I chose this type of work because I love people. I also have a mentally ill family member and I feel I can give back to my community to the less fortunate. I have very much compassion for people. I feel that if a patient tried to hit me most of the times there are signs of a patient escalating and showing respect and kindness most of the time will help to calm a person down. I am very active and I do not like to sit for long periods of time. I would like to think I would be spending most of my time helping the patients and making sure they are safe at all times. Less

I gave personal family history that led me to pursue a career in the mental health field. My passion for this profession began in my early teen years as I watched family members and close friends battle mental illness and fight to get their needs met. My educational experience has only fueled my interest in this work. Less
