Describe a sales situation where price seemed to be the primary driver and how you overcame the focus on cost and made it more about 'value.' 2 AnswersI focused on the benefits of the product and the additional service that is provided to support them. While we are large enough to give the bast deal we are also small enough to give great customer service. |
Name a time your need to deal with ethical dilemma. 529 AnswersSeems to be the most frequently asked question based on previous postings. Just found out I passed the WCST on Tuesday. Waiting eagerly to hear about a phone interview. Today was the last day to take the exams, so I would assume we will hear beginning next week once they've ranked us. Anyone out there apply for the Large Bank position? I was surprised there's only one location for that one. There were so many for the Small/Community position. Congratulations Betty, I think you are right, phone interviews should be scheduled in the next week and taking place between 10/30-11/3 week( based on comments from past recruiting cycle), and career day should be in the 11/15 week and we can possibly hear the final results before thanksgiving or 1-2 weeks after that. In terms of big banks examiners, I guess they just don’t need that many this cycle. BTW, which districts did you apply? I applied San Francisco and Houston, probably not a good idea (both big cities and not in the same districts). :( Show More Responses Thank you! Congrats to you, too. Fingers crossed you get your top pick. I think I read somewhere that you won't be considered for your 2nd choice if it's from a different district. Is that true? I went Large Bank, so Pittsburgh/Monroeville for me. I already live here, so I'm hoping it's an "unattractive" destination for others. Haha Thank you! I actually want my 2nd pick lol, when I applied I have no idea what I was doing lol. I am not sure if it is true or not that I won’t be considered for my 2nd pick but it might be a good question to ask during career day. I didn’t go large bank because of the location, so your guess might be right.😜 Please keep us posted for your progress. It is said people who passed the tests will at least get a phone interview, sounds like survivor bias to me but it’s time to brush up interview questions! I think it makes sense that they wouldn't allow it. The location you'd be invited to for CED would be different between two different districts. One district wouldn't be able to make an employment decision for another district. With that said, it would be nice if the rules were clearer from the beginning to give people more of a chance. I found some of this process to be arduous... Though I suppose the most difficult parts are still to come. :) I agree with you that you should not be able to make 2 selections across different districts if they are not prepared internally. That is not fair for candidates who are not familiar with the organizational structure of OCC. But one of major requirements of this position is traveling and relocating, so I guess we all need to be prepare to be assigned to where ever we are needed. There are plenty of opportunities to move around when we get in, so I am not to frustrated about it, I will be comfortable where ever as long as my family is happy and opportunity to grow. I agree with you that we have several challenges to overcome in the coming 1 month, try not to over stress it, first of all, there is always a 2nd chance, and secondly, this is just a job application. Hopefully we will have more candidates joining the conversion soon and by then, we should have a better overall picture. Hey guys, I took the exam 10/5 and I found out I passed the WCST on 10/6. They said by 10/20 we will receive a phone call so I am still waiting as well. I started to get nervous for a minute because some time has passed but from this thread it seems as if we are all still waiting for the call haha. Hi, Dc_94, congratulations on passing the test and welcome to the discussion. There is no need to worry, the test deadline was 10/12, and the written portion needs 72 hrs to be graded(although it seems everyone gets their result in one day). So I believe they just got all the results last Friday. Next week they will sort all the application/test result and making list for the phone screening. Brush up your interview skills, it will come before you know it! I also passed the two portions of the assessment although I was concerned that I didn't do the written section well. The knowledge portion was by far the easiest exam I've ever taken. So now I'm anxiously awaiting from them about screening. Interviews have never been my strong point, so I'm a bit worried. This is my only opportunity for work/internships as no other companies invited me to an interview for busy season. So I'm pretty much putting all my eggs into this one basket. There are lots of smaller companies that don't necessarily hire for "busy season" that will provide challenging and rewarding experiences if you don't make it this time around, Chris. There's no shortage of entry-level accounting jobs out there, for sure, and you can always apply again next cycle and have the upper hand. This is a very competitive program, from what I gather of it, but you probably did better than you think. Keep the faith, and good luck!! I took the tests very early in the process, so I have been eagerly awaiting this week to find out about a phone interview. Applied for the small bank position for June 2018 start dates in St. Louis and Indianapolis. I am hoping these are less of a preference for many. Good luck to everyone! Hello everyone, this will be my third time applying for the job. I have gotten all the way to the interview part but did not receive an offer. I hope this time I can get the position. Show More Responses Welcome to the discussion, it is very nice to know that you trying for your 3rd time, keep up the good spirit! I believe we can consider you the most experienced here, could you give us a brief description of your past experience with OCC? The good, the bad and tips and tricks... Much appreciated and hope you can get in with the ideal location you have in mind! Welcome, Chris, Damien04! Please keep us posted if you hear anything about the phone interview. Hello and good luck to everyone. I passed both tests, but I wished I'd have known about the issue with applying across two separate districts. I'm hoping that Cleveland isn't a preferable location for many, but my 2nd (Philadelphia) probably is. This is my first time applying, but I have some banking experience which I hope might help. I actually live in Pittsburgh as well, so I'm crossing my fingers for that one, although there are not many vacancies from what I understand. I'm glad to see a fellow 'Burgher among the ranks. Did you apply for both Mid and Large, RS403? I didn't know you COULD apply for both at the time, so I didn't. Though if I had known, the salaries in only cities I would leave PGH for wouldn't allow me to survive in them (NYC, San Fran, Boston)! I have experience, too, and taking a pay cut for this position is doable here, but feels impossible in most other cities because COL is so high. I just don't know how you get in, otherwise. I have 6 yrs of experience, but my application for a Level/Pay Band V position was rejected almost immediately. Welcome, RS403! Hello, Betty7, it looks like to me that you get in as a NB III, in 1 year, your got promoted to IV and 1 year after that, when you pass the exam and get commissioned, you get your NB V. So it is impossible for external applicants to apply for V as you would need to pass the exam, which is only offered internally. That does seem to be the case, Aurther. I've been watching for almost a year and have never seen a level IV position offered. So start at the beginning or you have to get commissioned somewhere else (FRB, FDIC, etc). The ad said being commissioned wasn't required, but I'm sure commissioned candidates are given preference!! Betty7, I think you should have better prospects at Band IV than most applicants with your level of experience. I only have 1.5 years out of college and I believe that I'm up against far more experienced candidates for III. Are any of you aware of individuals that have gotten hired either directly from school, or less than 2 years out? I do see your point on COL. One of the things that attracted me to the 'Burgh was its low COL, but unfortunately that means that salaries are lower as well. This position would represent about a 25% increase from where I stand now, but that might not mean much in Philly - definitely not in NYC! RS403, if you look through all the posts on glassdoor, you will notice several posts mentioned that they applied through school, which could mean they don't have experience, yet they still got the position. Don't talk yourself down, present yourself well and that is all you need, I don't see a point of considering how good/bad other candidates are. Hi everyone, please update if you got a call or email to set up a phone interview. If not, I believe it is safe now to call it a day and assume nobody got any news from OCC so far. Be sure to post your district if you hear, either way. Also, if your status changes on USAJobs, let us know that, too!! Show More Responses Does anyone know if calls for phone interviews go out exactly on the 20th? I just emailed Recruitment yesterday and they said if selected for phone interview then I would get a call before the end of October. Getting antsy! & in reference to the above question---because the email that I got for passing the written portion indicated before Oct 20th Hello, JM! Thanks for busting the silence here! LOL, I am anxiously waiting too. Unfortunately, I do not have prior experience for the recruiting cycle, but I believe they will set up a time with you first for a future time in terms of phone interview instead of cold calling people and goes into interview immediately. I have not received any calls from OCC yet, let us be patient and have faith team! BTW, if anyone got calls from OCC, please do share with us, thanks! I believe Oct 20 is the deadline they will set up phone interviews with "in the run" candidates. Hey, everyone! I passed my knowledge test on October 11th and found out that I had passed the written test on the 13th. I'm impatiently waiting to see if I will be moving forward in the hiring process. This is my dream post-college gig! I listed the Philadelphia office as my first choice location, and the San Francisco office as my second choice location. Good luck to everyone involved in this round of hiring! I'll provide an update when I receive any new information. Will I be rejected because of a recent collection on my credit report if I receive an offer? (debt has been paid) Good luck to you too, PhillyExplorer, welcome to the discussion. Looks like we are all nervous at this time, but based on the past posts, wait until after Career Exploration Day folks, anxious gauge will probably go through the roof, LOL. Hi, Mac, that is a good question but I am afraid that is the question only OCC HR can answer and I will probably NOT bring it up until the career day when they have experts in that subject on site and ask in private, but that is just my suggestions. I hear it, Aurthur. I interviewed with the Fed in NYC in May and it was July before they got back to me with a rejection. I've barely come down from "red alert" from that. I'm not emotionally prepared for a long wait on this! Haha! That's a good question, Mac. I know from previous posts that they do pull credit, but I have no idea what the criteria for "acceptable" credit are. Hi, Betty, how are you doing? It already past 5PM there on the east coast so I guess it is safe for you to call it a day and go home, kick off your shoes and put a movie on. It will be a torture to us as the career day will be around Thanksgiving and waiting for some news for such a long holiday is not going to be fun, maybe it will be a good time to take some part time jobs during that time frame to switch focus a little. Fed is really difficult to get in as far as I know, last time I checked the employee profiles on their website, most of them have a PhD in economics...And Fed does not even use the USAJOBS channel to accept the applications, that just tells me how cocky they are LOL, so don't beat yourself up too much. It seems nobody got called so far, that is a good sign to me.. Show More Responses Well... The Federal Reserve is gov't affiliated, but they aren't a gov't agency. I'm pretty sure they can't use the USAJobs portal. I'm good, otherwise. Just impatient. You? Here's to hearing something tomorrow! Still Waiting.. LOL. I'm glad to know we are all in the same boat though, makes me feel a little less crazy ! Today is the 19th and we still didn't hear anything, this is weird considering on the previous two times I have applied for the position, the employee from OCC called me promptly to have the phone interview Well at least we are ALL in the same boat. I'd be crushed if you all had heard and I didn't. 😎 Did they cold-call you on the spot for the phone interview without setting up a time? Not need to worry team, as long as none of us got any calls so far. Keep faith up, finish the book you are reading, continue working hard at your job, spend time with your family. Once the wheels start spinning, we won’t have much time for those. I’m 1000000000% sure that they email you with directions on how to schedule the phone interview, if you get selected for the phone screening. They don’t call to set that up. Looks like they're bringing it right down to the wire....... Almost 5 p.m. on the east coast. looks like we'll hear tomorrow Well, hopefully this is the last day of compulsively checking the phone for an email or call. Good luck, everyone!! too late. i've already lost my mind. it is no more Show More Responses Hey guys! Just saw that my status on my application changed from "received" to "reviewed" and it says I met the minimum qualifications! No email yet though! Anyone else? No status change, but I got my email. My phone interview is Monday. 😁 i applied for the large bank and midsize bank positions... rejected on large bank, still waiting to hear on midsize. I suspect if i'm rejected on one i will be on the other too, but we'll see. Just received the email for phone interview! Congratulations!! Nothing for me yet...patient patient... Has anyone heard from south or western district yet? i applied to southern and western. nothing yet I only applied to Western and nothing yet :/ Last year I applied to Southern & Eastern, they seem to be quicker about the process.. From what I read in the previous forum, Southern district tends to take longer during the application process. Still waiting, but starting to freak out! My status on USAJobs still says "received", I haven't received any form of communication yet, and it's 1:47PM here on the East Coast. I applied to the Eastern (Philadelphia) and Western (San Francisco) regions. I'll try to stay sane for the rest of the day! Hi all, Ive been watching this chain for the past week..I just received the email to interview next Wednesday for Large banks ...my status for that app also changed to "reviewed". My app status for small to mid is unchanged. I applied last minute..took the exams the last day. Im in Rochester but want to get out of WNY...my background is in mortgage banking and Roc has no more plentiful opportunities like it used to with an underwriting background so why not Congratulations, team! Just got my email for Large Banks, but no status change for MCBS. Just hang tight. :) Show More Responses UPDATE: I received my phone-screening interview email shortly after 3:00PM! I will be interviewing with the Philadelphia office. Good luck to everyone else! I'll be back when I find out how I did on the phone interview. UPDATE: Hi, team, I got my interview email just now (12:40 San Francisco time) for next Tuesday! Looks like western district is sending out invites now. Anyone else apply for Santa Ana & LA? Congrats to everyone who has gotten a phone interview, I applied to Central, for the Midsized and Community, haven't heard anything, and the status is still received. Are they gonna send email to tell you if you are NOT selected to have the interview? Has anyone heard from the central region? I haven’t heard anything from them for small banks. My large bank application says reviewed and I met minimum qualifications but no email yet. Actually just got the email to schedule phone interview from large bank I believe. Still waiting to here from central region for small banks good luck to everyone waiting! Still waiting on Central as well. Slowly but surely losing my mind! Has anyone been contacted about their phone interview yet? From the email I received after passing my exams, we would hear something no later than today. My application status says reviewed & I met the qualifications but no email :/ 8PM here on the east coast. Show More Responses I just received an email today for scheduling the phone-screening interview. I applied for the Central district for Community/Mid-sized banks. As of 11:16 PM, I received an email to schedule to Midsize bank phone screening for the central, just letting you all know. I assumed that I would receive an email telling me that I either did or did not manage to get an interview. Maybe I'm wrong, but that seemed to be the idea. As of Saturday morning now, I have yet to get anything, and my application still shows a "Received" status. I suppose this just means that I wasn't accepted which I pretty much assumed would happen from the start, but it would be nice to hear that from them directly rather than guessing. Mine says “reviewed”. Not sure what that means in this process. I was losing hope, but received an email this morning for a phone interview. I hope everyone else has heard back by now. Btw, I applied for the Midwest region. anyone else get an incomplete? It says not further for consideration, guessing I didn't make it... I applied for both a large bank position (Pittsburgh) and also a MCBS position. I was emailed Friday for an interview that seems to be from the large bank division, but have not heard anything from the MCBS. Is it possible this one interview will encompass both? Since it is Saturday afternoon, should I assume that I am NOT going to be interviewed for the MCBS position? I finished scheduling my phone interview for this Wednesday for the West Coast region. I'm pretty nervous about it as I'm trying to recruit for a job after I graduate this May. Anyone have any experience with the phone interview and what kind of questions do they ask? Alright, here we go! It's real now! I actually just got my email inviting me to my screening for MCBS on Wednesday (I honestly don't remember/know what that stands for). This was a lot later than I expected, but I'm very excited to still be in the running. Good luck to everyone else! Update: Got the email last night around 10PM to interview with the Cincinnati Office! Show More Responses Has anyone heard anything for MCSB Pittsburgh location? Hey everyone! When I applied I listed my top choices as the Philadelphia office and the New York office but it looks like the employees who are setting up the screening interview are from the Pittsburgh office. Did I mess up or can you still get scheduled for interviews from offices that weren't your top two choices? @Oats - You can review the 162 other interviews on this website to get an idea of what they will ask. From what I understand, both the phone and in-person interviews are 99% behavioral questions. @Anon - I didn't think there was a Pittsburgh location for MCBS, just LBS? I'm gonna kick myself if I missed out on doubling my odds of getting an OCC job without moving. Lol @Ben - I wouldn't sweat it. It seems they're behind the 8 ball this cycle. Pittsburgh might just be helping out to get everyone scheduled ASAP. The person doing your interview and their location has nothing to do with the location you applied. I just got my email as of 11:00 am there's still hope if you didn't receive one yet! I was told that if you applied for both large and midsize you still only have one phone interview, and that will encompass both. I passed the OCC written test and I was suppose to receive a notification by Oct 20. I have not received an email at all. Any thoughts? Had my phone interview for LBS. Was exactly as expected. Lasted about a half hour, give or take. She said that CED for LBS will be in Chicago this year. I love Chicago, so let's hope I get to see it. Let the anxiety begin!! 😬 Congratulations, Betty7! Sounds like you nailed it!! Could you share with us a little bit of the questions the interviewer asked? Also, What date the CED might be and when do you expect to hear anything back for the CED? Again, good job! Looks like the research and practice do pay off. Just had my phone interview for MCBS! We actually went a little bit over since the call took about 48 minutes. I don't think I did so well (I'm very sick, so my voice isn't all the way there), but I'm still hopeful. She did ask a lot of follow-up questions and seemed interested in my answers! She also told me to get well, so at least she realized that I'm sick. I was told that CED for the Northeast region will be the week of November 13th, and that we'll know something by November 9th. I'm going to take a break from this site to avoid becoming overly anxious in anticipation, but I really hope to see some of you in NYC on the week of November 13th! Show More Responses Thanks for all the information, PhillyExplorer! Hope you get better soon, time to get ready for the CED I guess. Still nervous about tomorrow myself lol, please share with us about the questions interviewer asked or anything you think worth mentioning. My interview is 4:00 PM at interviewer's time so I don't want to keep her for too long and she probably wants it over sooner as well... Interviewer asked STAR questions we've all seen: Difficult team member, a time you went above and beyond, a time you had to deal with change, etc. Also asked a few other random questions about willingness to travel, what you expect to get out of the experience, etc. Literally nothing I wasn't expecting. I forgot to ask when we'd hear back. That was silly of me, but I was kind of keyed up. 😁 CED will be a 1/2 day meet n' greet with Execs and EICs followed by the panel interview. scheduled for phone interview on wednesday. i think i screwed the pooch since i submitted an lbs application for pitt and mc for a station in the western district and another one in the southern district. based on what i've read in this thread and last years thread, will they just ignore my 2nd and 3rd choice and leave me only with pitt? -failson: Yes, you will be considered for the lBS only unless there is a shortage of recommended candidates for your 2nd choice. The 3rd choice is almost guaranteed to be ignored unless something else happens or your 2nd and 3rd choices don't have enough candidates that applied -PhillyExplorer and everyone else: The CED will be in the headquarter office of NYC on 340 Madison Ave. OCC will be placing you in a 4 star hotel near time square, most likely a Sheraton for the night before the interview. After the interview is done they will take you in for fingerprints and a small chat from other assistant national bank examiners. After that you will get a call back after one week to notify you that you have gotten an offer or send you an email 2-3 weeks later for rejection. well thank you for confirming my suspicions. i may as well apply next round to multiple cities in the same region =/ @Aurther of this post I can't guarantee that you'll get the same questions, but I suggest thinking about your answers to why you chose the OCC/why are you interested in finance and banking, times you've worked in difficult groups, and times when your actions made a positive impact. The willingness to travel and relocate questions are pretty self-explanatory. Hope that helps a little! To the anonymous poster: will the OCC put me in a hotel if I live in Philly? Also, will they put me on Amtrak instead of flying me into JFK due to the relatively short distance between the cities? Thanks for that big slice of helpful information! ^That last post was mine, btw! I forgot to add a name to it haha Congrats to all of you. I didn’t pass the WSCT.... and I was so shocked beyond belief. I definitely did not expect that. How did you guys write your assessments? I didn’t think I was not concise. Any tips? (For next time!) We can't share anything regarding the exam as agreed in the terms upon taking the exam. I'd say read the guidelines they provide on the cover page of the written exam. Show More Responses Good luck to you today, Aurther. Let us know how it goes! Just had my MCBS phone interview for central, it went a bit over, which I hope is good, we talked about a lot of behavioral situation, do work above and beyond, handle change, etc. Chatted a bit about international travel experience, told me a lot about the training period and what I would expect. Said I would hear back at latest by 11/9/17. Does it sound like it went well to you all? Hope everyone else is having good impressions from the phone interviews. I just had my phone interview too, I don't know how it went but I felt it was decent. Mine lasted about 25 minutes for MCBS. Does anyone know how many positions are available in Central? Hi, team, I have finished my interview, I think I did OK... I was asked about 4 behavior questions, and they all have been covered in the past posts, so preparation is key and don't forget to answer in the STAR format. Other than that, we talked a little bit about my past experience, and the travel and relocation related to this position. The lady who did the interview with me was nice. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. Just like everyone has been informed so far, CED is gonna be in the week of Nov. 13 and we shall hear something by 9th. I need to relax a little bit now and catch up with my work and school before the big day comes... Not sure if I missed anything, if you have any questions, please ask and I can see if I can relate. Thanks everyone for your support, great team here and good luck to everyone!! i think i did extremely good in this interview. i don't believe i made the cut for lbs (pitt) but my interviewer said that if i pass the CED for western district is in denver since i applied for iowa. so based on these answers it looks like each region's CED will be located at their central office: Eastern: NYC Western: Denver, CO Midwest: Chicago South: Dallas hopefully this should clarify everything for some people since i was confused at first. good luck to everyone I want to revise that - Eastern - NYC Western - Denver Midwest & LBS only - Chicago South - Dallas Both MCBS & LBS - ??? (Has previously been in D.C.) betty you might be correct but if i am not mistaken was pitt the only lbs location in this recruiting round? How can I know if the interview went very well or not? Would the interviewer comment on it at the end if it was good? Yes, you are right. PGH was the only location for LBS, which is what I applied for. The interviewer told me LBS CED is in Chicago. Show More Responses It's likely if you are interviewing for *both* MCBS and LBS (regardless of what district your MCBS spot is) that it's in Chicago, too, I just can't confirm because I didn't submit a MCBS application. >It's likely if you are interviewing for *both* MCBS and LBS (regardless of what district your MCBS spot is) that it's in Chicago, too, I just can't confirm because I didn't submit a MCBS application. that seems reasonable to assume. i feel like i should've cleared that up with my interviewer I was told that for sure if that you are selected for both midsize and large the career exploration day will be in Chicago. Also I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into how long your phone interview was. Mine was almost a hour but my interviewer dominated the conversation so I do not think it went that well. Is today the last day of phone interviews? No it's not mine is tomorrow. The last day for interview should be tomorrow because in the interview email it stated that if the proposed time for the interview is not convenient for you, you can suggest another time but it must be before 10/26 COB, which is tomorrow. I think it is important to look back (if you have done the interview) and review the notes to see what you did well and what you kind of stumbled then make improvement, after all, it's all about the CED interview and phone interview is a good practice. It's a good idea to sort of reverse-engineering and try to figure out what OCC is thinking but overdoing it is probably not a good idea. I would suggest take all the present and past comments, what your friends and neighbors said into consideration, but always only take OCC website and direct communication with OCC as the only valid resources. It's really nice to see so many of us advanced this far, don't forget why and how you started and keep on fighting! Hi guys, I had my interview today, and I was wondering a few things. First, if you were to live 7 hours away from your CED location, would the OCC pay for your flight and hotel? Second, I think I did fairly decent with my phone interview, and I was wondering how everyone else is feeling? Good luck to all of you! Yes they pay. However, sometimes the hotel is paid through reimbursement. but if its reimbursement, one always has the option of just doing airbnb in chicago right? I had my interview this morning, it went well. My interviewer was great, answered all my questions. There was nothing that participating in this forum did not cover or help me prepare for. I am being considered for LBS although I applied for both LBS and MCBS (I assume because of my background). Show More Responses Failson, the travel for CEW is centrally booked by the OCC. They'll simply tell you where you are staying Congrats Shar. So your interviewer told you that you are considered for LBS? My app status never changed, still received. Anyone’s the same? I don't consider myself an expert when it comes to USAJOBS.GOV applications, but I did apply for about 30 openings so far and from my personal experience, the status is NOT a good indicator of anything except the "received" you got initially. The best indicators for this position is following: 1. Test Invitation Email (you application is received correctly) 2. Phone Screen Interview Email(you passed the test and have met the minimum requirement) 3. CED invitation email (you passed the screen interview) 4. Offer Call! (you passed everything! Well, I am not sure if they're gonna call or email, but from past post, seems like it's going to be a call) I got about 5 applications in USAJOBS that are referred, 3 showing reviewed and 9 showing received. They don't make a difference to me. In terms of traveling, from the past post, OCC will book your ticket to the CED (airplane or train), so no worry there. But when it comes to hotel, it's a mix bag. It seems in the past that OCC only made reservation for the hotel but did NOT pay upfront. On CED you fill in a reimbursement form for that cost. It could be some time before you get reimbursed, so it's probably a good idea to set aside some money to cover that. The occ pays 100% of your transportation and lodging for CED. They reimburse you for meals and per say you had to leave your car at the airport garage. Thank you Author for the explanation. I just received an email stating that I did not qualify for LBS yet they confirmed that I did a phone interview for MCBS. The only confusing part is that they said I'll get a response by Nov 17th regarding the status of my MCBS application. This kinda contradicts what's been stated in this whole thread since CED is on the week of Nov 13th. This means I'm not in the running for my first office choice but nothing else. ^Aurther I meant. -PhillyExplorer and Everyone else: When chosen for the CED, Occ will ask you to choose how would you like to travel to the field office to have the interview. There are three options to choose from: 1. Drive your own vehicle. OCC will pay at a flat rate in regards to how many miles you have reported for traveling to the office and back home. 2. Flight tickets will be issued to you if you choose to fly, you have to submit your location and the preference to travel either in morning, afternoon or night time. OCC then will book the flight for you. 3. Amtrak. If you live closer to the filed office for CED and choose not to take the flight, a preference of taking the train will be available to you. Same procedure with above, you have to submit your location and the preference to travel either in morning, afternoon or night time. OCC then will book the Amtrak for you. For all methods of traveling listed above, reimbursement for taxi is provided. For example even if you choose to drive to the filed office location and stayed in a hotel the night before, you can still call a cab to arrive at the field office the next morning and not have to worry about where to park your vehicle. Meals will not be reimbursed, so keep that in mind. Show More Responses Anybody knows if they check with the supervisors you listed on the resume? I did not quite get long with one of my previous boss but I listed her as it seems to be a requirement when you fill in the resume through USAJOBS. If same questions from screen interview were to ask on CED, will you answer with the same example for behavioral questions? What is your opinion? Absolutely. I've already been over and over and over my responses. I've picked the best anecdotal stories I can come up with in the six years I've been an auditor. An in person setting will afford a little more time and opportunity to expound on those stories, so as to answer the questions more completely and give the interviewer more of a clear picture. I wouldn't try to come up with a second explanation that doesn't answer the question as well, just for the sake of having a "new" response. I was just invited via email to CED in Chicago on the 15th! Good luck everyone. Get ready for your emails! Hi. Had my phone interview. Was curious if anyone knew how long you're away for CED since it's in the middle of the week?? I applied for southern district so I'd be going to Dallas. @JM - The entire event is 3 days (13th-15th), but the part you have to be at is 1/2 a day. How long you are actually in the city will entirely depend on what you coordinate with the scheduler, and how far away you are from your headquarters. Congratulations, Betty7!! Great news! Refreshing my mailbox every 5 mins. 😂😂 *Update: just got my invitation to Denver for CED ! It’s gonna to Nov. 16th for me.😊 Congrats Betty7 and Betty7! Hope you both nail it! Still waiting on mine for Central, were yours for MCBS or LBS? Thank you. I'm LBS. Aurther is MCBS Western, I believe. Show More Responses Sorry, Betty7 and Aurther Congrats, Betty and Aurther! I guess the Western District is starting to send out invites. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Northeast. Best of luck to you two! Hi, team, I am applying for MCBS. Wish you all good luck!! Got the invitation for CED in Chicago on 11/15. Good luck to all! Is anyone familiar with the travel process? My CED begins at 7:30 A.M. on a Wednesday, I assume they would fly me out the night before? My flight would only be about 1 our, but is a 5 hour drive. Just received an email inviting me to CED November 14, 2017 in Denver! Good luck to you all :) I just received my invitation for the CED in New York for the Northeast hell yes got invited for CED on 11/15 in denver. i was panicking because i thought the invitation email was a phishing scam so i checked the original headers and ssl certs and everything looked fine i guess. good luck to all of you! Just got my CED in New York for the 14th, did anyone get their CED on the 13th? I'm trying to figure out if they are doing CED from 13-15 or 14-16 for the northeast Has anyone heard (or not heard) about CED in Chicago for MCBS? I just received my invitation for CED in New York on the 15th. So I believe it’s the 13-15. Show More Responses Invitation for CED in Chicago, on the 16th! LBS or MCBS? NYC on the 14th here. I applied for LBS and MCBS. Does anyone know if they're in the running for both or one or the other? Received invite for Chicago on the 14th. Am I the only person that found it extremely strange that they requested that we elect a cell phone carrier. I've been a federal employee for quite awhile, and have moved a few times across agencies, and found that quite strange. Anyway, see you NYC peeps Nov 14th :) They provide you with a cell phone. It will be a Washington DC based line. You can pick AT&T or Verizon, or you can use your personal number and it'll be subsidized some. does anyone know what they mean by 'departure address'? do they mean your home address and the time it takes to reach your preferred airport? Found out I will be in Denver on 11/15 for the western district CED. Who else from here will be there on that day? Congrats to everyone Got an invite to CED on Nov 14th in Chicago. I saw that someone else had a CED on the 16th in Chicago. Are the dates random, or is there a certain reason some people go to an earlier CED? Also, how many people usually get invited to one of these? It seems like almost everyone here who got a phone interview got an invite. Show More Responses It does seem most have gone on to the next round and it is exciting but in all honesty I do have reservations about moving twice long distance in a 6 mos period and the logistics of that as a single person. (After hire travel is no problem). General high turnover of the position seems apparent, something I ordinarily treat as a flag when job hunting. Did anyone who did their phone interview with the Philly office get invited to CED? Anyone have any knowledge of the day that you were given for CED having any meaning, or just being random? I am not sure if the dates mean anything, maybe OCC HR knows. In my opinion, team, everyone has his or her equal shot at this point at CED. OCC is paying for everything for us to go there and experience their culture and opportunities, so I appreciate their gesture and efforts and of cause the money. I am not worrying about who is in front of me, behind me, with me for the CED, I am not worried even if Alan Greenspan is in my group at that day. It’s all about you now, sharp up everything for CED and you will be fine. BTW, I am really excited to see Denver(never been there). Good luck, folks! this is probably speculation but i would gather turnover is a function of the ratio of travel (ie the share of travel in excess of 50 miles so your put into a hotel vs regular vehicle travel to client sites) and the general office culture. i would also imagine office culture plays a crucial role in this. Well, guys, I didn't make it this time. I received my rejection email about two hours ago. I suppose that's what I get for trying to do the interview while extremely sick. Oh well, I guess I'll apply again in January. Congrats to everyone who was invited to CED! I will no longer comment since I'm out of this recruiting cycle's round, but I will likely continue to watch and see how some of the posters that I recognize advance in the process. -PhillyExplorer: Best of luck to you, just remember there are people who applied 3-4 times to OCC to get an offer. See you in the next round of recruiting cycle. Just found out about this thread. I applied early in October and took my test Oct 11. Found out I passed the following week and had my phone interview the following week. Got a call Oct 31 that I got invited to CED. My CED will be between Nov 13-15 in Dallas. Does anyone know what to expect? Type of questions they will ask? @PhillyExplorer, please come back and check the feedbacks everyone got from CED and I am sure with all the experience you have now, you will be much better prepared for the next cycle (which is right around the corner after holiday season). Compare with other government agencies, OCC has a much faster pace when it comes to recruiting. Good luck!! Hi. Does anyone remember what they said the start date would be for the position? I have my Interview the 14th, but I am trying to plan a trip during the end of December and beginning of January. Thanks guys!! Show More Responses This may be a stupid question, but since they are flying me down and putting me up in a hotel, I assume I am in charge of finding my own taxi to the building. based on what they sent in the invitational email the instructions say that flight and hotel costs are billed directly to the OCC (ie theyre paying for it) and i think you can get reimbursed for taxi expenses from your hotel to the office and other expenses. I made it to CED in Dallas back in April and I was reimbursed for my mileage to and from the airport, parking, and my Lyft to the interview and back to the airport. I didn’t eat anything that day, but I assume that they would have reimbursed me for that as well. According to OCC we don't get reimbursed for meals. Just airfare, mileage, hotel, and transportation to and from airport & hotel. Any idea on if they’re still sending invites to CED? CED invites are done How do you know they're done? And do you mean for a specific region or all regions? I was told CED invites or rejections would be sent out at latest by November 9th, but this was from my phone interview for MCBS in Central. I haven’t heard back either way. Is the hotel usually pretty close to the office where CED will take place? Has anyone in the Southern District received an invitation/rejection yet? Show More Responses Also, if they do reject you, do they email you or just leave you guessing? @Tobo- Some people in this thread have already received rejection emails so I assume everyone will get an email at somepoint They will tell you by November 9th for sure. In the meantime, as long as you haven’t received the rejection email, you shouldn’t give up hope, my 2 c. Do you have to put in a specific request for a hotel? If I'm 70 miles away will I qualify? I flew in and out the same day when I went to Dallas. I’m not sure what circumstances constitute getting a hotel room. My flight is in and out of Denver on the same day. I think that your travel preferences (departing morning, afternoon, or evening) that you selected in your candidate profile determine whether or not you get a hotel. I chose morning, so of course the least expensive thing for them to do is avoid a night in a hotel. Makes sense to me. Does anyone know how long CED will last? KCx - what else did they tell you when they sent your itinerary? I'm thinking I may also get flights on the same day since my time is 12:30 and I was curious as to how that will go down. Also, I believe it's 4 hours. Anon, that was all unfortunately. 2 flight numbers. What are the chances that they send out invites/rejections today. I’m tired of flapping in the wind, i would enjoy my weekend much more if I know what’s going on. I'd say 50/50. Acceptance of the invitation to CED was due by noon today. If people don't accept, it seems reasonable that they'd start going down the line inviting the next most qualified candidates. Good luck!! Show More Responses Curious, is everyone applying for the January start date? Yes, I beliece this is what's going on. That is why until the 9th, as long as no rejection letter yet, there is still chance to be invited. I'm LBS... June start. I applied for NY. June start date. I haven't received anything yet regarding the CED. No acceptance or rejection yet. Everyone with CED invite got their travel info yet? I have accepted the invite to NY on 14th but did not get any travel accommodation yet. NYC on the 14th also, haven't heard about travel accommodations yet CED invites are finished, if u didn't get it then you aren't invited, at least for the northeast region it is true How do you know that? A friend of a friends brothers girlfriend read it somewhere and told them so. lulz Show More Responses Well, since we are all waiting anxiously, which offices did everyone apply for?! I'll see some of you guys in Chicago on the 16th. I won't receive housing or transportation since I live less than 10 miles from the Chicago Central District office. Does anyone know how roughly long CED is? My begin time and departure time are only about 6 hours apart Depends. Afternoon is from 12:30-4pm I emailed my interviewer, because I thought the same thing - my flight home was too early. She said that they made some changes to the campaign this time around and that the whole thing is only about 2-2.5 hrs. Hope that helps. Anybody receive a recent invitation/rejection to the CED (within the past few days)? I'm still waiting for an email in general regarding CED. Haven't received an invite OR rejection for southern district. I was told i would hear back by Nov. 9. What time is your return flight? My session begins at 7:30 and my return flight is about 1:30. Seems like this may be too early. For those staying in a hotel, what do you plan on doing with your bag while at the interview? I assume we will have to check out of our rooms before hand. I'm going to pack light, but i will have that one bag with me and I don't know what to do with it. Didn't stay in a hotel last time but I had a backpack and they had a storage room, this was NYC office 7:30+2.5 hrs = 10am. That's *plenty* of time to make a 1:30 flight. The hotel they put me in is about 3 blocks from the event. I am leaving my bag with the front desk of the hotel after I check out. If you don't feel comfortable asking them to hold it, just bring it. Lots of people will be doing the same thing. Show More Responses As stated, you can leave your bag with the front desk at the hotel or you can bring it with you. They will have a closet/storage area for your bag(s) at your interview location. Has everyone received their travel details? I am still awaiting mine. I haven’t received my itinerary neither. I received my itinerary on Monday (11/6). My CED is in Chicago on the 14th though so itineraries might come later for later CEDs. Received mine today. If you haven’t received it, you may contact them to find out. Do they send a rejection email or is it just an acceptance email for ced? I'm new to the thread, and concur with timelines above. I've heard the time from CED to offer can be 2-3 weeks (yikes). It's been a long two+months of anxiety for me! I'm headed to Denver for CED next week as well. I have less than 10 years in finance industry, zero experience in public sector. I always had great experiences working with OCC Examiners in the past, so I'm excited to finally bite the bullet and go after this position. It's definitely a pay cut (initially), but I'm intrigued by the numerous career paths and specialties available. Best of luck to you all! Has anyone received their itinerary for NYC? No, I’m still waiting for my itinerary. My CED is in NYC also. I'm confused at why I haven't received an acceptance or rejection email regarding CED Show More Responses ^ Same here. I thought they were supposed to send SOMETHING by Nov. 9 They are still working on the itinerary for the CED in NYC. People still waiting to hear back from NYC? I am still waiting to hear back from NYC I’m still waiting on Dallas. Would’ve been nice if they had sent a rejection letter so I could’ve moved on weeks ago. USAJobs still shows ‘reviewed’. Guess they forgot about me I finally received my itinerary for CED in NYC! I wonder if every district sends rejection emails or does NYC just leave you hanging? If your flight will arrive about 3 to 4 hours before my interview starting time, how would you spend the time? Can we report to the office earlier than scheduled and wait there? Anyone still waiting on an itinerary for NYC? Not sure if they're going to give me assistance on my hotel so I emailed again I am still waiting for any sort of reply from them. Hopefully hear from them soon. I did not receive an acceptance or rejection email yet Show More Responses ^ same. No rejection or invitation from Dallas. (Pretty annoying) Those who are wondering if being left hanging is specific to a region, I haven't heard anything from about Chicago for MCBS. I'll be trying again next time around, but it's fairly annoying that I haven't heard anything Does anyone know what kind of questions they ask at the CED interview? Looking back at older Glassdoor posts, it seems the questions are very similar to the phone interview questions in any given hiring quarter, but the questions seem to differ from quarter to quarter. Someone who's been to CED before - does this sound right to you? Should I just be refining the answers I gave during the phone interview? I will be in Colorado on the day of the 14th but my interview isn’t until the 15th. Does anyone else have a schedule similar to this? I’m kind of wondering what I should do the entire day of the 14th. Dx, I'm in the same situation. I get flown out to Chicago on the 13, stay in a nice hotel, then have CED on the 14th. I'd just enjoy the city you're in, prep your interview answers in the hotel, and just relax. Anyone else still left in the dark about CED? Getting pretty frustrated. My interview is on Tuesday and I still didn't get my hotel arranged. I'm booking my own hotel for this Dx, same situation. I might go sightseeing since I'll get to my hotel at 12 and then probably sleep at 7. Not sure at what time you'll check into your hotel I also didn’t get my hotel arranged, I called and emailed multiple times. I booked my own, hopefully they will reimburse me. I still haven't got an itinerary and I'm not sure if they've booked a flight for me? Im in ohio and I'm supposed to be in NYC wednesday.... Show More Responses Guys!!!!!! Check your emails. The person in charge of traveling for the northeast have replied just now!!! Cancel ur hotels if you can!! They won't pay u for hotel if u booked ur own For those who are freaking out because they haven't heard anything. I emailed my phone interviewer and he was surprised nothing is being sent. He is asking around to figure out what is going on. What's so sad is the person claiming not to have heard anything and getting everyone in an uproar is most likely the same troll that was on the previous feed of over 700 comments and they are here on this feed again because they haven't ever been invited to CED or was invited and got turned down they are sick enough to create confusion and make everyone life miserable because they are miserable! I'm certain that OCC is competent enough to notify it's candidates! So don't believe the hype of this one troll that posted several of the same comments making it seem like there are several people that haven't received information-sick! Saw some of u guys today at the interview but none of you said hi Anyone have trouble checking in their hotel? Might be a dumb question but who makes the hiring decision? Is it the interviewers or the district offices you applied for? How's everyone's interview? The northeast ones should be all done by today My interview went great. PNC's Examiners that lead my interview were a delight. The presentation about the program was super informative. The initial phone interviewer said all offers for LBS would be made before Thanksgiving. FYI - they are hiring four people into Pittsburgh's LBS. Relieved it's over, and I am cautiously optimistic. Off to the airport! How many are interviewed for these four positions? More than 20 Show More Responses Hello, Betty, it’s great to know that your interview went well! I am stuck in SFO now because my plane is delayed, I wish I am in the position now I can be relieved too. Lol Hope everyone had great experience at CED so far and wish everyone best luck for tomorrow! Good luck to you, Aurther. You're prepared. As expected, it was exactly like the phone interview, just in person and different questions. My interview was 2:1, and the two gentlemen just took turns asking behavioral questions. Literally nothing that wasn't covered in this forum. I didn't ask the total number of candidates, but if I had to guess, I would say there were probably just over 20. Given that there were only 2 people in my group, and presumably groups at 8, 10, 12, and 2 for three days. MCBS was much larger. There were at least 5 candidates in the group that was at the same time as me. Is there any way of knowing how many positions there are for MCBS for the Northeast? Also, I thought CED was 14-16? Or was it only 2 days in NYC? It's only 2 days for northeast Hello! I applied for the MCBS Position for the Southern district with the preferred start date in June. I have yet to receive an e-mail regarding a CED invite for the specified visit. A few minutes ago, I called and left a voicemail for my interviewer regarding my concerns. I am hoping to hear something back. Until then, I will remain positive and keep praying for the CED Invite for the Southern District. Good luck to Everyone!!! Anyone know how many examiners the central office typically hires per location? Sorry to break it to you but the CED are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday of this week, if you were not invited then you are not invited and have to apply again next time Do you guys know how to submit reimbursement for food? I'm pretty sure they don't reimburse you for food Hello, team, I am done with interview about 2 hrs ago, sitting in the airport, very tired. The overall experience I had was very good, although I was asked a lot of questions during the interview, I think I got 10 at least in total, and about 7-8 were behavior questions. But like Betty said, there were no surprises on the questions , it just strikes me that I thought it was going to be like the phone interview for about 4-5 behavior questions. Anyways, great relief, I did the best I could for sure. Wish everyone gets the offer call starting next week! Show More Responses Truth to be told, if you are on the second day and even the third day of CED, chances are you are very unlikely to get selected. Your CED date as well as the group you been put in is designed specifically in mind with your overall score from the written test/multiple choice test and your phone interview. The best ones were to put on the first group on the first day, meaning they are the first ones get interviewed. It also means that if you do qualify for the job they will be considered before the candidates in the later groups or even in the later days. Keep in mind there are 4 groups per day and each group consists of 14-18 people. Considering the fact that each field office only hires 3-5 people, you can do the math yourself. Does it matter? Even if it’s the case, how many here would still go to CED if they are placed on 2nd or 3rd day? I know I would. Just letting people to be prepared as what will come next. Of course do attend CED I would rather have an HR representative to tell me if I must re apply. I don't think anyone here is an HR specialist employed by the OCC, therefore I cannot trust what is speculated. Tomorrow I shall receive an e-mail regarding my concerns for the Southern CED which has NOT taken place yet. Thank you! Check the other replies earlier, the southern one is in Dallas and already happened. The CED for all districts happens in this week November the 13th, reapply again next cycle and stop being delusional Calm yourself. You're a professional. Act like it. I do apologize for using such harsh word for the situation. I do believe all the CED are done, is that correct? I agree. It's not the place to be nasty to each other. We are all stressed and anxious. A lot of posts on here seem negative just for the sake of being negative. Let's be supportive. If we make it into this program, playing nice in the sandbox is kind of mandatory, or it will make for a long five years. FWIW, I went back through. I didn't see a single person on this thread who indicated they were actually invited to Dallas, so it's quite possible the Southern District hasn't had theirs yet. It would also explain why one person said the recruiter told them they'd hear about CED by the 17th, rather than the 9th, although I also have no idea what district that person was from. Also, FWIW, as I already indicated, there were only 5 or 6 people in the Central MCBS group during my time slot, not 14-16. I wouldn't really trust what anonymous is saying about the day of your CED. I doubt someone who was part of recruiting for the OCC would be commenting on this and if they're not part of it they really don't know. They wouldn't fly you out and pay for a hotel if they weren't interested. I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but I don't think that just because you were on the 2nd or 3rd day that means it's unlikely you'll be selected. Not that it really matters. The only thing to do now is wait. I want to thank everyone in this thread, it was a great help when preparing for both interviews. Good luck! Just finished my interview few days ago, do people think they did well on the interview? Show More Responses Also I will just wait for the call back result, it might takes a while due to thanksgiving is just around the corner. Does anyone remember the training locations for the Western district? I know there are 4, and I remember what 3 of them were: Des Moines, San Francisco, and Wichita. I can’t remember the fourth one for the life of me. No idea, I only know the location for northeast ones What are the locations for the northeast training? And I'm guessing no one and confirm the thing about day of your CED? I was told training in the NE would be in the central district, in either Columbus, Cincinnati, or Louisville. I am LBS, though, so I don't know if MCBS training for NE is actually in in the NE or not. Hey everyone, we are all going through the same process all feeling the same anticipation to find out if we were selected, if you have negative speculation please keep it to yourself. Until December 4th we all have an equal opportunity to be selected. The person who commented saying the day you interviewed determined the likelihood of your selection spoke inaccurately. I know fellow college alum in the occ who told me the day of your interview has nothing to do with the chances you have of being selected. So let’s please keep this thread positive and not make the anticipation any worse. Thank you! For NE it's possible to train in NYC because one of the tour guide is in the NY field department and he trained in NYC too Also for northeast you might be trained in DC The district recruiter for the NE said during my CED that all training for MCBS will be done at whatever field office you're going to be working out of. For the Northeast specifically I don't know about other districts and large banks could obviously be different. The district recruiter for the NE said during my CED that all training for MCBS will be done at whatever field office you're going to be working out of. For the Northeast specifically I don't know about other districts and large banks could obviously be different. Show More Responses It's not 100% guaranteed to be trained at the field office you applied. Most likely you will be trained at one of the bigger district location for training Anyone get callback yet? Does anyone know how many they will be hiring for Mid-Size in the Northeast as a whole or by field office? They won't tell you how many they are hiring Actually Nyc is hiring 5, according to my interviewer Only 5? That's very little considering they aren't planning to hire again in January The lead recruiter said they try to fill up all their hires for northeast for June right now and not hiring for the next cycle in January unless they can't fill up the positions I think it's pretty tough to tell how many they are hiring. Each training team consists of about 5, so I would assume each field office is hiring about 5 people. I'm not sure how it works for NYC specifically, because they're hiring for Manhattan, Jersey City and Edison, so IDK if that means 5 for each office or 5 for New York as a whole. I believe what they mean by hiring again in January is if a lot of people don't accept offers. Again, I really don't know, just doing my best to speculate. For my session the lead recruiter specifically said that because in the past they have been hiring in October and January so they often have to break up the training session into two and it's much easier for them if they just hire once and train all the new hires together. So for this time they wanted to try to recruit everyone in just one setting and not have to worry about train the new hires again in January unless they can't fill the positions. This is only for the northeast district Good luck everyone! It's started! Show More Responses Started what? The calls? Indeed! I hope everyone gets the position they went for! Which district? What? Really? How do you know? They made the decisions this fast? Wow 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Everybody, stay calm. The process has just started, keep an eye out next week and the following week for calls/emails. Last cycle it was roughly two weeks from first-last offers with some divisions starting several days ahead of others. I hope everyone was able to get the position they were going for! Don't be discouraged either way and reapply the spring round if you don't make this round. I know one guy that was hired in April (June start) was finally accepted on his 4th attempt, so don't be at all discouraged if you are interested you'll be even more prepared. Good luck everyone! Also one more thing, I read on here that they would hire a lot of people then trim it down to the ones they wanted to keep during training. Is this true? Also by looking up reviews by the associate and the assistances on here most of them reflect the same issue with training and first starting out until you made it to UCE. Can anybody confirm if this is true? To the person who stated I was being "Delusional", please do not manifest negativity. It sucks enough that I did not get the second interview and this is my Second time applying. My entire future outlook on my career is desired by becoming an OCC employee. Although not being informed ahead of time and having to reach out to the agency about my status after ALL CEDs have taken place is a bit discouraging to my career goals, but your comment and outlook is a bit disturbing and doesn't help others that have to look forward to other career opportunities. Be mindful, please and take care of yourself. To everyone else, CONGRATULATIONS!! I wish you all the best on your endeavors!! Have a great weekend!! Don't worry about what other people have said here, I know people who are going through this application cycle for the third time and still trying! Just reapply agin next time in January and be prepared! Show More Responses Most definitely!! Will do!!! Hopefully, the 3rd time is the charm!!! Thank you!! Good Luck!! Best of luck to you too! :) Anyone hear anything yet, Also should we be worrying about the training part like what majority of the reviews said here on Glassdoor? Majority? I only saw a couple. I'm definitely not sweating the petulant words of a few disgruntled employees. Training will be what you make of it. Thank you! I really wanted to stay with occ if I made it Anyone received anything yet? Acceptance or rejections? Nothing for me yet. I doubt anything will go out on the weekend My recruiter gave me my itinerary for CED and answered a bunch of questions at 7:30pm two Saturdays ago. So never say never, but I haven't heard anything, either. Doesn't seem like anyone has, except one person who I personally think was making an obvious attempt to troll. Show More Responses Ok thank god. I was wondering why the offer calls would go out on Friday night, nearly got myself a heart attack Do people think they did well on the interview? I heard once you made it to the last interview their decision on giving you an offer or not solely depends on how you performed for the interview. Yeah, I definitely wasn't trolling but like I said before, good luck everyone and I hope everyone gets the spot they were going for! Literally only a couple of offers get sent on Friday, the majority will be starting in the morning. There should have been at least one ambassador that was a Friday hire at your CED. But yet again, that doesn't mean anything to be worried about. 99% of offers start the following week. Nice! But I'm surprised some people got their offer on Friday I'm just excited I got one! Lol. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces from CED again at orientation! I'm also not the person who was being negative to other people previously, in case anyone didn't know. I'm looking forward to more of you guys getting your offers as well! It's a very exciting time! Congrats! Do you mind sharing what office you applied to? I don't want to say anything yet publicly even anon, until other people start getting their offers. I'm sure you can understand. No. No one understands. Which is why people think you're trolling. 🤷 Background checks take at least a week and they need that before making an offer. When did you interview? Show More Responses Don't think anybody got their offer yet, the guy is definitely a troll Also according to the thread with 700+ comments, most offers should be given out this week. So if people didn't get their offer this week chances are slim to get the job have anyone gotten an offer call yet? Or a rejection email at this point? I can confirm that calls have started to go out for the Northeast... Hello, everyone, as we are all calmly waiting for the offer calls, if you could use the following format when you hear anything from OCC, I would greatly appreciate it! *Update: Offer Call! That's fast Yes I was surprised...I interviewed in Chicago on 11/14 It's weird considering the background and credit check takes a while to go through and also the fact that during last cycle people waited much longer to hear back Congratulations!! And thanks so much for updating us! Congratulations and what is your location of the central MCBS? I have my fingers and toes crossed for you, Aurther! To the other offeree: in addition to your field office, where is your training? My office is in Milwaukee and that is where the training is also. Offer call: 1:45pm EST MSBS Northeast Recruiter stated I passed the preliminary background review therefore offer is contingent on passing a full background check @Betty7 Lol and thanks so much~ @NE777 Congratulations! Do you mind sharing with us about your field office (it's totally fine if you prefer not to say). Feels like I'm not getting an offer this time...... since the offer calls are already been giving out 😭😭😭 Show More Responses Breathe! There will be offers made tomorrow and Wednesday, as well as a few the following week. Keep the faith. I believe!!!!!! I believe in myself and each one of you!!! We got this ☺️ Exact same thing as NE77. Did he use a recording or something? lol Offer call: 1:45pm EST MSBS Northeast Recruiter stated I passed the preliminary background review therefore offer is contingent on passing a full background check So we have 4 offers here already? wow think im not getting one this time :( Did anyone received an offer from Central yet? I think it is safe to call it a day now, congratulations to the fellow glassdoorer who scored big today!! For the rest of us, good luck to you all tomorrow! Anyone from the western district? Is there only one offer from Central so far? Show More Responses I'm worried I won't get an offer because I still didn't get a call yet. Did anyone found out if they have their credit pulled? What about the USA job job status???? To the people who gotten an offer, which day did you have your CED on? Was it the first day? To the people that got offers is your start date January or June? Hey everyone. I received an offer for the western district earlier today. I am here to clarify the misconception regarding Which day you had your CED. I was a day 3 CED candidate so I genuinely don’t believe the day you went has anything to do with your eligibility. Good luck, I hope you all get selected ! My CED was on the 15th (day 2}. June start. I haven't gotten an alert from Capital One yet that my credit was pulled, and my job status is still "Reviewed" on USAJobs with a last updated date in September. Day 1 of CED, no credit alert[I think they just do a soft pull that wouldn't show up though) , no change on USAJobs. What's the field office you will be working in for these of you who gotten an offer? I'm worried that the competitive ones will be a lot harder to get in Hi, Dx, congratulations! Which office did you apply? Field Office - Washington DC Call came in at 1:45pm I missed the call and called back. Which central districts have people received offers for? It is safe to say the offers are finished at this point? my offer was columbus! Hey all, Those of you who receive offers, could you also post what your credentials were going into the final interview and what you think gave you the upper hand? It's be really helpful to those of us who plan on reapplying next round! They said in CED that the NE region do not plan to hire again next time unless there are positions need to be filled Think all the offers are out at this moment, thinking about reapply again next time I have a feeling more offers will be going out tomorrow. Don't update with guesses, just update if you actually got an offer or not. None of us really know. Show More Responses I have a feeling more offers will be going out tomorrow. Don't update with guesses, just update if you actually got an offer or not. None of us really know. The last person who posted about getting an offer last year got the offer on November 30th. CED was over roughly the same days this year, and the end of the month is over a week away. I'm just speculating, but I highly doubt all the offers are out. Though I'm sure that someone will ask again in 3 posts. 😆 **Summary: Offer Call! Again, congratulations to everyone who got the order already and for the rest of us, keep an eye on your cell phone, got another day before holiday, don't we? :) BTW, if anyone got a offer call from San Francisco, please kindly let me know. I checked my credit report, I know, I know, I don't have soft pull from OCC yet. I'm worried guy....... I really really really wanted to work for the occ..... I'm scared what if I don't get the offer It’s allright, I’ve known of people who applied 3 times and got in on the 4th try ... just keep on trying... To the person asking about San Francisco - I received an offer for SF on Friday, November 17 around 4pm. My training is also in SF. :) We were told on CED (held 11/14) that the offers would start on 11/20, and they should wrap them up by 12/4. There is still hope! Has anyone gotten an offer for St. Louis? How many people do they recruit to each field office? And how long do they give the offerees to decide on the offers? I'm not certain on the number of people that are recruited for each office but I was given 48 hours to accept/decline the offer. Thanks and Congrats. Show More Responses It is safe to say that as of right now all the offers are been given out and we should just reapply next time? 😂 9 posts later. No one knows. No one can answer that for you. Based on the trends from prior years, NO. Ok thank you! I wish i can get the job! Hi, elbie, I was the person who asked the question about SF, thanks a lot for updating us and congratulations on your offer! Thanks, Aurther! I hope you hear something soon! **Summary (LAST): Offer Call! I am taking my focus off this forum and this application in particular now. For the past 1 month, especially the last 2 weeks, I have spent most of my time and energy on this application and I want to switch gears and spend more time with my family, gym buddies and my studies. It's been a great experience and thank you all so much for all your support, sharing your experience and comments with us, I greatly appreciate it! Congratulations again to all the ones who have received the job offers and best wishes to the ones who are waiting. Happy Holidays Everyone!! Hello everyone, I think it's safe to say that if we didn't get a call by the end of today, chances are very slim we would have an offer for the position considering tomorrow is thanksgiving and flex Friday afterwards. So it's either today or maybe the next Monday for calls to going out, and that's it Yep... I know previous cycles offers went out later, but i am losing faith as wel. Guess better luck applying next round. Yep... I know previous cycles offers went out later, but i am losing faith as well. Guess better luck applying next round. For what it’s worth I’d say never give up. This is my third time applying for the OCC and I finally received an offer. Yes I was upset and kind of discouraged the first two times but I redirected that energy into performing better the next recruitment cycle. First time around I failed the knowledge assessment, 2nd time I passed knowledge failed the WCST, 3rd time I passed both portions and the interviews.. If this is really what you want keep working for it , eventually you will get it! Show More Responses I'm thinking about applying for an undesirable place to start working as oppose somewhere lets say NYC because how competitive it is to get an offer Hey Dx, how did you prepare yourself for the interview? I think I didn't get an offer because I didn't do so well during my interview. Also is the field office you applied a competitive location where a lot of people were trying to get in? Thank you I just spoke to my recruiter. He stated that offers will still be going out over the next week or so. Take it for what it's worth. Hello there, may I ask what district is the recruiter you spoke with? Thank you I got nothing!! Not even a rejection e-mail. I had to call to ask about my status. Of well..good luck to those who actually made it to the end with an offer. Enjoy your new found employment!! Sry Lea. Best of luck, hopefully this was at least a positive learning experience. Southern district Oh thank you..... do people think offers for other regions are all finished I want to believe offers will still go out for other districts next week. It’s hard to believe so many of us didn’t get offers, but I’ve also somewhat lost faith. From what o recall there were 49 that made it to the CED and they were hiring I believe 15-20 if I remember correctly. These are southern district numbers. Show More Responses From those with experience, is it easier or more difficult to get hired for a June start from the April hiring, or is it really just luck? To me it felt like the offers are done, it's just hard to believe how so many of us didn't get anything Also the fact that occ tends to over hire and then trim down people from training teams. More than half of the people don't make it through ^^ is that a fact?? No. Sadly it is. Even my phone interview told me the fact that passing the interviews is not enough to keep the job. The train period consists of 6-7 months followed by 5-6 months of probation period. If your monthly evaluation period is ever came back below a satisfactory grade, you will be removed from the position. If you do not believe me you can look up the reviews on Glassdoor and see how many "helpful" upvote some of the reviews received when they talk about how much people get trimmed out by the training and probation period. I got a notification the OCC pulled my credit but I haven't receeived an offer. Does anybody think that's a good sign that offers still may be going out or do you think they just do it for everyone? The reviews don’t say that regarding training and probation is 12 months from when you start Training teams do not have 50+ percent attrition rates. Most people make it off training team and make it off probation. There are a few who simply aren't cut out for the job, but that's the exception. That person will have warning and be given an opportunity to improve. Keep in mind that people are a lot more inclined to come and write a review if they had a very negative experience. So you're likely to read about a lot of those negative experiences here, and it isn't necessarily an accurate representation of the number of people that don't make the cut. Show More Responses Then what is the more accurate rate of attrition that you know of? I prepared myself for the interview honestly by doing my own outside research on the OCC and remembering the questions they asked me on the phone interview and coming up with new examples to similar questions. I researched the OCC's history and their mission/purpose, reiterating it in the interview. Aside from that just being calm and confident in what i could bring to the table, you know? You are your own greatest asset in this life, when you truly believe that people will see it. Just have faith in yourself and your abilities! Also, I applied for the LA field office, I hope this helps! & I hope you all get offers this coming week, best of luck to everyone! I wonder if they’re done making offers in the Northeast I think they are done making the initial offers. I’m sure a few people will turn down offers which will open up spots this week. Yeah offers are done almost 100% just reapply next time I guess At this time it's safe to say that the offers are done giving out Also hard to believe so little people on here got offers. Maybe they aren't hiring that many people afterall I wonder why they don't hire more people when the agency is understaffed and there are people who jus sit around all day and don't do anything Again it's not safe to assume anything. That being said use some quick logic. Offers were starting on Monday of last week. The week ended for most federal and state employees on Wednesday (most also took a half day that day as well) ^^^^What they said. Impossible to know if they're done giving out offers yet. My guess is that they'll finish giving them out this week but we'll see. Show More Responses Hey, everyone! So I was one of the unfortunate recruits who was denied during the phone interview stage (I interviewed while being extremely sick). I'm checking in after over a month of being absent from this forum. I'd like to start off by saying congratulations to all that have received an offer! While reading through the comments, however, I noticed that someone mentioned that the Northeast District isn't really looking to hire January recruits. That sucks, as I REALLY wanted to work out of the Philadelphia field office my first time around. Now that I'm preparing to start the process over again in January, that statement now has me rethinking my initial plans. Did anyone successfully make it (at least an interview) to a district outside of the district that they reside in? If the Northeast District isn't looking to hire anyone, then I wouldn't mind applying to either Central (Chicago-Downers Grove) or Western (San Francisco). The lead northeast recruiter said specifically that the northeast isn't trying to hire in January unless they can't fill the positions. Also SF is very competitive to get in plus the rent is very high, maybe Chicago is easier but I'm not sure It looks to me they prefer local candidate/s; seems the few who received offers are living in the same cities where the field offices located. They interviewed so many people during the CED but hired so few. I do not live near where my offer came from FYI You must be a super strong candidate among those they interviewed for that office then. Or the office is in a undesirable location that anyone who applies will get in To me the OCC HR likes to do industry hires with people who's been working for 1-2 years. Do they not consider OCC' turnover rates? It makes more sense to do less industry hiring when the candidate is clearly leaving a company behind after the firm's initial investment and training in them and look for something else, just like how they came to interview with the occ and leaving their old company behind. Do OCC not see the fact they will do just the same in a few years and go somewhere else? Leaving the same place understaffed and lose of investment in candidates Appreciate the kind words. I prepared a bit for the interview but once I got in there it all went out the window. The sad truth is the OCC isn't hiring that many people for their entry level positions due to the fact that there are people who doesn't do any work in the government and still gets paid like everyone else knowing that they will never get fired. The latest company review on OCC clearly stated that there are people who comes in and just stare at their computer screen all day/sits around do nothing meanwhile there are so many of us who eagerly wanted to be part of OCC and willing to do the hard works. It's just how government works and nobody can do anything about it. Show More Responses ^welcome to adulthood. I wouldn’t focus energy on things you can’t control, if the OCC is your dream job, figure out what they want and make sure you have it before you apply again. Best of luck! Thank you Did anyone ever see their status change? I think I’ve officially lost hope. Made it all the way to CED, and thought St. Louis and Indianapolis wouldn’t be among the most desirable locations, guess I was wrong. Are they gonna send rejection email at all? Yes. I think they will be sent the same time offer letters are sent, which is next month. The office I’m going to is large and a few states away. For those applying in the future, I don’t think you should be swayed by the location in reference to where you currently live. How about share some of your credentials with us so we can have some clue? Years of related experience? Super charming character? Connections? Luck? It doesn’t sound like a good advice to others to apply for somewhere far far away in general. Also keep in mind that an unpopular location might also have a smaller incoming number of new hires It is safe to say all the offers are made at this point and we should just reapply next time? Sorry if you took what I wrote as advise, it was just my experience. This might be hard to believe, but I think they just thought I was a good fit for the position. Maybe I scored well on the test. Maybe they liked my interview answers, I wouldn’t know and won’t drive myself crazy trying to speculate. Best of luck to you though! Show More Responses Advice* No one want you to guess anything, just want to know what kind of qualifications you have so others can compare and gauge themselves. And the main point is that your experience doesn’t reject the local candidate advantage at all. Stop being so harsh to him. He doesn't have to tell you anything, the fact that he is willing to help you and explained what he thought was the reason made him get the offer is already fair enough. Maybe it's your attitude that made the OCC rejected you for the position For people who are applying again next time are you going to apply for the June start date or the January start date? For the poster asking for advice, I think a major key is attitude showing confidence but not arrogance. That you are willing to learn and are able to articulate yourself clearly and concisely. I have an accounting degree and worked an internship so I talked a bit about how my intern assignments helped me to developed transferable skills. And outlined those skills and how they relate. Also make sure you seem team oriented as almost all your work will be in a team. That’s the best I can offer you ask questions that are indicative of longevity with the agency. Hope this helps whoever applies next round. Also make sure ur responses to the behavioral questions hit all points as they use a star interview approach (you can google that) If you reapply again can you even apply for January start date? I would assume when the next cycle starts it would pass the January time Should we all just assume that it's the end of it? Reapply next time? Just waiting for my rejection email now.. Yeah..... it's sad to see only so few of us made it through the interview. I wonder did they hire less people for this time or what I wonder why they took in so many people to the CED if they knew they are hiring fewer; too much of waste for both sides. Show More Responses I think next cycle will be even tougher, as the trend of tightening government agencies continues. anyone contact their HR Rep? Yeah I think it's only going to get worse and worse from now on if we don't get in on this cycle Some may want to try starting at the state level as an examiner. Would give you transferable skills for the federal level Next cycle begins in February, the earliest starting time will be June. Anyone got Cleveland field office? Could you please share when did you receive your offer? Thanks. Losing hope at this point. It felt like occ have a definite need in mind and just called in so many people for last round to get only a selective few I haven’t heard anyone got Cleveland or Cincinnati either. Anyone contacted the head recruiter yet? Listen - do not give up hope! they have probably made the first round of offers, but that doesn't mean that everyone who applied will accept. Hang in there. I know it is hard to be optimistic at this point, but the process is not officially closed yet. Show More Responses Thank you. I really appreciate and needed these positive support Quick question, if they wanted to contact you for an offer, does the lead recruiter calls you directly or it's someone from the HR? In my case, the recruiter called me directly first. Then I received an email with all of the details. Thank you Offers are still being extended, at least in Central. I've just accepted one for Cleveland. Received offer by phone yesterday and accepted today. I didn't ask what part of the hiring process they are in, but I'm fairly sure they still have a few more to go at this point. You are given 48 hours to accept or decline. Congrats Feels so good that one more of us got an offer, even though I still didn't get anything 😭 I'm curious, if you missed the offer call do they leave a message for you to call back? i missed the offer call but received a follow up email . Show More Responses Congrats r403, hopefully more central offers are coming, but I’m not holding out much hope For those that got their offers, do you have a start date yet? did anyone else get an offer from western district? so to reiterate: lets ignore 22,23,24 since most people will take off or leave early. 20,21: offers have been extended to almost all districts minus the north east 27,28,29: offers have only been extended to central, nothing at all for west or south is this correct? Only one offer was extended this week, maybe just an atypical situation. thanks ggwpnore everyone Has anyone heard from the Indy or Louisville office ? Keep in mind that there are people who applied and perhaps received offers that aren't posting in this thread. Take everything you read here with a grain of salt. It's not over until it's over (if you receive the rejection letter) Until then, keep pushing on and stay positive! For those who made it to CED more than once and finally got an offer what did you do different the second or third time? I would email my recruiter but he probably wouldn’t give outright rejections because they stated until the 8th or something Show More Responses My recruiter told me that central is done with their offers How recently were told that about the central being done with offers, and were you told via phone or email? Thank you in advance. I emailed my recruiter yesterday and he called me today Offers are done last week, before holiday; the one received offer this week was a rare case that someone either declined or didn’t pass background/credit check, he happened to be the first on the waiting list. With him accepting offer yesterday, there is nothing left. It's hard to believe so many people didn't get anything Given the lengthy process I'm not sure if I will go through it again knowing OCC will again invite way more people for last round of interview and only give out so few spots for offer I’m going to email my recruiter and just get the rejection over with. Hopefully he will have some tips for next round. I’m going to apply to even smaller cities and hope that works out.. That's rough to hear it.... keep on applying and keep us updated :) I emailed my recruiter (central) and he called back I missed the call and now he is out of the office. If it is a rejection I wish they would have just emailed me instead of waiting until Monday to find out. I guess I still have some hope but not much. My recruiter said that offers are done for central; I called yesterday. Show More Responses Yeah that’s what I figured . I just don’t know why he would have me call instead of just emailing me like I did first. Did they say anything else about your status going forward? Well i just got my rejection email so it looks like those will start officially going out. Just got my rejection email! Honestly don't think I'm going to apply again. Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Best of luck in your future search Given how the process turned out for most of us I don't think majority of the people would reapply again. What is everyone's rejection email looks like? As far as I know there are two types of rejection email, one saying you were not recommended for the position and other one saying the process is very competitive and you were not selected for a position. The second one meaning you were among the recommended ones but not high enough on the list to make it meanwhile the first one just straight out rejected you A rejection letter is still a rejection letter at the end of the days, but mine states.... Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Our hiring process is extremely competitive and we regret to inform you that you were not selected for our entry-level bank examiner position. If you are interested in reapplying to this position during future cycles, you must submit a new application and any required documents during the next open period. You will be required to re-take all of the requisite Assistant National Bank Examiner tests (knowledge test and written communication skills test). Your interest in the OCC is truly appreciated and we wish you much success in future employment endeavors. Sincerely, ANBE Recruitment but in regards to the post above, I do plan to apply and take my chances again for a June start date. I do not graduate until May anyways, just sucks that the next CED if i make it will be in the heart of busy season This is mine, do you see the difference: Thank you for your interest in employment with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). I do not think one has more or less meaning than the other. I'm NE and I got the "Our hiring process is extremely competitive and we regret to inform you that you were not selected for our entry-level bank examiner position" email. Applied earlier this year and got that as well Yeah who knows For who those who have gone through the process multiple times did you apply for different cities the 2nd or 3rd time? Don't think people will keep coming back to here now since everything is over I received my offer from Western!! My location will be with the Honolulu field office Lol there is no Honolulu field office. Seattle and SF split those examinations. Nice try though. Lol there is no Honolulu field office. Seattle and SF split those examinations. Nice try though. Show More Responses I applied and got to CED, but I got my rejection email on Friday Dec 1. I wish the email didn't say that "based on your decision interview, you were not recommended" though. I mean, that's pretty obvious, but it's also really discouraging because it sounds like "Hey, you did well in every step, but boy did you really screw up that interview" to me. I'll be honest though. I really want this position, so I might reapply at some point...but I really don't want to. Every step in the process was a constant spike in anxiety for me, and the whole business of flying out to Chicago was a continual source of stress. Did anyone get their refunds for expenses yet? I feel like it’s taking forever. It's the government what do you expect The refunds takes around 3 months so if you need the money right away don’t expect it! I learned that from the other feed of over 700 comments-sorry dear! Merry Christmas everyone Has anyone received their offer letter yet? If it’s for NE June start, they said this month, not sure what date. Yes it is, that’s what I thought as well. Thanks! Did everyone have happy holidays? Has anyone heard back with acceptance letters or anything else? Show More Responses Still waiting... Northeast. Yep, NE here...still waiting. I thought waiting for the phone call was nerve-racking... I think it’s fine, we have time as the start date isn’t until June. As long as we got the phone call, we’re good! Any word yet? So is this feed over ? No has posted an update in a while! Has anyone heard from OCC on acceptances letters or training? Also have you received reimbursement from interviews? One or more comments have been removed. |
Have not gotten any interview questions yet. 230 AnswersWhich locations did you pick? My first time applying, the tests weren't as bad as I was expecting. I applied for the Northeast and San Antonio, the first time I took the WCST it was very different than this time around, which I’m glad they changed it, where did you pick? Northeast and Central. I live in Pittsburgh, PA so they are the closest geographically. Not interested in a move Texas/Cali. Show More Responses Texas is my second choice and I would also prefer to stay in NY, but if I have to I’ll move where ever they need, have you gotten anything for the phone interview ? Nothing yet on phone interview. Yesterday was the last day for testing though. picked Dallas and la here, I wonder if the amount of people who pick locations affects chances of employment.. Hi guys , I passed the test too. It was my second time. I think it is easier this time. I wanna be in DC / NY but they don't have it. I have to pick SF/LA. They said you cannot relocate till 5 years. I think I may reapply. No matter what they want candidates who are okay with moving and traveling, I say if you get the chance now to interview and the offer take it, 5 years will go by fast and if you are an outstanding employee I’m sure they would value that and give you more opportunity to go anywhere you want I agree with Shawn, this time around the tests were much easier; I took two hours to complete both tests this time(passed the written portion for the first time) where before it took me four hours. I tested on 02/19/18 as soon as I walked out of the testing center I received an email stating that I passed the written portion, I have not heard anything since then. Yes much easier this time, which I’m glad they changed, the first time I took the exam was in the fall and the loan documents was part of the written, I actually ran out of time, but okay I applied later this time and didn’t take the exam until the 21 which was the last day, heard back the same day as well about passing, hoping to get the email for the phone interview I am waiting here. Passed the test on the 19th. I picked OK and Kansas. Hopefully the lack of people interested in tornado cities would give me a higher chance. Hope that gives you a better chance too, I’m sure it has too since it’ll be a smaller number of candidates to choose from Good luck to everyone. This is my second and hopefully last time going through the process. I made it all the way to career exploration day last round.. hopefully applying to a smaller office (Peoria IL) gives me a better shot. Show More Responses Good luck you’ll do it! This is my first time testing and I passed. How soon should we hear back to schedule phone interviews? Has anyone gotten the call or set up their interview? From my experience last cycle, they are very slow in scheduling phone interviews so I would not worry. Thanks for that! I sort of figured the phone interviews would go out fast. I feel like we should here something this week, if not then idk lol. Has anyone heard anything? I've been scared to ask for fear one person has. Someone email their recruiter and ask lol Just got my email to setup the phone interview! I just got my email too! Anybody else? yeah, interviews begin Friday and go through sometime next week. Good luck to everyone. Show More Responses Keep us posted on how it went! I just got an email for phone interview too. Good luck everyone For those who received an email for the phone interview, which locations did you applied for? still didn't get mine...maybe they haven't emailed everyone yet? I also haven't received an email yet. The email that said I passed the exam also didn't indicate when I should hear back by. Hang on guys you’ll get it every District works at different paces! Just got my email for a phone screening from the Western District anyone who applied in the southern district still waiting? I am, I applied for San Antonio & Dallas. Just had my interview for central region.. nothing too unfamiliar why OCC, a time you had a difficult group, ask about the travel, etc. good luck to all Show More Responses I still haven't received an email for the the phone interview yet, but I did pass the exams. I applied for the western district. If I still didn't receive the phone interview email by now, does that mean I'm not selected? I haven't received the email as well. I applied for Los Angeles and Santa Ana location, passed the test on 2/8 and haven't heard any feedback since then. Now we can only hope that the western district is working at a slower pace lol. Even offices within the same district works in different paces. There is still hope! Who else had their phone interview already? And western y’all will get the email be patient I am going for a small western district office and I have my interview on Tuesday. I'll update as soon as I complete it. I applied SF and LA. I received an email to schedule phone interview on 3/7/18. My interview is on 3/12/18. In the email, it says they conduct phone interview from 3/8/18 through 3/14/18. Not sure about other districts. I had my interview today for the LA office. The questions are the same as the ones listed above. Good luck! Based on these answers, I'm guessing passing the exams does not guarantee a phone interview. Is there a number I can call to request for an update or is there only the recruitment mailbox? Only recruitment email it’s okay to follow up others have in the past. From reading the previous feeds. Anyone applied northeast region? I still haven’t received email either, I selected Syracuse and San Antonio. Show More Responses This is my second time applying. Last time around I was invited to career exploration day. Looking at the 2 emails after passing the writing exam I noticed a few different details. 1) they have come from different servers/gate keepers. And 2) the email before gave me a date that I will hear from them. The recent email for passing the writing exam did not have a date of by when I would hear from them. These results can be read different ways but I think of your email did not have a by when date that you were not selected for the phone interview. I have heard before that if you passed the exams you automatically got a phone interview, but this could have changed since other things have changed as well. Also from last session it took about a week from my phone interview until I heard back about CED. Probably the same this year. So we should know something by the end of next week most likely... I think they review the candidates that passed the exams and then select ones they want to do the phone interview with. I asked the lady who interviewed me (she was super nice btw) and she told me we should hear back by the end of next week or the week after that as career exploration day is second week of April. anyone from southern district still waiting? confused I haven't heard from the southern district as well. Has anyone else heard from the southern district? Had my phone interview with central district. Same basic behavioral questions listed above. Also, are you ok with travel/relocation. CED should be first week of April in Chicago, but didn't have a specific time frame when we would hear back. Good luck everyone! Just spoke to them and found out several locations decided not to hire at all. If you applied for a location that decided not to hire they will not consider you for any other location. Had my interview today. Talked a lot about travel and training schedule. Interviewer asked mostly behavioral questions. I hope everyone has made it this far! The person that just spoke to them.....did they say specifically which locations decided not hire at all? And will they contact us to let us know we’re not being considered? Show More Responses That seems dumb to even give people the chance to apply only to close the application... could be true though. I’m pretty sure central is hiring atleast a couple spots as it was advertised heavily. I got an email saying that TX and OK locations are not hiring after all Fort Worth, TX Lubbock, TX Oklahoma City, OK San Antonio, TX Tulsa, OK These are the locations I was sent thay cancelled the hiring all together Wow.. I feel bad for you guys. That isn’t surprising though as on the message board from the last recruiting (fall 2017) a lot of people were invited to CED for spots that didn’t actually exsist or offices that hired much less than originally planned Ced invites should go out next week. Good luck everyone So how many of us got to the phone interview? Should have been everyone that passed the test and applied for a location that is still hiring ^ that's not true. I applied to SF and LA, passed the exams, but never got invited for a phone interview. My fault lol. Maybe the west district is behind. I would reach out. I did and they said it is possible to pass the exams and not get to the phone interview, so I'm pretty sure there's another filtering between passing the exams and phone interview invites. Probably will get an official update sometimes this week. Show More Responses looks like i passed the exams but never received the email for the phone interview. Just checked my emails from last recruiting season, and I was invited exactly one week after my phone interview and 2 weeks before CED. Invites should go out this week most likely. this may seem like speculation but i feel like many people may have not gotten a phone interview because they significantly changed the written skills section from that mock memo from past recruiting seasons to an open ended one. this means they could probably disqualify you for whatever reason but that's just me. kermit_sipping_the_tea.jpg It's probably pretty simple. If a lot of people pass the test, they have to cut the number down to conduct the interviews. If they have the manpower to interview everyone that passes, they do it. I know my interview last ~50 minutes. One person can only do 8 a day. From the email I received, the ran interviews from the 9th to the 14th for this district. I don't believe they are doing weekend phone interviews, so one interviewer can only do 32 interviews during that time period (if they have no other duties and are only taking a minimum amount of time to organize notes). I'm not sure if they have more than one interviewer or not, but I'm assuming this is the limiting factor. Just received a call to let me know I'm invited for CED in Chicago on April 3rd. Email to arrange travel is to follow today. Good luck everyone! Also just got mine for Chicago on the 3rd, good luck to all Maybe I’ll see you there! To the individuals who got their invite to CED, what offices did you apply for? Peoria office. I believe it was the only office available in the central region I just got my invite for western district. Good luck! Show More Responses I just got my invite for Denver as well for the 3rd. Good luck to all! Yeah, Peoria was advertised heavily. For the western district people which offices did you guys applied to? Kansas, western district What is career exploration like? Read about it in the previous long feeds From the people I’ve spoken too it seems like clerical paperwork, some meet and greet q&a type of stuff, and an interview. At this point it seems more real and I’ve started to do a little planning on a relocation. There is also fingerprinting, etc. that they mentioned in the emails. Its basically just a brief over view of things and there will probably be a few examiners there for questioning, and then we all have our interviews. The process doesn't take too long. As far as relocation I know the OCC provides you with like a $2500 pre-loaded card essentially, but does anyone know if this is taxable income? It got real for me too. Stayed up all night crunching the numbers. Thanks for the info on CED. Every time I open the prrvious big thread of discussion, glass door app crashes me. Did anyone hear anything about training for Peoria/central? The phone interview lady didn’t have any info if it would be in a different city. Show More Responses Hey guys, I applied for the LA office and I still haven’t gotten a reply about CED. Is anyone else on the same boat? I’m not saying this is what is what is happening with you, but I believe they keep some people as backups in case an applicant invited for Ced decides not to attend. for other(s) interviewing in the central region what time is your interview on the 3rd? 745 am. I’m hoping the hotel is walking distance so I don’t have to deal with any traffic Should be fine. Last time we were in the grand Sheraton downtown. It only took like 10-15 minutes I’m an uber to get there from that hotel. Idk if it will be the same hotel though, as they had problems with the bill. Long story short we had to pay for the hotel out of pocket. The occ quickly resolved it though and refunded it In a day or two. How long until we get our travel arrangements? I got mine earlier today. My flight out isn't until several hours after my interview I got mine today as well. The hotel in Chicago is within walking distance of the central region office I'm attending the Syracuse exploration day on the 6th. Anyone know how long the day usually lasts or if they will provide over night accommodations since i'm flying from a distance away? Any good resources I can look out to find out more beforehand? This thread has been a great help! Show More Responses From what I know they pay your hotel but you pay up front and they reimburse you that sometimes can take up to 2.5 to 3 months More than likely you will get a hotel and flight paid for if you are traveling a great difference. If you have to pay anything taxi uber etc it is reimbursed. Food is not though. The hotel is not paid for read previous feeds Hotel is definitely paid for if you accept their travel itinerary. It is paid for. There was just an error last time and we had to put a card on file. I was reimbursed the very next day. For anyone that has been to CED before, did you come across any questions that have not been mentioned in previous posts? Has anyone who got the invite for CED not received their itinerary yet? I sent in my documents via the special platform but no plans yet. Am I the only one? I haven't gotten mine. I assume it would come this week. They said in the invitation email that the itenery would come 1 week prior. I have to fly in the night before and am anxious to see it ahead of time. No, questions will probably be similar to the phone interview and questions mentioned in other feeds. They just want very specific situational answers. Any idea of the type of "specific situations" or other questions they might ask during CED? Show More Responses google STAR interview questions.. Does anyone have their CED Monday? I assumed not because of Easter being Sunday. I wasn't offered a hotel. Is there anyway I can ask for one since it'll be a lot of travel for one day or should I just not say anything? Is anyone going to Denver on April 3/4? I will be there at noon on the 3rd for an interview on the 4th So is CED an actual all day event or just the final interview at your scheduled time? Final interview, some meet and great, and some paperwork How many candidates do they typically interview for each office? Any idea? Probably varies office to office, depending on need and actual size of the office. I'll be in Denver @ 1200 on Tuesday. We’ve only seen people talking about Ced on Tuesday. I wonder if they are only doing it over one day this time out Good luck to everyone my flight was delayed slight so hopefully no one else has weather trouble Show More Responses I just landed at Chicago. Had a slight delay too. Was the central office only today? Wishing everyone good luck on their upcoming interviews. I am a new hire from the western district from the fall recruiting cycle that will be a June start. Curious to see what others thought of the interview process and what locations were applied for. The CED is a comfortable environment. You get to meet with a few current examiners, learn about their experience, and kinda just chat. Then you go do fingerprints, followed by interview with a more experienced examiners. The interview questions are almost a replica of the phone interview. So , no surprises. Hope everyone did great and enjoy the CED Does anyone remember when is the exact start date? I believe orientation is June 11th For the Western district. Yeah, it’s the 11th for everyone and most likely in DC. Offers should be out probably middle of next week on past experience if they not they told us by the 20th at the latest Yep. From other threads the earliest offers would start is Friday afternoon with next week much more likely. I was given the April 20th date as the latest as well and that most likely includes time for someone to decline an offer and them to go to the next person on the list. So training locations likely won’t be set until after the 20th, correct? Show More Responses They will have a firm training location when offers are sent training location is known when the offer is made and if you have to move for training and permanent location, you still get the 2500 relocation bonus twice Anyone think they’ve got the position secured? Nope! I’m hopeful but it’s all up to what they are looking for. How do you feel about it? I couldn’t get a good read, but like you I’m very hopeful! I believe offers may be going out today and/or tomorrow. My USAJob profile switched to "referred". No calls yet, but they are doing "stuff"! Mine also changed. Not sure the significance of this, but last session it did not change as it stayed at revived. No offers are happening until around the 20th! And why would you say that? That is the cut off date Incase people don’t accept. From the last feed people knew the very next week Show More Responses When I interviewed in November, they called the following Tuesday I believe. yeah, I assume things will be done last week. They wait awhile to send rejection letters in case top applicants reject, or don't pass background screening. Well here’s to hoping for offers tomorrow They gotta let us sweat a little we should hear something by weeks end! It’s hard to get through a workday and these meetings while waiting. Lol Atleast we are all in the same boat for now. Who had their status change on USA Jobs? Or has anyone seen an inquiry on their credit? Just so people are aware, when I got my offer from the OCC it happened at around 6:30-7:00 at night. So, stay by your phone even after normal business hours. I know my credit was pulled as I received a call on Monday that they were having technical issues, but this was resolved. My status changed that same day. Those are not for sure signs of an offer though. I got an offer in November, no credit pull from what I could tell, and my status was and still is “referred” Show More Responses I think referred is the last step, but not a sure sign from other feeds. The credit pull shows up on some repairing agencies, but not others. Atleast that’s how mine looked. Second time “Atleast” was used it’s not a word Lol thought I’d poke a little fun Bored at work and scrolling through feeds, and looks like the spring has taken longer than the fall in past years, but who really knows. lol I know the feeling. Just got off an hour long conference call about preparing daily reports, tons of time to look through what offices are people going for? Hard to distinguish since everyone posts anonymously Peoria/central for me. I’m mostly posting from my phone so no other choice. same here. I asked the questioned about which office. Any Western District people? Wonder if they were having issues setting up training or orientation yeah, there has to be something holding this up. I know multiple people were supposed to be hired for Peoria, but it wasn't sure if the training team was going to be there. Show More Responses Okay this is the big day things should be going down—offers Friday! Good luck! Let's hope so! Maybe we all just suck If we got there for CED we don’t suck. We are definitely qualified for the job but their may be better applicants or the timing isn’t right I was just being pessimistic. The optimist in me says they just haven't made offers yet. Because I am sure one of us would have heard something.. Especially since a few of us had our statuses change to referred etc. To the person who already works at the OCC, how long did it take to here about your offer? I told y’all it would be the 20th Lol patience’s is a virtue! I understand. 2 weeks is just a lot of time for anxiety to build. I was offered the Friday after the CED so it only took two days. But, I believe they were getting close to being done with the hiring process by the end of the 2nd week. They for sure had already made the initial offers by this time. Maybe they are just taking their time with figured for out the training locations. I’m anxious too where everyone gets hired so I can find out where I will be training. That’s what I am hoping that it’s scheduling the training teams is what is holding up the process, but maybe not. What region are you from ? Show More Responses Western Thanks for the support. I am banking on the scheduling of training being what slowed things down. I haven't lost all hope, but it is getting to that point. I planned on emailing my recruiter on like Tuesday if I haven't heard anything by then. Hopefully he can provide some clarity one way or the other for all of us. If I were you I wouldn’t do that it reflects bad on you. They may decide against you because of doing that. Although in previous feeds some did email their recruiter. Either way best of luck! What is the logic behind deciding against someone who inquires about it with the recruiter? Will the recruiter turn around telling hiring managers that the candidate should be turned down for lack of patience? Yes, I’ve been told it’s makes the potential employee look impatient, pushy, desperate among others. Like I said some on previous feeds did contact recruiters but we don’t know if it affected their outcome I’d rather be safe than sorry. I mean what’s the harm in simply waiting it out. If you don’t get it you could follow for next round on what you could do to improve your chances. One last thing you contacting them for sure won’t make them say oh since this employee contacted us let’s move faster! They will when ready make offers. I am not asking them to move faster. I am asking if they can tell me if I am still in the running, and if not I can turn my attention elsewhere. They won’t tell you that until they send you an official email. It sounds like you can turn your attention elsewhere and be patient and wait. If it works out then you can let the attention elsewhere go I suppose. Besides really what attention elsewhere can really happen from Tuesday vs Friday? I think you just want to know when you what to know instead of being patient, but do whatever you please as I’m sure you will. Until an official email or phone call. Also they may offer you based how many reject the offer so it’s a process and not on your timeline but OCC timeline Show More Responses okay tough guy lol. I do not have a problem waiting, obviously things will be on their terms. I am fine with that. Who wouldn't want to know their status sooner? Especially when it involves relocating. Lol okay I get it! But you will be surprised what waiting patiently will bring good things! You’ll get the J-O-B. Lol have a great weekend Don’t be that person. Operate as if you don’t have the job until you have the job. Not sure why you’d ridicule someone giving you good advice. You’ll find out when everyone else does regardless of you emailing them or not. I’m in the same boat waiting but this process has been more regulated and on a stricter timeline than some other jobs I’ve interviewed for at the bank I’m at.On an internal posting, I had 5 interviews with various hr levels and managers over the course of 4 months with no timetables. I knew the only other person being interviewed and in the end they decided to eliminate the position instead of hiring either of us. No emails were sent positive or negative. So this is relaxing in comparison. I’ve also been turned down for internal posting because my manager refused to release me for the transfer. All sorts of nightmares. It is hard to believe that asking hr about your situation would affect the result at all; it’s equally hard to understand someone who got an offer last season would have such keen interest in this thread though, so anything is possible. I’m not someone that received an offer from OCC. So no keen interest sir! Lmao. Anyway, here’s to hoping to hear good news for us this week. So we have 2 central people and at least 1 western person on this thread still waiting, any other western? Western for me too. I applied to Santa Ana and LA. Do you know how many interviewed for those locations, and did your status change to referred or anything? Show More Responses I have no clue how many interviewed or how many are being hired. My status did change to referred but who knows if that means something. Has your status changed? Yeah my status changed last Monday. But no idea if it means anything either. I just know last time mine never changed to referrer and obviously I wasn’t selected Received the offer call today. It wasnt for the office I had CED at which I thought was a bit odd but still an offer! Good luck everyone! For what office? And the office you interview at for CED is that regions headqharters.. seems somewhat trollish. Applied and interviewed for North Eastern and was offered a position in Iowa So you’re saying they offered you a position you did not even apply for? It was my second choice on my application but I thought since I didn't have CED there I wasn't being considered. oh okay, that makes more sense. They may have been low on applicants. Hopefully offers are still going out then. what day was your CED if you remember? it has been awhile now. Show More Responses The 6th Man, knew I should have put Iowa as my backup. Congratulations! Nice to get some confirmation of offer calls going out too! My CED was that Tuesday I think the first day. I’m just starting to think I’m not getting an offer. If it comes though then great. We may have been the odd people out for the Peoria office. I believe they interviewed around 6 people and planned to hire 3-4.. Possibly. When does the fall hiring open? In September I think. Any more offers today? How about the lady that so impatient did you get an offer? If not when you do either way let us know who you are so we’ll know say I was the impatient lady I did or didn’t get an offer! Thanks and good luck everyone! Are the offers coming in form of call or email? Never mind you said call above They will be in a call. Most likely from the lead recruiter in your region. I spoke with someone who has worked at the Peoria office for a couple years and they may actually be behind on the offer process, But who really knows. Show More Responses No offers today? Not for us lol Hang in there! Well two more days until the 20th we’ve got to hear something by then folks! One would hope! I’ve read before that they give you 48 hours to accept/reject. If that’s true, it seems today would be like a cut off. I really have no idea though. Hope is running out.. Guess today and tomorrow are out last chance, and then the rejection letters will come. I really don’t think they had very many positions to fill this time around! Yep. Just hoping there isn’t some sort of hiring freeze for a bit. They did good of selling me on the job at cde. Lol Show More Responses Well the last day not unless it’s going to take longer into next week because they will get the accepts or rejects later in the day! Yeah I really don’t know. Maybe we will hear a rejection today, and can stop hoping. Are you guys going to reapply if so? Rejection letters will be coming, the recruiter just got back to me. So all offers are already out? Yes, unfortunately. The fall application opens in early September. No idea what locations will be hiring. But they do hire for January and June start dates that vary by office. I’m so sorry to hear this sad news I’m so sorry that you spend you’re time on here, when you had zero reason to. *your going to correct myself I thought they were sending rejection letters? I never got one official communication will be sometime next week, and it will probably mention the next hiring period Show More Responses Just received my decline letter. See you guys next cycle! What exactly did it say? Also was it an email or mail letter? It’s email and says that you didn’t get it and apply next time lol it’s a rejection letter it doesn’t really matter what it says. Any more rejection email yet? I guess NOT! It’s a wrap people! Y’all don’t love me no more cause I can’t get no comments since rejection letters! Who got theirs? |
What was a time when you had a difficult teammate? 224 AnswersDescribed a class project in university where a student wasn't putting in much effort. What happened to the other post??? If you made it though to the last step of interviews is it wish to go for the job again Sorry should I try again I received the call late in the offer call in the evening around 6pm (eastern standard time). I am in the southern region. For those in Southern District, I got an offer from them about an hour ago. What area!? San Antonio. I did not send any follow up letter or e-mail. Do you know if anyone for the Fort Worth location has been chosen!? I know Fort Worth was my number one choice when I applied (although I strongly hinted that I'd prefer San Antonio during my interview, so that might not be as telling). So there is a chance that you can get chosen for your second choice!? I chose Fort Worth and New Orleans...I'm really nervous and I hope I get chosen...did they say a date in which we would hear by From what I understand, everyone in Southern District should hear by the 20th. It seems possible they are still calling on New Orleans. Good Luck. Thank you so much...I really need it!!! Show More Responses Congrats on your offer!!! Good luck to you!!! What did they say when they called you? Did anyone from the western district receive a call yet? Still waiting southern district :( Same here. Which office did you apply for? Spoke with one of the Southern District candidates, she got an offer for Birmingham. Nothing yet from western. Anyone else? Nothing from western either. Sounds like no one has heard anything from western which puts me at ease for now. Western was hiring for a lot more offices so wondering if that is why they are taking longer. Did anyone here go on the 8th!? I was Western but I went on the 9th in the afternoon. Were the only Career Exploration Days the 8th and 9th? 8th AM session. Did anyone who already received an offer have a status change as well? This could be a good thing. What region? Southern region. It doesn't state what the status was changed to. Same here. Keep hope alive. It's not the 20th yet! Show More Responses Same here. My status changed too. Southern district. Haven't heard anything. :( Southern region here. No status change or phone call :/ I'm one of the Southern District people that's received an offer. Don't get too discouraged by the change in USAJobs status. While you probably got the e-mail this morning, the status actually changed yesterday, before offers were made (I got up and checked it at 9am, got my offer at 9:10). When I got my offer, while they impressed on me the importance of deciding quickly, they noted that I technically have 48 hours to decide. I did make my decision quickly, but it's possible someone else who was made an offer will say no. And if you end up not getting it, just keep trying. If you got to the point of interview, they're biggest concern was probably long-term interest, by going through the process, you show your dedication. Good Luck to everyone, I hope you get answers soon. Has anyone applying to the west or central have their status change yet? I'm just seeing south. I applied to the west and central and haven't had my status change, so maybe these districts are taking longer I'm from the western region and received the notification last night at 11pm No notification at all :( southern I am the Western region and received a status change notification last night (at about 11 PST), but it does not say what the status changed too on USAJOBS. There is currently a snowstorm in Denver. Perhaps, it might be the cause for the delay? Southern region, any New Orleans offers? Anyone hear anything from Central region? My application status on USA Jobs is still the same. I was told today would be the latest we would be notified. Applied for the southern region, Miami office. No phone call, no usajobs status change :/ Still nothing from the Western Region. Has anyone from Western heard anything at all? I've probably come up with a 6th stage of grief at this point! Nothing here from western district I wonder how many people are here from the western district. It seems like no one from the western district has heard anything. Western as well and nothing. Which I think is a good thing for us westerners. I am thinking we won't hear anything until next week. I just saw somebody who interviewed in Denver wrote an interview review post on 4/14/2015. It shows that he/she received an offer and accepted it. I think it might be over for those who interviewed in Denver or western district? I saw that too. I find it odd that western with all of the open offices had sent out offers first (assuming from the post it was 4/14) before all other districts and that no one else from western who is posting on here has heard anything. I'm not going to count it out yet. Could just email Rod and ask for a status update Show More Responses I will post when I hear something back Received an Email back from Rod and he said my profile was still being reviewed and to touch base again if I haven't heard anything back by the end of the week I too just got an email back. He said all districts have begun the process of sending out offers but the process takes 2 weeks. I am thinking we are all still in the running for western. I figured they made th decisions and then started making all the calls. Must not be the case. Maybe they do it office by office or something like that. When you say "Rod" What district are you referring to? He/She is referring to the western district. Anyone from the central hear anything yet? The central seems to be the most quiet on here I'm also still waiting on Central. I'm sure we'll have our answers soon. Any southerners still waiting? This southerner is still waiting and hoping ! What offices in the central did you apply for? Show More Responses What offices are the southerners waiting to hear from? Fort Worth New Orleans What office are you waiting to hear from? People from the south is there anyone that we could contact if we haven't heard anything!? New Orleans... What southern offices have already heard? --They probably aren't even checking this anymore since they've received offers, but thought I'd ask ): -- Who can we contact to check out status!? Still waiting on Indianapolis or Detroit Does anyone from the South know who we can contact to check out status!? It's hard to believe nobody from the western district has yet to receive an offer. The person who made the interview review post about receiving an offer just confirmed that he/she didn't get the call but did it so he/she can gain access to view more contents on glassdoor. I wonder what is taking so long... Show More Responses Well, Southern district, I received an email from Maria Solis stating that the process was still ongoing and that I should hear back by close of business May 4, 2015. So if you want to check your status, maybe try contacting her, see if she says the same or something similar. I guess that's pretty decent news for us, ehh? Thank you so much for the update for the southern district!!!! That's kinda a relief! I just received the same email!!! From Ms Maria? Southern District: So now I'm wondering will we be receiving a call and/or a letter...? Hmm.. Yea it was from Maria....I have no clue but whatever it is I'm hoping it's an an offer! Southern District here: I received an email as well. I considered sending a response email for clarification. It says the evaluation process is still ongoing, but then it says I will receive written notification by the 4th. To me that says, we haven't filled the position, but you are not being considered. What do you all think? It wouldn't hurt to get clarity, since it seems like we all got the same email. So I'd say yes, respond. Yes, respond! Reading all this, I am very thankful I was in the Northeast region. We have been able to breathe for a week now. Best of luck to all of you! Show More Responses Northeast: how did you receive your offer?-- phone and/or letter? Also, what was said when you were offered the position? ^ I received my offer via a phone call last Tuesday. That is when the Northeast candidates were called. I was offered a position and a salary. I was informed there would be an official offer letter coming in the next two weeks. Has anyone from the south received an offer since the email had been sent out by Maria? I haven't seen any new posts confirming offers? Has any region received an offer lately!!?!!? Nothing here yet....south... Nothing from west or central, I was told by Rod we would hear back by at least tomorrow Okay, keep us updated everyone. Nothing from western. Was told end of week. Really hoping to hear something today. Nothing from west, hopefully soon, but my status on USAjobs changed on the 15th I hate to admit it but I think it may be over for us. Based on past reviews, most people received their offers after 7 or 8 days. There were only 2 reviews that had people received their offers 2 weeks later... Show More Responses I guess tomorrow is the moment of truth It's not over til the fat lady sings, and she ain't even humming yet! ^^ but I see her gradually making her way up to the stage haha ^I lol'd at that comment! This is driving me crazy! I've been debating saying I just received an offer to cause a mass panic haha Did everyone in the south that's still waiting receive an email from Maria? This is getting pretty ridiculous. It shouldn't take this long to notify people on whether they got the job or not, especially if offers were supposed to start going out over 10 days ago. I'm still waiting received the email from Maria Tuesday saying the process was till ongoing...I hope that means they are still hiring....I hope they let us know something soon! Has anyone heard anything in the past week? Western nothing. Was told to contact Rod if I don't hear anything by today. Plan on calling Monday if I don't hear anything. Show More Responses Western^^ Let us know how that goes on Monday! ^^will do! Rod told me even though I was a strong candidate they decided to go with someone else and that I should reapply in September, sorry everyone! ^^did you receive a prior notice that the process was still ongoing for that region like the southerners received? Or is this the first you've heard since career exploration? This is the first I've heard anything and I had to call. Did Rod say you'd receive a written notification of this? And that the hiring process was complete? For western, I was told the same thing through email. ^^ same thing as the person who called? Show More Responses Any Southern updates? Western- same email as above from Rod. This sure sucks. If you don't mind, will you copy and paste the email on here (minus your name of course). Yeah no prob. Here you go: It was a pleasure meeting you during the OCC Career Exploration Week for the Western District. The OCC Selection Committee has made a decision regarding your candidacy. Though the Selection Committee believed your candidacy was strong, another candidate was selected. There will be additional notification to come via e-mail from OCC concerning your candidacy. Please consider reapplying for our ANBE positions in the Fall if you are available, the announcement is tentatively scheduled for September 14, 2015. I will be sure to keep you posted on the announcement date. Thanks again for your interest and I hope to connect with you again soon! Rod Thank you! This is the email I received 6 days ago, it is quite similar to yours, so idk what to think. (Southern region) It was a pleasure to meet you recently and we want to thank you again for your continued interest in the Entry-Level Assistant National Bank Examiner position with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The evaluation process for this vacancy is still ongoing. However, you should receive a written notification by close of business on Monday, May 4, 2015. If you have not received a notification, please call me immediately so I can follow-up with the appropriate point of contact. Again, thank you for your interest and your patience. Best Regards, South ...I received the email above as well ^^ Anyone from the South got the nerve to call just to see where there process stands and if there's even still a shot...? -__- I'm nervous but I guess it's over I sent an email still nothing...don't want to call If it is over, I wish they'd just say that! Instead of dragging things out for no reason!! It's almost been a month, they know if they want us to work for them or not!!! They handed out offers the week after interviews, so why play around! I'm more frustrated than nervous at this point!! I'm both frustrated and nervous...frustrated because it's taking so long to find out and nervous because that means I possible didn't get an offer. Show More Responses I was a little more hopeful when I received the email from Maria... Until I found out it was a generic email sent to basically everyone who hasn't heard yet! Me too Honestly, why send that email instead of a rejection letter? Clearly they have already made their job offers, why string us along if they have no intention of hiring us? This is meant for the southern region btw. That's exactly what I'm saying!!!!! I don't even understand!! Bit of a random questions, but has anyone gotten their reimbursement for travel to the Career Exploration Day yet? Nope...I haven't been reimbursed Updates? No reimbursement here either. Any news Souther region= Nothing! We are supposed to hear SOMETHING, ANYTHING by Monday May 4... So, I guess I'll be calling Tuesday! Show More Responses Guess I'm right along with you has anyone been reimbursed yet? No reimbursement here Anyone from Northeast received their rejection letter/email yet? I obviously didn't get a acceptance phone call but making me wait this long for a official "no" is a long time. Southern updates? Nothing here Should we call today or tomorrow!? Should we call today or tomorrow!? Call today Have you heard Show More Responses No NE here, I already got my reimbursement, and don't be shocked when it's higher than what you turned in, they gave me over $100 for meals that I never filled out for. I also talked to David Andersen, he was nice enough to tell me how I could improve my interview next time if I apply again, I would encourage everyone to call and talk about the interview, it was helpful. Good luck to all in September! What advice was given? Thanks for the information. When did you receive the reimbursement, if you don't mind answering. My reimbursement was direct deposited to my checking on April 30th. Also Mr. Andersen went over how they scored me, and said that my communication score was what I needed to work on, that meaning I scored low on the in person interview. He will also tell you how you did on the tests in comparison to others if you ask and other general knowledge on how to better yourself next time around. I emailed NE recruiter and he told me that even though I was not selected that out of Highly Recommended, Recommended, and Not Recommended, I was scored as a Recommended. He also said that they call all the Highly Recommended people first then move on to the Recommended. I guess none of the Highly Recommended people said no. Still a positive thing for me. Looking forward to improving myself for next time. Has anyone talked to Maria She emailed me. I was not selected. They could have said that weeks ago. Has anyone else been reimbursed? And if so on which date? I am still waiting. Think I might call the number they gave us. No reimbursement here..who do we call Show More Responses Has anyone from the south been reimbursed!? Are you willing to travel? 157 AnswersThought we could start up a thread for this cycle. Where did everyone apply for? Maybe get some feedback on the new section of the test. The sample questions look fairly straight forward. They also don’t reimburse for relocation this cycle!!! Which sucks!!!! Did I read and understand this correctly?!? So one section said no relocation reimbursement and another section was showing the same $2k as previously. Probably something we would have to ask a recruiter about. Show More Responses Have you taken all of the test? If so have you heard back yet? If not when will you take them? I haven’t taken test this cycle yet. You’ll know pretty immediately if you pass. Email from the recruiter was stating the career exploration day/in-person interviews should be the week of Nov 13, should end of Oct or beginning of November should be notified if your score/resume qualify you for the next stage. is CED on the first or second half of that week? Hey everyone. I took the test at the end of last week. It seems as though they made the test easier than a year ago when I went through this whole process. After the test, I received an email saying I will hear something no later than November 5. Surely it won't take that long, right? How does everyone else feel about test results and has anyone heard anything else? I think the last day to take them is around Oct 15. So beginning of November sounds reasonable. I’m not taking mine until Oct 10th How was the writing section? Free form prompt like last time or summarizing data? The writing portion is a free form prompt. Its a free form prompt but computers grade it so theres no biases like last spring where a human reviewer graded it You say you went through this process already. How long ago? And how far did you get? What can we expect at CED and any other pointers you can provide. Hey guys I just also took the assessment and it said that I successfully completed it and should hear back from hr no later than November 5th. I went through this last spring and made it to the phone interviews which I didn’t go past. Does anyway know if they’re going through phone interviews again or just straight asking people to interview in person? Also the essay and assessment was fairly easy like last time, the 3rd part was kind of difficult and you had to actually think critically. Show More Responses It's looking like they aren't doing a phone interview this go around. What type of questions were on the third part? Anything that needs to be studied? What locations did everyone apply for? I went through this process last fall. I took the test, had a phone interview, and then they flew me out to the district HQ for CED day. For those who don't know what CED day is, it is a day where they have a lot of people come and learn more about the OCC and the position. At the end, you are sent to an interview with three higher-ups from that district. Passed the assessments today as well. Like the above poster said, the email stated we should hear by November 5th about next steps. Should be CED. Taking the test this weekend, applied for the Northeast region. This is my 3rd time taking the exam, 1st time failed the WCST, 2nd time passed both parts but then they decided they weren't hiring for the locations I had chosen. I am hoping 3rd time around is going to be different. Anyone who has taken the exam can give any advise on the third exam they just added and what should we be preparing for? It was basic math and reasoning. I found some practice tests online by googling analytical reasoning tests. Taking my assessment test on Monday. Does anyone have tips on the writing portion. I think it’s important to plan out your time. I take close to 5 to 10 minutes to outline. I’ve done 4 paragraphs both time. So I take the next 35 minutes to write everything out. Then use the remaining time to proofread, paying special attention to spelling and that my verb tenses match. Not having a spellcheck is weird in a modern world, so if anything is questionable I will try to change it to a synonym. It’s worked for me, passing this time and in the spring. Has anyone received an invitation to CED yet? Still waiting... JJL, I've been waiting for a month now, and it is killing me. I assume we will probably be waiting until last minute, but hopefully it will be worth it! I sure hope so Adam! Goodluck to everyone! Show More Responses In the spring I got the invite for CED on March 19th, itinerary on March 22nd, and flew out to Chicago on April 3rd. With them saying CED is around middle of November I would expect invites around end of this month or beginning of next. Testing just ended on Monday, so they are probably just starting to go through results. Are you guys fresh from college or have some work experience? I've been working at a large bank for ~8 years, and looking for a change. I wonder how they compare that with people straight from uni. Anyone get the CED invite yet? No CED invitation yet. We are still waiting. Best of luck to everyone! I received an email from USA jobs indicating an update to my OCC job application but I did not see any actual changes on the website. Anyone else experience the same? Got invitation to CED this morning. Anyone else? Harl, what region did you apply for? Congratulations Harl! What date is the Ced? Also wondering what region. Some of the regions seem to have their own timetables. I think west was typically slower? I applied for Southern Region. CED is 11/13-15 and the recruiter said that I should hear back about time and date of interview by 11/5. Show More Responses That’s so exciting! Congrats, Harl. I applied for the western district, and I am hoping they are just a little behind because I have not heard anything from them. @Adam, I applied for western district but haven’t heard anything about CED. I received an email indicating a change of status and didn’t really notice any changes on USA Jobs. Anon, check your email. I received an invitation to CED day in Denver on the 14th. I hope you get good news as well! I just received an email for Ced in Denver on the 15th. Western district. Different anon, I started the thread but can’t submit name from my phone. Has anyone from the Northeast received any email or update? I took my exam on October 9th and haven't heard anything. Follow up to what I wrote before: I received the email that I successfully completed the exam and will hear back by November 5th but nothing else yet. I applied for the NYC Metro Area and Boston. Finally received the invitation to Denver. Good luck everyone! Applied for the northeast region and just got my CED invitation for the 14th! Correction above: 15th Has anyone from Central heard anything? Show More Responses Applied to NYC metro.. no email yet. Must not have made the cut ::old man shaking fist:: next time. So we haven't heard from anyone in the Central district yet. But invitations were sent out for other districts. I'm hoping the hotel in Denver is walking distance, I liked being able to get ready and just walk over and not have to deal with an Uber. I received an invite to CED yesterday for the 16th for Central district. Don’t know what district I’m in, but received my invite for CED in Chicago for Nov. 14. Anyone else going to the Chicago one? Chicago is Central district. I was there last cycle. When did you get the CED invite? I got my invite on the 24th. I went through last cycle, passed all my testing, and then got an e-mail saying that they didn’t need people for the cities I picked. Hopefully this time goes better, haha Received an invitation today for the Northeast CED on the 14th. Good luck everyone! S: Now I need to figure out if I should do anything different in my interview this time. I’ve been doing a bunch of different things at work since spring so that should help. Which locations did you guys in Central apply for ? I’m central and I picked Cincinnati and Columbus Show More Responses Also got my central district CED invite, applied for Minneapolis S: I applied for Sioux Falls in western district. Anyone here for central district Chicago (downers grove?) The person that applied for MN, I actually just moved to MN but didn’t know if I’d like it so I picked Ohio. Whoever inquired about the relocation, they are still offering it. You must live outside of 50 miles of the office location. Are all the invitations already sent or did anyone else get an invitation during this week? I applied for NYC, but never got an invite yet. I'm assuming I didn't make the cut :( Sorry I mean't from today onward since some people have gotten their invite during this week Sorry JC. You may be out of luck this cycle. Looks like invites went out 24th-26th. Mine (received 24th) gave me until the 26th to accept, so I would guess that backups have also been invited if necessary. I'm hoping to get my itinerary soon. Need to arrange some time off work. Did they tell you which office you were interviewing for? I picked two from the northeast and they didn’t say anything Didn’t hear anything either, pretty sure they just place you Show More Responses Anybody get there itinerary yet? Like travel itinerary or the itinerary for the CED? Travel. They said about a week in advance. I got my itinerary the 1st, I haven’t been ticketed yet. That happens four business days before your set to interview. What district? I’m western and wondering if I should send an email to check in Central, I’d definitely check with your recruiter. Who’s interviewed before? What do you think was the reason you didn’t get an offer? Does anyone know what time the Career Exploration Day would end? S: Ced should last about 3 hours. Also just got itinerary today for Western district. Anyone going to Central (Chicago) on the 14th? Show More Responses S: How was everyone’s interviews today? Same questions as last cycle? Hey everyone, how are the interviews going? I had mine yesterday in Denver and it’s going to be a long week or two waiting to hear back. T: I always have a hard time reading interviewed when it comes to behavioral questions lol. I think I have a good shot, December 8th can’t get here soon enough What kind of timeline was everyone given? I interviewed in NY and they told me by the end of the month. Also I know in previous cycles they gave out offers very quickly. I interviewed in Chicago for Central and they said we’d know by 8th of December. EOM would be nice too Interviewed in Denver. We were told offers should start next week and continue into the following week. Good luck everyone! How do you think ya did? ^^^ I hope well. I took up all my time and everyone was friendly. I tried to keep the nerves down. I felt the presentation was much better and more informative than in the spring. It didn’t seem like a lot of people were applying for the same location that I was as well Did anyone else feel like the interview was incredibly difficult? When I answered a question they would ask for more info as if I wasn’t answering them. I don’t think it was difficult necessarily, I did have them ask for more on a couple of questions... but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Show More Responses I think when they were following up on questions, they were fishing for more buzz words. It would be a great Thanksgiving to know if there is an offer! Like with the other posts, if everyone doesn’t mind to posy up when they get an offer, and for where. Also if anyone notices a credit inquiry from them I received an offer Friday so they should be going out soon. Wow, that’s quick. What region were you interviewing in? Just checked my credit. Had a credit pull from Occ Pre employment yesterday. Hoping that’s a good sign. Background checks take at least a week, so not sure how that’s possible. And I’m also pretty sure they do a soft pull so that wouldn’t appear on a credit check. Even if they did, it’d take at least a week for those to hit as well. No idea on background checks but I pull credit pretty normally as part of my job. It can be done in seconds. I did a free TransUnion check to show the soft pulls. Definitely showed the Occ pull on 11/16. Where’d you get yours for free? I use Credit Karma but it doesn’t show soft pulls My credit pull was done in a day and criminal records done in 2 days. Interviewed at CED in Wednesday and was given offer on Friday and have 48hrs to decide. Show More Responses Which district? At ours they said they weren’t even going to get with the selection committee until Monday Which district said they won’t select until Monday? Central, as they were still doing interviews on Friday. Which district did you interview at that gave you the offer Friday? Yeah, I'm curious about this as well... which District gave them out on Friday? Historically, the majority of calls should go out today or tomorrow with some calls going out as late as end of November/Beginning of December. Good luck everyone! Interviewed last week in Chicago for Minnesota location, haven’t heard anything yet. Sounds like this week may be when they’ll start putting out the offers but they did say Dec 8th was their deadline. Got my offer today, Central District, Cincinnati Office Anyone here back from the North East district? What about the Western District? Any word yet? Show More Responses Not going to lie, it’s a tad bit disheartening to see others have started to get their offers when I haven’t heard anything yet. I hope I hear something this week. Interviewed in Central District. S: Just got my offer call for Western district! Which office, S? Just checked my status on usajob it changed to referred hope it’s a good sign The person that interviewed in Chicago for Minnie, what day did you interview? My offer was the western district for sioux city For the status change, what district did you interview with? Has anyone from the Northeast heard anything yet? If not, I'm guessing they'll reach out tomorrow I applied for New York office Ah - mine still says "received". I guess that means no offer? Show More Responses ^ I meant "reviewed" For the NY office yours still says reviewed? So does mine. For anyone who received an offer - does your status on USAJobs still say reviewed? S: I received my offer and it still says “reviewed” on usajobs. So it doesn’t seem to be an indicator one way or another Anyone get an offer from northeastern yet? I got my offer today from Central and my status on USAJobs still says reviewed as well. Did the field office call, the recruiter, or someone from the district office? My recruiter called me. S: Yep, the recruiter called me. Longer discussion, it wasn’t just a scripted 4 minute offer call. Did anyone get a call from northeast yet? If not I think northeast is going to take a while. I remember the main HR guy saying that they were gonna try to get offers out by dec 15th. Show More Responses Applied to Northeast as well. I did hear Dec 15th at the latest. I applied to North East, I haven’t heard back either. I’m hoping for the best because I put Syracuse as my choice. At the end of my interview, they said they were going to start offers this week. I interviewed for the Northeast region. I wonder if it's going to be today or tomorrow since so many people take off on Friday. I heard they had 50 people total for CED in the Northeast so hopefully the odds are good. How do you know it’s 50? There were 12 ppl in my session. And there’s like 2 sessions a day. So that’s 24, and didn’t they interview for 3 days (Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday)? So it’s like 72-75? For Northeastern, there were only two days Anyone get offers today? If so, from where? I got my offer today for the northeastern district. Which office did you get the offer for? S: That’s good! I was worried for you guys thinking of waiting until Dec 15th for offers. So stressful. I’m seriously thinking we should setup a discord or something for new hires Show More Responses T: Hey S, that sounds like a great idea. Be a good way to keep in touch with people from our cycle as we prepare/go through trading/and such! Is it possible that all offers have already been given by this point? S: I doubt all offers are out. I think they were doing a ton of hiring this cycle and I know I spent 20 minutes or so on my offer call. Plus they give you 48 hours to accept, so there are possibly some offers coming if someone declines an offer. It doesn’t look like those of us who didn’t get offers are gonna get any more. This week is pretty much over, and I doubt there will be any people who refuse the job so there won’t be many offers next week. Has anyone heard from the Southern Region? Any offers today? Seems like there were no offers today. That probably means that all the offers are all out. Just got my rejection email. Guess I'll try again next round. S: Definitely try again! If you made it to CED you were among the top candidates. It took me two tries to get the offer. Any interview tips? That was almost surely where I fell short. Show More Responses S: For the 2nd time I went in more relaxed. To help, I asked for a late check out at the hotel so I had some down time after. I also planned out some free time the night before to walk to the building and familiarize myself. What region/office did you get the rejection letter from? I still haven’t gotten anything S, you should make that discoed and let me know! I’d love to connect Rejection from Central district Rejection from Northeast ugh New York office. Says “I wasn’t selected” should’ve went for a easier office. Also says next recruitment is in Fall 2019??? Is that just for the New York office or the whole country? Usually they have spring recruitment. The webpage has "Please check back in September 2019 for next fall’s availability." so it looks like there may not be a spring recruitment? Can always ask the recruiter. I know the central recruiter sent me a couple emails before the fall recruitment (looked like mass email to all CED invitees that didn't get the job previously). Also looks like they are no longer hiring entry Large Bank examiners, just doing internal for them. This just depresses me, was initially happy that at least I met their bench marks on the interview since it says “weren’t selected” instead of “not recommended”. I have always been terrible at behavioral questions so this was a W. But as soon as I read next cycle is in fall 2019 my heart sank. Show More Responses Just read my rejection email from the Northeast and was also sad to see their next recruitment is fall of 2019. How many total offers did we get? In total about 60 offers across the country. I know the western and southern made up 30 offers Has anyone received an offer from the Southern District? One or more comments have been removed. |
The first 6 questions were behavioral questions. The next 6 questions were situational. - What would you do if your co-worker wanted to fudge the mileage so you can stay overnight rather than having to drive back home? - Name a time you had to work with a difficult co-worker, what was the outcome. 114 AnswersWhat the OCC is looking for is someone ETHICAL and someone who is wanting to continue to grow their education. Anyone else planning to or have applied for the spring cycle? I'm planning on applying for the spring cycle. Have you applied yet? Show More Responses I've applied, but I haven't taken the tests yet. I'll be applying in western district - LA and SF. What about you? I'm planning on applying for the western district as well - LA and Santa Ana. Has anyone tested? I just tested today! Waiting for the results now I applied to LA and Santa Ana. I just took the test today How did the test go you guys? I'm taking mine tomorrow. It wasn’t bad, not as many financial ratio questions as I thought though. The writing portion was actually a prompt and not a loan review packet as I had heard. The logical reasoning section was challenging, after a while your brain starts jumbling up names and scenarios. Honestly not sure how I did overall. I am waiting for the results. Also I applied for the Tampa field office. Was anyone else told that if they did not pass the first portion they wouldn’t be able to proceed to the written portion? I have heard that, although I’m not sure if it’s true Received an email that I passed this morning Show More Responses I just received that same Email as well! Congrats! I guess now we wait to see if we get chosen for interviews! Yay! Have you guys also received that email saying the career day has been postponed due to COVID-19? I received the email. I hope we still receive an answer by the 20th. Has anyone received an update regarding the interviews since the email about COVID-19? Nope nothing. You? Neither I’m hoping they will give an update soon I also have not gotten any other communication from the OCC. I’m really hoping we will still be able to interview in May or at least this year I have received an Skype interview invitation for second week of April I also received the email, yay! I am preparing for the interview using the STAR method, also focusing on ethical behavioral-type questions...just curious, if you don’t mind me asking, how are you preparing? I have found some past interview material online Show More Responses Where did you all apply? I haven’t received an email :( I'm just looking at common interview questions, making sure I would have an idea of what I would say. I think for the ethical/situational questions it's quite hard to prep as there are no correct answers. So I would say just focus on being able to talk about your experiences. I applied to SF and LA. Yes you’re right about that, preparing is kind of difficult haha. I applied for the Tampa office. Unfortunately, if you haven’t gotten an email at this point you may not get one. Because of covid 19, the OCC had a virtual webinar that was replacing the career exploration day and attendance was mandatory to complete an interview. Did you have your interview yet? I have my interview on 4/16. Did you have yours? Yes! How was your interview? I thought it was positive! of course, I wish I could have answered everything perfectly, but I know it’s impossible lol. I am really hoping that I get the job, I would really love to work for the OCC. I will probably be posting a separate review in a few days :) How did yours go?? I hope we both got it! We have been working hard! Mine wasn’t too bad. I had technical issues but they were super nice about it. Honestly some of the questions I felt like I had a similar to another so that is a bit worrying. Hopefully they get back to us soon it has been such a long process Yes I also had a few technical issues. I got a call from someone in the security office today, did you also get a call? I wasn’t able to answer at the time they called. Show More Responses Yes. I got a call too but I wasn’t able to pick up. So will have to call them back tomorrow. In the webinar they said that security calls come after your initial offer. So confused what this means Yeah, kinda odd, perhaps they were informing us that they were going to start the criminal background check or something. Hopefully this is a good sign but maybe it’s a part of the normal process haha. If I can get in touch with them today I will let you know what I find out! Got a call from them too, after calling them back it seems like it was Security calling to inform me that I've passed the credit check, no idea what that could mean though. Does anyone know if they do checks for all potential applicants or just the ones with more chances of getting an offer? I believe they only do credit/criminal checks for those who are being considered (if you're highly recommended and recommended status) I wasn’t able to get in touch with the security office so I left a message but, yes I think that makes sense. I figured it would be something regarding the background checks. Well, hopefully this is good news! I would love to get an offer The security officer I spoke to said that I had passed the interview and besides telling me I passed the credit check asked if I had been arrested before. Hopefully, all of this is a good sign. That's great news! The security officer never informed me of my interview status but basically told and asked me the same thing. I hope that doesn't mean my interview didn't go well. Has anyone received any emails/calls informing them of their offer yet? Results should be out either this or next week. I haven’t heard anything yet. I personally was not able to reach the security office even though I called several times. I emailed the recruiter about it but other than that I believe they are still looking over the candidates. I would like to think that if they are looking into our background checks then it could mean we are being seriously considered. I just got off the phone with the recruiter! I got my contingent offer!! I’m so happy! I’ve never been arrested or anything and my credit is very good so I’m super excited! I think the recruiter was in the process of calling the other people in my district who were accepted as well. I am on the east coast so I know there’s a time difference. I hope you guys hear back today too! Congratulations! Show More Responses Congratulations! What office did you apply for? Just got an offer for the western district too! Yay! I’m so happy for you! I was hired for the Tampa, FL office! I forgot to ask the recruiter how long the background checks will last haha, did you happen to ask? I know it’s crazy but I just want that final offer too 😂 No, but he mentioned that training team leader and assistant deputy will be in contact in the next few weeks. Now I’m just wondering if anything is going to be pushed back because of Covid-19. I have to move across the country so it’s hard to plan without knowing. Oh wow, yes that is difficult, especially during this time. Hopefully we will know more soon. Also, a lot of states seem to be opening back up so that will make things easier at least. Are you in school right now? Oh wow, yes that is difficult, especially during this time. Hopefully we will know more soon. Also, a lot of states seem to be opening back up so that will make things easier at least. Are you in school right now? Yeah I’m graduating next month! So I’m super happy to have a job straight out of college in this economy. You? I actually graduated in May 2018 so I’ve been working for two years now in the finance field, nothing fancy, but I’m glad to be able to use my degree more this is wayyy better than my current job lol That's awesome to hear, I think ANBE is one of the best entry-level positions for Finance majors, too. I've had a call from Security last week, but radio silence this week so far, guess that's a No for me this year. What district are you in? Show More Responses The two cities I picked were in Central & Western, I interviewed with 2 people both from Western. Did you apply before or is this your first time applying? I'd reapply if you're interested - all the CA offices are pretty competitive. First time applying fresh out of school here. I'd most definitely reapply when the next hiring cycle opens up, thanks for the heads-up, CA honestly was not even my top choice, guess I really screwed up on picking the cities here. Do you remember the area code the security officer called from? Any chance it was a Virginia area code? Hey, Can't speak for everyone. The security officer who called me had a Maryland area code Yes I believe it was a D.C. area code Just got an email stating that the start date has been pushed back a month, hopefully by then the coronavirus will be more contained. I would really hate for them to have to push it back even further. To the person who had their start date pushed back a month - what region are you in? Also which district? I’m in the southern district- specifically in Florida- but the southern district headquarters is in Dallas, TX. When I got the offer, the recruiter informed me that the start date was not concrete b/c of the virus.. kinda bummed I have to wait longer though. I know it’s for the better. Your start date didn’t get pushed back?? Did the email come from HR at District HQ? Also, were you originally scheduled to start in late June? Show More Responses No, I haven't heard anything about start dates being pushed back yet. I'm in the Central district though. It's likely they're doing this according to conditions at the various HQs. The South is a lot worse off than Central Dang, well I guess that makes sense. Better safe than sorry. Yes, I got the email from my recruiter in Dallas, the headquarters of the southern district. I was supposed to start originally on 6/22...now I will be starting 7/20. It’s a good thing I still have my current job haha I'm in the Western district and got notified that my start date got pushed back too,. This is probably an agency wide thing. Yes, I thought that might happen. I got a follow up email stating that the OCC is still committed to honoring the job offers so I guess that was everyone’s main concern. We have a little less than 3 months for conditions to improve so that’s a good amount of time I think. Guy from Central here - just got the delay notification too. Pushed back to 7/20 as well lol Have you guys heard anything about a Citibank card we can/are supposed apply for? My recruiter mentioned it but I have no idea why lol Yeah, it's the travel card. You'll probably get more information about it along with your offer letter. You're not supposed to apply for it until close to the start date. Ohhh I see. I have not received my official offer letter yet. Has anyone else received theirs? I’m in the western district and all I’ve received is information regarding the push back of the start date. Still waiting for all the onboarding paperwork I just got the first installment of the onboarding paperwork! Woo! Show More Responses Do you mean access to the different websites? What district are you in? I’m in the Southern district. I didn’t get access but I got my offer letter and Citibank travel card information. The email says that access to those onboarding websites will be granted sometime in May. Anyone get an email from the security office regarding the e-QIP yet? Yes I did and will be submitting the questionnaire today. I also received my CareerOrientation information yesterday How long did it take you to complete it? I'm thinking it's going to take me around 2 to 3 days to complete and thoroughly review before I submit it. I plan to submit it today, so it did take me about 3 days of on/off working on it to finish it. It is very in-depth and requires a lot of personal information and references but it’s not especially difficult. Just being thorough takes some time lol Yeah true. I had to gather all the personal information and all my references first before I start. Agree it's pretty in-depth, and I'm terrified I'll make a mistake or mess it up. So going to take my time before submitting it. Have you completed CareerOrientation and the PASS stuff yet also? I finally submitted my e-QUIP screening last night lol so I am going to complete the CareerOrientation thing today/tomorrow. I am also terrified I made a mistake 😂 but I’m sure they will let us know in case we do. As long as you don’t outright lie or omit information, I feel like it should be as easy as fixing your information to their liking... I hope anyway lol. I don’t believe I’ve gotten the PASS information yet. I will have to double check on that Submitted my e-QIP also. Still feeling like I've made some mistake somewhere on the form. Hopefully everything turns out fine! I got an email stating that my e-QUIP was approved and sent to the background check bureau so I guess we will see haha Show More Responses Good luck! I hope mine gets approved also. This is so anxious... Update: Mine was also approved. Guess we'll just wait and see if we can do the fingerprinting at some point... How long did it take you guys to get an Approved email after you submitted the e-QIP It was the next day or two after I submitted it. Same here, it got approved the next day.... Have you guys gotten any other info regarding training, orientation or getting the ID card? I actually just got an email about 30 minutes ago saying that my team is no longer going to the district headquarters for orientation because of social distancing and whatnot. We are going to have orientation in the regular field offices but the start date is still July 20th so that’s good. Oh I see...I haven't gotten any emails yet, hopefully I'll get something today.. Edit: did you get this email directly from your ADC or from HR? I got the email from the assistant deputy comptroller of my field office so it may be a state-by-state thing. My district headquarters is in Dallas TX Show More Responses Got it, thanks. I haven't gotten anything so it might vary by district, not sure though It’s possible. But other than that I haven’t heard anything else. My office is also moving orientation to the field office (Central district). Also, did you guys get an email saying your access to facilities and systems has been approved due to favorable fingerprints/e-QIP yet? I got it on Monday, but was expecting it to take a lot longer. Yes I did get that email as well. I also thought it would take longer but I think that they are still conducting the background check. It’s possible that being granted access is only the first step if that makes sense. I agree, I think that's just a interim approval while they do the background investigation, but I could be wrong... I still haven't received notice of orientation moving to field office but I'm sure based on both of your experiences I'll be doing the same as well. Update: just got the email about orientation being moved as well. Do you guys know when we're supposed to apply for the Travel Card? Since everything got pushed back one month, do we just apply for it one month later from the original due date? I was told that the travel card application needs to be completed no later than June 15th. That was in my offer letter I received at the beginning of May. I have already submitted my application. How long after you applied for the card did you receive approval email? or are you still waiting at this time? I don’t think I ever got an approval email but I did get a email stating my request was received or something like that. Show More Responses Yeah, I got that email as well - in it, it says we'll get another email saying when the card is ready for pickup but to disregard. Was just checking to see if you had gotten that follow up email or not. Guess it takes time. Yeah it was my understanding that we may be given the cards once we actually arrive to orientation or something like that. Anyone worried they may delay the start date again with the surge in coronavirus cases? Yes actually I am. I emailed my assistant deputy comptroller and asked if the 7/20 start date is still in place. Haven’t rcvd a reply yet but I will let you guys know I had a conference call with my team early last week and they didn't say anything about a delay so who knows. Do you guys need to relocate? I'm moving so if they delay it would mess up my plans... I live in the same city as my field office so I’m not moving but I was thinking about those that are moving. I think they would have something because they know some are relocating so hopefully we don’t get a surprise lol Just word back from my assistant deputy comptroller. Orientation is still taking place on 7/20. Three weeks to go! Did anyone ever get a letter or package from the office of human capital? Letter/package regarding what? I looked back at the offer letter and it said we should be expecting an offer letter with benefits/vacation information but I believe I found it all on the career orientation website :) Show More Responses How's everyone's training going |
Name a time you were had to complete a task but had other distractions. How did you handle the distractions?? 47 AnswersUsed work and school as the distraction to a task I had to complete for an internship. This is not exactly related to the post. However, I am wondering if anyone here interviewed with the Chicago office during the week of November 15th. If so, have you heard back yet? Not sure if this helps, but I interviewed in the NY office on Nov. 18th. They told us they would let us know by December 18th and that if we did not get a Phone call by this date we would receive a letter in the mail that we were not receiving an offer. On Nov. 23rd I received a phone call and they made an offer. Show More Responses I haven't heard anything from the southern district. Hoping to hear positive news soon! Thanks for the response. I figure that if I don't hear back by the end of this week, then I did not get the job. Hey, I also received an offer on the 23rd. Did you receive your newhire paperwork yet? I'm still waiting on mine. Which district? I know they did a credit check on me (shows up on my credit report) but I haven't received an offer yet. Northeast for NY I did not receive paperwork yet either. I did an internship with Medicare over the summer and it took awhile. When I receive it Ill comment and please do the same. Southern district here, interviewed on the 19th and received a verbal offer on the 25th. Still waiting on the paperwork. I interviewed on the 19th in Chicago, and they said they'd let me know by the end of the first week of December (this week), but I haven't heard anything back. Hope that helps the person asking about Chicago. Thanks for Chicago update. I interviewed on the 18th and they told me that they would get back this week also. I am just a little impatient. Do keep me posted when you hear back from them. I got a email confirmation of the offer for NE district, they said paperwork will come sometime during this month. Show More Responses Did anyone from the NE district, who plan to train in Chicago, received an offer? Also, did anyone received a status update to 'referred' in USA Jobs? My application status did change to "referred" but I think that means we were deemed eligible and invited to the office visit (Not 100% positive.) Not sure if this helps but I applied in the NE district and was told that If selected I would either train in NY or Chicago. When I received the offer they informed me I was going to train in NY. Anyone interview in the NE for Philadelphia? I got offered Ny, I was told I'd be training in either Philly or Chicago. Haven't been offered any details as to what's going to happen, I assume that'll all come with the new hire paperwork and stuff. Did anyone received any offer, in any region, today? Central region here, heard nothing yet, starting to fear I didn't make the cut. DId any of you guys have a status change on USAJobs? For those of you that applied for Central district, what day did you go for career exploration? I applied for central as well... Central region here again, USA jobs still says "Received" and still no news. I recall someone saying first week of December we should hear something. Central district here again, it's officially the end of the first week of December. Anyone hear anything this week? I was reading through the comments from the last round of hiring and it seems that central and western took much longer than NE and southern. Let us know! I am from central office. No word yet. Show More Responses Heard nothing yet, central office Either the Central Office is slow or those who have gotten offers from them are not responding to the post. At this point, I've already moved on from them. I am in the NE district and received an e-mail Confirming the offer today. Still no paperwork for the background check. Has anyone in the SE region been contacted? Somebody above mentioned he or she received an offer in the Southern district on Nov. 25th. I have not hear anything yet for the SE regions and the credit report is not reflecting any credit check; I guess at this point I did not make the cut. The US jobs did change from received to referred but as it was mentioned above, it is more likely to reflect that we were deemed eligible and were invited to the office. I am surprise that I have not received a letter to let me know I was not selected at least. If you're concerned about your status you should call or email the main recruiter for your area ans ask for your status. They will let you know what's going on. Has anyone who interviewed for the NE district received a letter saying they didn't get the job. Im pretty sure since I still haven't heard anything I wasn't chosen but I still haven't received anything saying I wasn't chosen. My USA Jobs status updated about two weeks after my interview to "referred" but that was the last I heard of anything. On my Office Visit in NY for the NE district they said everyone in our district will hear by December 18th and if you do not hear you will receive a letter sent out aftet December 18th. Good luck. Did anybody in any district receive the background paperwork yet? I still have not in the NE district. Show More Responses Not sure what you mean. I've been completing the paperwork as I've been getting it. You have to fill it out online I received the offer letter on the 15th and have not been sent any other directions to fill out any paperwork. I contacted them when I read this asking for directions. Thank you for your answer. I received my letter on that date as well. After I received that I also received emails every few days after to complete some online forms. Have you not gotten those yet? Yeah, I have not received anything about filling out forms. I contacted a couple people at the OCC today but have not been able to get through. Thanks for your help. Are you in the NE district? When is your start date, January or June 2016? Heard back from them. The June 2016 hires will receive the paperwork in a few months. Thanks again for your help. No problem. Those who made it for January, see you in DC. What if I want to apply and I want to be a national bank examiner but I had past credit issues with those banks but have settled on that debt and my credit is now clear would I be able to get hired if I pass the interviewing process? They do run an extensive background check that includes a credit check. I have no definitive answer, but if you are honest about it up front they can tell you whether or not it will be a problem. Good luck. Thank you I appreciate your reply about credit check follow up. Show More Responses Did those that get offers get calls from the regional office, or from the office they would work out of? This would be much easier if someone could respond to people and not just post. In the Northeast, I got a call from the Regional Office. Do you plan to apply again this September? I will. Although my preferred location isn't available for the January or June start date. |
Name a time when you were faced with an ethical dilemma. Many questions in phone and in-person interview are behavioral based questions and generally are 3 part questions: 1. Describe the situation 2. How did you react/respond to the situation 3. What was the outcome 15 AnswersHi, I was wondering for the writing test, did you use a lot of numbers or ratios in your writing? Or did you just stick to writing a report with a recommendation? What type of format did you use for the written test? I used a few numbers but not many. I stuck to just writing the report. They basically give you a mini loan file to review and write a summary of what happened. I gave background information, what is happening now, and what the bank thinks will happen in the future if I remember correctly. You are given 2 hours for the writing portion and I used every second of time. The test is graded by a computer that looks for keywords or phrases (or so I'm told) and you are told if you passed in as little as an hour. Show More Responses Hi ANBE, For the writing portion did you make arguments or made a recommendation? Or did you just stick with writing a summary. Hi ANBE, After you pass the tests, when did you get scheduled for the phone interview? For example if you pass the tests on the 1st, did they contact you on the 14th (2 weeks later) for a phone interview on the lets say 28th? From the time I passed the test to the actual phone interview was about 3 weeks. It took about a week and a half after the phone interview to hear if I would be doing the in-person interview. After that, the in-person interview was about 2 weeks later and I received an offer a week and a half later. Hope this helps and good luck! I am invited to in-person interview on Nov 18, 2013 and wondering what kind of questions you were asked for final interview on site. Any tips or advices would be greatly appreciated. The format of the in-person interview is the same as the phone interview: describe the situation, how you reacted, and the outcome. While I can't recall specific questions, I remember over half the questions were from the phone interview. The in-person interviewers are from one of the field offices you chose as a priority. Most of the time it is someone on senior management from the first field office you chose. In my case, the interview was the ADC, Assistant Deputy Comptroller, from my field office (the ADC is the head of the office) and one other person. I do remember questions dealing with ethical dilemmas, working with problematic people, etc. One thing to keep in mind is to not think that because your interview was longer or shorter than someone else's there is a problem. I know some people interviewed for almost an hour and fifteen minutes and I only interviewed for 45 minutes. We both got the job. I only say this because that is what I was worried about at the time. Hope this helps and good luck! How many candidates were there at your career exploration day? I have mine in NYC on Nov 19th and was curious. Hi Colleen, From my experience in Chicago, there were about 15 people in my group. However, there was at least 2 groups the day I was there and they had groups come in over a 4 day period. I don't know the size of the other groups but I would think they were about the same as mine. Hi ANBE, In your group that was offered a position, did the OCC only offered jobs one per office? Or did you have a situation where an office gave job offers to more than 1 inidividual. What about you? Were you the only one that was hired for the office that you applied for? I know that every field office who was hiring got at least 2 people and in a couple cases 3 people. I know our class has 8 training teams with 5-6 people per team. In my training team, myself and another guy are moving to a different field office while the other 3 are staying in the training team city. I also think they mentioned that they acceptance rate was really high once the offers were given. Something like only 1 or 2 people did not accept the offer. Hey everyone, Has anyone heard from the Southern District about career exploration day in Dallas yet? Or does anyone know if/when rejections come after the phone interview? Show More Responses Unfortunately, I applied to the northeastern region. Did you hear anything yet? Hi ANBE, What day of the week did you get interviewed? Monday? Tuesday? When you received the job offer...was it through phone call or telephone? Which day did you get the offer? Thanks, |
Most people fail the written portion of the process, which consists of summarizing a fictitious loan review packet for a bank's loan review board. 11 AnswersKnow how to write! Hi, I was wondering for the writing test, did you use a lot of numbers or ratios in your writing? Or did you just stick to writing a report with a recommendation? What type of format did you use for the written test? Show More Responses How did you find out that most people fail the written portion? The original comment was mine. Sorry it took so long to respond. They don't care what format you use for the written test as long as it accurately and concisely relays all of the requisite information. I personally used a bulleted list with an intro paragraph and a summation paragraph. They do want you to use complete sentences in your bullet points. They will give you sheet of simple writing instructions to use. You don't have to include any ratios or analysis for the written test. They will give you a loan review to summarize. I found out after I was hired that most people fail the written test (about 60%). How many candidates were at your Career Exploration Day? I have mine on November 19th. Cns5302, I will be attending a Career Exploration Day in Dallas, TX on 11/18 and I believe there will be ~9 candidates flown in. At which office is your Career Exploration Day? My career exploration day is in New York City. Cns5302 or MSacct, have you heard anything back yet? If so, how long did it take? Do they call you in person or email? Johnathan12, I have not heard back yet at all. From what I was told at Career Exploration Day, it will be between 2-3 weeks. They call you if they are extending an offer and email if they are not, but they do not send out the rejection emails until all offers are accepted. Let me know if you hear anything. Right now, the Southern District (Dallas) is hiring the most people. When I was hired (December 2012), Southern District hired 25 people, Northeast District (New York) hired eight. Western District (Denver) hired 13, and Central District (Chicago) hired 11. Over the next 5 years, over 50% of the examiners in Southern District will become eligible for retirement. Southern District is also the largest district by both the number of banks and thrifts supervised and by total assets under supervision. If you don't make it this time, keep trying. |
Biggest liability on a depository institution's balance sheet? 7 AnswersDeposits I failed the written section as well. I really thought nailed it. I took the test too on last Friday (Oct. 06) and passed both tests. My suggestion is to make sure you just sum up the loan package and that is it. Please do not add any opinion or judgment. Once you receive the loan package, arrange everything in time order and use bulletins to sum up everything and make sure to use whole sentence as outlined in the instruction paper. As far as I know, OCC recruits every Oct/Feb, if you passed the first part of the exam and really want the job, you should try again. Again, please do not overthink just lay everything down concisely and you will pass. Show More Responses I did everything you said. I assume I'm just not a good writer. I've never failed an exam (including all four parts of the CPA exam), so I'm going crazy wondering what I did wrong. Oh well, there is always next hiring window. Thank you for your reply! I can't really give further details about what I wrote last Friday due to the fact we are probably not allowed to release any details about the context of the exam. At the same time, not trying to pretend to be an expert. As far as I know, there are scores to the tests more than just pass/fail that might determine your standing in the hiring process. If you are this good about exams, I am sure you will do good next time or just about anything else in life, chill up and look forward! Hey there, same boat as you! I was completely in shock that I didn’t pass the WSCT..... was I too wordy? Hardly.... I didn’t add any opinions. I’m thinking they already have our resumes when they are grading the WSCT and for whatever reason they didn’t want us based on our resume, they just fail us on the written test Yeah, sounds like the government HR doing |
