How will you respond if a customer is being difficult or abusive?

I will be polite and will ask the customer if there is anything I can do to resolve his issue. If he remains abusive, I will refer him/her to my supervisor or simply walk away to avoid a confrontation.

In dealing with customers, especially angry ones, it is important to never exchange arguments. In such situations, I will deescalate tensions by apologizing for the inconvenience, ask questions to identify the problem and provide immediate assistance according to company policies. Will do anything to positively represent the brand.

I wasn't expected to hear the scripted line of what the job pays, but I guess it DID save me all the interview time and other formalities.
