Editor Interview Questions in Los Angeles, CA

(Not an answer...) But other than that, the only other question I remember specifically would be, "what's your favorite project you've worked on and why?"

I've never been asked but this sure would send up a red flag. I think I'd turn it back on the interviewer and ask them tell me more about the question, e.g., Can you tell me more about the question, e.g., will I work with people in the office who are considered difficult? Maybe you could tell me what you consider to be difficult? I've worked with many different types of people, many different personalities.

Hello, I don't have a solid answer for you, however, I, too, noticed there was no correct answer on that question. Frustrating. Also, the question regarding Chicago Manual Style with the various options on how to write it accordingly, technically had no correct answer either.

I just took Cactus's test and there are several questions where there is no correct answer. Even with those, I am sure I got most questions right. I see a great disparity between the writing on their website and the quality of the test. The test unfair. Perhaps they hired someone else to write their website copy, because it is excellent, but the test is amateurish.

"When I was seven I wanted to drive trains. Around eight I wanted to be an astronaut. At 17 I wanted to be an adult film star. At 72 I wanted to retire." Actually, I just gave them info about my work experience for the last few years.

No one in New Media in LA wants a real answer to this so just say whatever the hot new TV show is.

As a journalist myself, I stated that both writing and editing come with this profession. A journalist must tell a story in an eloquent fashion, a writer's purpose, but they must also assure their piece contains correct grammar, style, and accessibility, an editor's purpose.
