How would you deal with a difficult hiring manager during a consultative discussion?

1 Answers

I would first listen to what he or she had to say in regards to their expectations for the JD. Ask questions in regards to their must haves, nice to have, and etc. I would ask specific questions in regards to what would you perfect candidate look like? How many years of bkgd experience, which particular platform, quotas and attainments? Do you have anyone in mind that would be an excellent fit? Do you have a sample of their resume? I would hope to put their mind at ease, that I know their needs and will be able to locate the perfect candidate for the role - actually raise the bar even higher than they had in mind - with a top-notch quality candidate that has exceeded what PRFT has in mind for annual quota. Honestly, I possess all the skills and experience that you’re looking for. I’m pretty confident that I am the best candidate for this job role. It’s not just my background in the past projects, but also my people skills, which will be applicable in this position. On the other hand, I am a self motivated person and I try to exceed my superior’s expectations with high-quality work. Being a fast learner, I quickly pick up business knowledge related to my project. Lastly, I would like to add that I work well both as an individual contributor and also as a team member. Collectively, all these skills put together makes me a complete package for this job. Less

WPT test.

They have a very high passing score. If you fail, you don't get the job.

The high passing score and personality test requirement for high dominance/low patience profiles only creates an environment of overbearing, smart but egotistical people with little or no domain expertise. In other words, superiors who will treat you condescendingly but not actually know anything about the details of the business or key product functionality. Run - don't walk -- before even taking the tests. Focus your efforts in finding a position with a more functional organization. Less
