Yes, I have dealt with difficult patients as well as their family members. Often times, one needs to be compassionate when dealing with patients/family because it may be out of fear, not understanding or just frustration with the “process” in accessing their care. Carefully listen to them. Do not interrupt when they speak, make eye contact (if you are with the patient) and always address them with kindness and respect. I find that my tone of voice also may diffuse a hot situation. Overall, we can speak truth with compassion. Thank you
