heard back after a week that they didn't get it I didn't find out I had it until a little after two weeks that I took it so I do believe waiting is a good sign after the video Cambreashia: I too, believe waiting is a good thing especially if you are still in the running, however you never know what the outcome really is. It could be a yes or a no. There's just so many steps in the process, but it's all worth it! Shanny: It's been three weeks for me. Four weeks this coming up Thursday. Keep me updated. @Jenelle -no, I was not referred by a delta employee. My f2f is 9/25 @ 12:30pm. I'll keep u guys updated with how that goes. I hope you'll get a next steps email soon I applied online 8/23 and I just got an email to the second online assessment today @nina well all we have to do is just be very patient. Let me know the second you hear from them and I will let you know as well. @cambreashia thank you so much you made me feel alittle better at waiting. Good luck and keep us posted. You can do it :) Thank you @Jenelle and I will be on here as soon as my interview ends Thursday regardless of the results Sounds great really appreciate all of the tips and info. I'm excited for you! @cambreashia Good luck to Chrissy on her F2F interview! Thank you for being so supportive guys. I don't know what I would do without this forum! I am hoping to get a call/email this week. Hi! I have my f2f interview tomorrow and I'm so excited!! Seems like a long but fun day. Will they be doing the background checks/drug test that day? How was everyone's experience?! Can't wait to hear about it! @Nina does your status still say "under review" Show More Responses Hi! I have my f2f interview tomorrow and I'm so excited!! Seems like a long but fun day. Will they be doing the background checks/drug test that day? How was everyone's experience?! Can't wait to hear about it! (Realized I left my name out) anyone else going tomorrow at 1230?? Jenelle: Yes, my application is still under review. jessica let me know how it goes im going in on friday at 730 @Nina I'm trying to understand how some people hear back so quick and other take so long. Doesn't look like I made it. Went to archived. Hi everyone. I am so grateful for this post. I applied yesterday and received an invitation today for the video interview. I really didn't expect to hear back so soon and I am not fully prepared. Any help? Need to know what questions to expect please help Nina: What does it mean if it is archived? I would think you still have a chance... Archived means you are no longer a person of interest for the job position. No I don't, actually. I didn't hear back after my video interview for 3 weeks so do not worry about the time. I was told they need as least 2 people to watch and study the video interview. Now I have my face to face Monday at 7:30 am-Sept 28th-anyone else?? @akt I have my interview on Friday at 7:30 am as well. Show More Responses @nina I guess I didn't make the cut either, nine went to the archive tab as well. Though it still reads "under review" and I have not received a TBNT email I got my TBNT letter this morning and mine went from "under review" to re-apply to other positions with Delta. My f2f was today at 12:30 ended at 4:30 I wasn't offered a cjo but overall it was a really great experience I can't discuss too much just remember to use the star method and good luck Got my f2f today and they called about 8-10 people but didn't get it. It was a great experience and everyone was so welcoming that it helped take away all the nerves. Good luck to all. I'm not really sure what Delta is looking for anymore.....People who really wanted it and worked hard for it, didn't get it. After three weeks of anxiously waiting for the results of my digital interview, I finally received an email two days ago informing me to wait for a phone call. I got a call a few hours later, missed the call, and then a lady called back the same day, asked me about my passport and went over dress code, and then invited me to a face-to-face interview. Anybody else interviewing Monday, September 28th at 12:30PM? My interview is on Monday and somehow I never received an email telling me what to bring. Can someone please tell me what I'm supposed to bring? And does my badge say anything else besides my name? I went to f2f on Thursday and after seeing who they chose, left me confused with the kind of people they are looking for. They chose the ones that didn't dress professional and the ones that were so loud and obnoxious. Basically, if you go there dressed professional and hair up looking polished, don't be surprised when your name is not called. Then they tell the people not offered a cjo to be checking their email and junk mail giving us false hope. Why can't they just be honest? Was told the reason most of us weren't chosen is because the background checks have not come thru. If that's the case, then how come the ones offered cjo were taken for finger printing for background checks. For a company that people speak so highly of, I am just disgusted how they treat the ones not chosen. Just be straight forward and tell us we are not chosen plain and simple. The bus ride to the airport was silent. A bunch of people that looked so polished and answered so well in group interview yet was not chosen. I noticed, all chosen were from group A. I heard prior to the f2f that group A are the ones they really want. So for those going to f2f, don't stress to much about how you look and what to wear. It really doesn't matter. I have received the link to do my video interview. I am planning on doing it later today. Is it 5 questions and can anyone offer any insight on what is asked? I am very nervous! I know they will fly you to f2f interviews if it is domestic. Is anyone travelling internationally? I am prepared to pay for my own way if necessary. I know every airline is different. The last airline I worked for would cover the cost regardless of where you are coming from. Show More Responses I got archived today When was your interview @?? @Shanny how long have you been waiting since you did the digital interview? Hello guys!! just wanted to share something with you all. i recently interviewed with delta and was given a conditional job offer pending a background check in mid sept 2015.. Never give up just keep studying and researching the interview process. it took me three times to finally be offered a position. I know it can be nerve racking but, if this is something you really want you'll never let a couple of rejections get in your way. there looking for someone energetic and outgoing, this was an obstacle for me because ive always been somewhat of an introvert . just practice in a mirror!! the introduction part of the process is very important you have to be able to talk in front of a crowd. my advice to you is to keep a smile on your face at all times even, when others arent smiling it will make you stand out ,study the star method, talk to as many of the flight attendants and HR people as possible, Make sure you memorize at least 5 questions to ask them (even if you have to ask them all the same questions atleast ur showing effort and interest), dress professionally and neatly, practice ur posture and most importantly stay calm, cool and collected!! if youve had an interview and failed the first time or second time take a page from my book and try again. And, if this is ur first go at it i wish you the best!! Guys, Do They Give You Flight To Go To The Interview Or You Do Have To Pay For The Ticket ? Hi guys I just applied on Sunday and also completed the assessment the say day right after the application. I got an email early Tuesday morning for the online interview. I've read it a hundred times before I even applied! @CYBS, I was referred as well, but when I was referred I got an email in my email account specifying that I had been referred by "Jason." I then went through everything and filled out all the appropriate information and I have been watching my status all week. And since there is a huge interview group at the end of this month and the Delta HR are probably setting up for the interviews this weekend. I hope to hear from everyone!! Let's MAKE THE DELTA DIFFERENCE!! thanks, "anonymous" lol. good to know I'm not the only one stalking my application! I literally wake up with anxiety before I check my status! hopefully we can both make it through!! @Shanny Mine was moved to archived as well and still is "under review" I read on a forum that meant that the job listing has been closed to the public but if we are in the process of the interview we should be good. Although, I am still freaking out ughhh >.< @Shanny. Did you hear anything yet. I'm in the same boat as you. I heard archived isn't a good look, but still no tbnt letter. Lole what was your application timeline? I got an email yesterday saying I need to complete my digital interview within 3 business days so I am going to complete it on Monday so I can study some STAR questions and answers. Please help. Thank you. When do you take the drug test....and is it intense Does anybody know their policy on tattoos? Don't know their tattoo policy however did u just recently apply? Hello everyone. I am new to this Glassdoor and found this after submitting my application. I applied for LOD position and I was wondering if anyone else did too? I heard there are two sets of video interviews. Good luck to all of you and I too hope I can make it to the f2f. Hey guys! I just received a f2f invite the other day and I'm going on feb 23rd at 12:30pm. If anyone else is going at the same time let me know! Hey I have the same f2f interview date and time at 12:30 I brought my best to the f2f today, despite being nervous I gave it my best shot. Maybe I should have prepared myself in the STAR format, I don't know. There is always room for self-improvement and I can't relax until I know why I wasn't chosen for the hiring process. I am picking at things like maybe I did this wrong, or maybe they thought I was reaching for my phone when I was fixing my giant bag on the floor and disqualified me. By the end of the experience, I was gaining confident that I was a shoe-in. Especially after my one on one interview, I was under the impression that I did far greater than most. I was very relaxed and connected instantly with the interviewer. Yes I was nervous and I should have treated it more professionally but I decided to bring my honesty forward, after all I know I am made for Delta. If they can see the good in me, then they are perfect for me as well. Yea I am over thinking and worried! My main question and concern is: Only 5 were called out at the end of the Group A and Group B scenario. 5 people who seemed shy out of the whole load. Maybe they answered more on prompt, unlike me, more relaxed. I was surprised to see most of us dismissed. Including some of the candidates whom I was certain would be an instant fit with Delta. Is there a possibility that they missed me? Will they call? What are they basing their hiring decision on? How can I improve myself from future misconceptions? After I gave my best shot, I was honest and this is my dream job, custom made for me. How I could not be selected is astonishing to me. As long as I know the why, I am ok? Does any one have any advice or input on this? What are the really looking for? What could have I been doing that has created a misconception? Does it really rely all on the Star format? AND NUMBER ONE QUESTION THAT HAUNTS? AM I GETTING A CJO ANYTIME SOON? or I should pursue my dedication towards another company? Show More Responses How do I learn more about STAR format? Do you get a email after you submit the long application saying they received it? How long does it take them to contact you after you apply online I am at the beginning stage Hi everyone! I applied online 7/20, VI on 8/18. I was referred by a current FA who used to be a FA manager, he has been with Delta for 28 years. I just received an invitation for F2F on 10/13 and just realized after pulling out my passport that it has my maiden name on it...My F2F is this Friday 10/21 and I am panicked to say the least. I do not have time even to have my passport expedited now so I am thinking if I tell them that I was afraid to apply for a new passport in the event that I would be called in for a F2F and taking my marriage certificate. I am going to apply and have it expedited but am not turning in my old passport. Any thoughts/ideas on this?? Do you wear uniforms during training or are you required to wear your own work clothes? Hello friends! I am just curious as to the time frame of your interview process. I applied 11/11/16, received my invitation for online interview 12/13/16 and submitted on the 15th. How long after submitting your online interview responses did you hear back from Delta? Did you receive your online interview request by email? Yes I received my online interview request by email via HireVue What are some of your strength I just got the email to complete my video interview, can anyone tell me what type of questions I should be prepared for? Thanks in advance! Show More Responses With all the airline interviews whether its Delta or the other major International airline. You have to be yourself and not overthink it . They need you to be upbeat but calm as in any given emergency situation you have to be able to respond to a given situation in a manner that is quick but not panicky. You have to be professionlal in every contact to the passengers and your colleague. Personable and always willing to adapt in any given situation. Flight attendant is one of the best job esp. when you are young and wants to see the world. STAR is the procedures most company adapt but they still will look at how you conduct yourself when you answer the questions they give you. I used to work for Cathay Pacific, Silver jet UK and QANTAS.All of them great companies , have various ways of interviewing but ultimately its about how you treat people in your daily life and how you resolve conflicts. BE truthful and just be Yourself What kind of questions did they ask on the vi interview I want this job so bad I hope my lighting is good I just did my VI but I think I did something wrong. After the 8th question about whether or not i have a visible tattoo which i don't, the next question was if you answered yes to the previous question, please explain. I answered, yes i do not have any visible tattoo, or at least i thought i did, so what's to explain? . Did I actually read it wrong and answer yes i do have a visible tattoo? For the explanation I reiterated that i do not have any visible tattoo but I feel like I messed it up right there. Up to that point it wasn't too bad. I didn't answer one question in the star format. I had a great story to tell but completely forgot and just answered it as what i would do in that case about stealing. I hope I did well but feel like i messed up big time about the tattoo thing. Can anyone who is a flight attendant now or a former flight attendant tell me about how many hours does a flight attendant work in a one week period??? Also for the month, about how many hours can you fly, I heard there is a restriction on how many hours you are allowed to be in the air. Thank you What are the questions they ask you in the phone interview the first one Question What are the digital interview question? So I had my f2f about 14 business days ago, they said to expect an email within 7-10, but I have yet to hear anything back. My delta profile still says “under review”. I’m crazy nervous right now. Does anyone know if it is bad news that I haven’t heard back yet? I got my iv interview after five months I had applied F2F Interview and then herded with other rejects to a waiting bus. Super negative 😟 i have no idea why. Show More Responses So I messed up the first question terribly, I was stuttering because of the terrible connection and lag I had and ended up cussing and than quitting, you think it’s worth it to finish it and hope they got a good laugh and invite me to a f2f interview? I received an email with link for me to schedule video interview to one of Delta crew but when I clicked the link it says no available schedules as it has been filled or something. Does anyone of you have problems like I do? Will they send me another invitation? I’m just getting worried It’s been a month and my video call still shows under review. Awaiting f2f. I am not sure as to what if anything I should do, to move the process along. Hoping they didn’t forget about me. Because I am positive I provided a great virtual Interview, in addition I am relocate from NYC to ATL. I did my phone interview then I received a face to face interview and since that time I haven not received any update about my application so in my status aplication says under review so what can I do because I know many applicants were offered the job and inviting for teje training in Atlanta.
